We can only do the best we can. No point in going on housework threads if you're a working LP who never has a break from the kids. Or if you're a SAHM LP with small kids who can't get to the gym.

So, a thread for us to start the New Year with good intentions and to juggle it around everything else we have to do Smile.

  • I banned Minecraft today and tomorrow after some shocking behaviour (kicking each other in the supermarket) the dc's had a burst of enthusiasm, dysoning and tidying up to get back in my good books.
  • I have managed to get out for a few runs over Xmas. We stayed with my mum for a couple of days so I went out then.

Here's to a positive start to 2015.

why so many pots? that is just making more work for you.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/04/2015 18:39

he has always been like that. he claims he will wash up for me... (your own sodding pots and your children's and the sodding pots I used to cook your tea, oh and it is your sodding turn)

he used to say that he had changed a nappy for me... (with that hard done by look) I used to tell him that I did not wear nappies and he was changing a nappy for his child.
oh and talking of nappies, he used to not put anything on ds's willy when he took off the nappy, and the inevitable first sign of a draught going off ike a fire hose happened. ds weed on his own head a couple of times... oh the joy when it went up the wall and onto his record collection, and when ds scored a direct hit on ex's head.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/04/2015 13:05

I have been shopping again... did I mention the new hotpoint fridge freezer is up shit creek? only a million times

put most of it away. some is by the door. some is in the car as I could not carry it all up in one go.

tidied the floor a bit, trying to keep on top of it, also finished a corner I forgot.

hung up some washing to dry and put another load on.

bought two pe bags for 50p each to hang up their woolley hats in summer and their sunsuits in winter.

fattymcfatfat · 21/04/2015 13:25

I have been shopping today aswell. for some reason I thought doing roast chicken and veg for tea in this heat would be a good idea Hmm

meglet · 21/04/2015 21:43

I think my house is a bit tidier than when I started this thread Hmm.

Just had a naice M&S high protein ready meal , eaten out of the plastic dish. No washing up for me!

I am having a break from writing a formulaic response to the DWP. apparently dd does not need significantly more help than your healthy 8 year old. like fuck.

LostAgainToday · 22/04/2015 12:37

Hi all,

Can I join in here? Will RTFT later but have just been browsing cross trainers to buy - looking for a compact one to fit in my bedroom. Anyone happen to have one?

I am very recently single (again) with a 7 y/o DS.

I have lost a bit of weight in the past couple of weeks and want to tone up a bit now. The exercise will help take my mind off things and hopefully help me sleep better at night.

Am currently job-hunting too. Suddenly find myself with new motivation and hoping it doesn't wear off!

I think my biggest problem will be eating healthily. If I'm on my own I tend to live on sandwiches and stir fries. Will always cook DS something healthy but I rarely feel like eating with him at the time he has his evening meal. I find eating alone really depressing and often just sit on the kitchen worktop with something quick.

I never seem to want to sit at the table to eat when I'm alone but will have a cuppa with DS while he eats.

Going to have to start getting used toal this again as cooking and eating at the table together was something ex DP and I really enjoyed.

Look forward to RTFT though Hoping for a boost and some good ideas Brew

BlackeyedSusan · 22/04/2015 13:10

well, you have obviously NOT read the thread... it is full of moaning about the house work we are not doing but should be.

stir fries can be reasonably healthy depending on their contents and how much oil/which oil.

we do celebrate small victories though, so if you want a cheer for not having eaten sandwiches for tea, here is where you will get it. (imagine the response on AIBU)

fattymcfatfat · 22/04/2015 13:22

exercise is attempted in small doses but I think we have discovered it nearly kills us so we celebrate small victories such as walking to the shop Grin good luck in your health kick though and if you do want to Moan you know where we are

LostAgainToday · 22/04/2015 13:34

Walking to the shop is definitely going to be a LARGE part of my exercise 'regime'. It is knackering carrying all those loaves of bread and tins of soup home you know! Think a cross trainer will be helpful because I can do that while watching Netflix..

I'm sure I will be back for a pat on the back for having my sandwich filling in a wholemeal pitta and not plastic white bread. I suspect stir in pasta sauce and spinach will feature heavily too Grin

fattymcfatfat · 22/04/2015 13:41

I have an airwalker thing. not that it gets used yet! but that's because I am upduffed Wink

meglet · 22/04/2015 13:47

two fecking days, TWO fecking days.... AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

been dealing with sending more information and refuting information re dd's dla claim. I am wrung out thinking about all her difficulties. to top that dd found the half printed version in the living room that I forgot to put away. that was difficult.

oh and AF is being a bugger about arriving. I may have a week with her not arrriving and pissing me off or maybe with luck tomorrow. before I murder someone.

fattymcfatfat · 23/04/2015 22:58

oh dear. I feel lucky that so far I haven't needed any extra support for my DCs as they are both ok. (apart from slight hearing loss in one ear for DS but they think that it is temporary)
hope AF arrives soon and puts you out of your misery

BlackeyedSusan · 23/04/2015 23:50

yeah before I put someone out of theirs....

fattymcfatfat · 23/04/2015 23:52

take it the ex is pissing you off? whats he done now?

BlackeyedSusan · 24/04/2015 00:07

not the ex specifically, though eh would be best to avoid coming this weekend. he knows well enogh not to ask anything. though he probably will. got a bee in his bonnet about me taking the childenup there for his birthday... arse. too fucking shattered and only done four frigging days of term.

more murderous pmt. tis my age you know.

BlackeyedSusan · 24/04/2015 00:08

would not do the children any good if I wrapped the car round a tree.

fattymcfatfat · 24/04/2015 01:11

it wouldn't. unfortunately children need their mum's. even when we get all growed up Grin

if you want I can hit your ex over the head with my crutches. it may knock some sense into him Wink

meglet · 25/04/2015 17:18

Just a reminder of the fitness blender website for anyone who wants free workout sessions. If you scroll to the bottom of the page it gives you the link to the free videos. Lots of shorter ones too if you search through all the options.

I've just dysoned my lounge Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 25/04/2015 19:28

right, well, I have washed the new storage boxes.. no point them being dusty to start. the compartmentalised box that I bought to store lego... my weird birthday present, and the ones that were reduced in aldi.

I have faffed about trying to get some of yesterdays washing aired in the sun.. when it did come out,

I have done another load of laundry and hung that, washed two pe bags that I am going to hang in the doors of the childrens wardrobe (yes the one they share) to store their winter hats and scarves in summer and swimming stuff in winter. there actually may be room behinnd the stacker boxes for them which would be even better.

I have put dry pots away and washed up and am currently cooking bean soup for tea.

ex turned up at 6.30 and got sent down with the recycling.

I also spent three hours sorting out my mothers disaster area of getting scammed and talking her through setting up a password for her phone provider, by ringing all the options first and telling her what buttons to press. she panicked first time as she thought she is not allowed to push buttons as she has been read the riot act for giving away her bank details.

meglet · 25/04/2015 19:45

the dc's have winter and summer boxes black. It really helps.

I have winter and summer big ikea bags because I have so many clothes

BlackeyedSusan · 25/04/2015 21:31

twonk dropped dd on her head. ffs. I have banned sitting on shoulders and walking about, but now he has decided that sitting in a small room with many edges of wooden furniture withing landing distance is a good idea.
