We can only do the best we can. No point in going on housework threads if you're a working LP who never has a break from the kids. Or if you're a SAHM LP with small kids who can't get to the gym.

So, a thread for us to start the New Year with good intentions and to juggle it around everything else we have to do Smile.

  • I banned Minecraft today and tomorrow after some shocking behaviour (kicking each other in the supermarket) the dc's had a burst of enthusiasm, dysoning and tidying up to get back in my good books.
  • I have managed to get out for a few runs over Xmas. We stayed with my mum for a couple of days so I went out then.

Here's to a positive start to 2015.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/03/2015 15:46

fattymcfatfat · 28/03/2015 18:08

put two loads of washing in and hung one.
put a bit of shopping away.
a bit of fiddling about with stuff.
it is just not progressing fast.

fattymcfatfat · 30/03/2015 13:10

DD. she was sick all over the bedroom floor last night aswell Confused

so I was cleaning that up while cuddling her and shouting through to DS to go back to sleep because I woke him up with my cry of FFS Blush

BlackeyedSusan · 31/03/2015 15:01

oh fmfc that is not good. hoping you all don't go down with it.

yeah I suppose progress is progress, even if you have to get out the electron microscope to measure the distancE!

fattymcChocolateEgg · 01/04/2015 20:10

well I in bloody agony. but my house is kind of tidy if you ignore the unwashed pots, the muck on the floor and the clutter

BlackeyedSusan · 03/04/2015 21:17

well, I have been busy getting not a lot done at all. their dad was supposed to come today but has not turned up. he has lost his keys so may turn up later begging for somewhere to sleep. there is not a lot of space.

fattymcChocolateEgg · 03/04/2015 22:00

oh dear. sounds like a lot of fun for you. Hopefully he will stay away and leave you in peace

BlackeyedSusan · 03/04/2015 22:56

I am planning to start yoga half hour twice weekly at home as I have a yoga mat and bought a yoga DVD in January. I had my previous car off the road for 3 months from Christmas and had to change it as it was scrapped and also had a 5 week 'flu when I could not earn a penny. I am still catching up with that financial hiatus yikes.....! Finances come first eh.

I used to do yoga years back and have always loved it but have never really got around to seeing to it - my son is 10 years of age and I am self-employed so I do have a small window of opportunity in the daytime but I am busy earning then.

Meanwhile I am busy playing the piano by way of relaxation. What price a hobby to keep one sane during our manic single parenting years!! :)

The general plan is to do yoga at 6 am Mondays and Thursdays first thing before the day commences. Just for the 30 mins.

Plan to start around May.

Hope I didn't woffle on too much thanks for reading ladies!!

Goodbetterbest · 04/04/2015 11:31

Hello, may so please join you? I officially took up the lone parent status this week after 15 years. I have 4 DCs 7 - 13.

I figure if I can keep up with housework/healthy eating/exercise I can stay afloat. The state of my house has a huge impact on my mind, healthy eating on my mood and exercise to keep my energy levels up. I go to spinning classes 3/4 times a week and do the 5:2. I've lost 18 pounds since Christmas.

It's a good start and I'm feeling really positive but I'm really nervous it could all come crashing down.

Goodbetterbest · 04/04/2015 11:34

I should also apologise as I haven't caught up with the thread and don't mean to barge in. Just finding my feet. Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 04/04/2015 12:55

ermm, not sure whether to welcome and congratulate or welcome and commiserate good.

summary of thread so far:
me, single parent, 2dc one with asd who makes a hell of a mess, two bed flat with too much stuff, most of which seems to be on the sodding floor. I am exhausted and finding it difficult to keep at the terrible level it is never mind improve!
fatty mc fat cat: two young children, pregnant, spd, from what I gather her place is not at midden level
starlight is doing well with weight loss, cleaning but not the dreaded paperwork.

oh and I we moan a lot. seriously there is not much to catch up on.

fattymcChocolateEgg · 04/04/2015 13:06

pretty much what susan said...we basically moan about what we are meant to be doing but haven't actually done Grin

Goodbetterbest · 04/04/2015 13:33

Thank you :) it's good to have a place to come to moan I guess. I hadn't thought about the bloody paperwork! I'm concentrating on moving those little piles of shit that accumulate almost entirely from the contents of ex-party bags from one place to another. I have just cleaned 'his' room out so am Grin.

Also, I'm enjoying being a LP (day 3) because no one is following me around shouting at me.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/04/2015 13:49

congratulations then and enjoy the peace. (but not too much or else you will end up with a midden too)

fattymcChocolateEgg · 04/04/2015 13:54

please lets not talk about paperwork. ..really need to sort through mine but it is hidden in a drawer or two so I can pretend its not there until I need something and have to fight my way through it all!

BlackeyedSusan · 04/04/2015 15:39

I can now say I have cleaned the whole kitchen.....

..... unfortunately only the plastic toy one in the living room.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/04/2015 15:45

oh and stop showing off fatty...

paperwork in drawers ffs. some of us still have it scattered to the four winds. Grin

ps the best summary of the thread ever by the way.

fattymcChocolateEgg · 04/04/2015 16:02

I am conveniently ignoring the letters on my fireplace, windowsill, and hiding my computer table Wink

Goodbetterbest · 04/04/2015 17:37

If it helps I'm about to put the Xmas decs away. XH refused to help me so they are still in the hallway.

Pah. Who needs them anyway?
