Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

OP posts:
slng · 31/12/2009 10:44

Ran out of curry powder . Have resorted to grinding my own.

Kids awake at 5.38am. Another .

sfxmum · 31/12/2009 11:19

tilly think M&S will be the purveyor of treats today as I am not in the mood to bake

dusty how is it going? have you unplugged the PC? hope all is well

slng no that is too early

dd woke up twice during the night and insisted on me staying with her, I think she is starting to worry about going back to school and having lunch there, in the end I took her to my bed and she slept until just after 9.

think dh on cooking duty tonight

slng · 31/12/2009 12:46

sfx - I am also getting worried about going back to school ... Is DD having packed lunch or school dinner?

Waiting for friends to turn up so we can eat the curry. It's extra special with bean curd sticks. Yum! (Hopefully.)

sfxmum · 31/12/2009 13:41

slng it is packed lunch as per request, am worried about the guidelines issued as am bound to fall short, dd has said she wants cheese sandwiches everyday

vbus · 31/12/2009 14:28

Hello all

DS2 still up last night again so just woken from a long snooze. We may still go out tonight (just to local with neighbours, nothing wild!) as it's 1st time I'm not pregnant/with newborn/have someone to babysit

Tough for those with night wakings and early starts

Been on fun playdate this morning with nursery pal, now DS1 keeps asking when nursery starts again.
PCW - good idea about h'row gym, might try it on Mon, anyone else free?

DH taking DS1 to Room on Broom on 31st in Kingston

Tilly - enjoy Snowman I got DS1 the dvd as he loved the book so much

Slng - can't imagine what quinoa tastes like, I always use it for savoury dishes, I'm intrigued, have you got recipe to share please? Racing looks fun, may shoo the boys out of the house for it if DS1 not too tired!

slng · 31/12/2009 16:52

vbus - cake recipe. What else is quinoa good for? Never cooked with it before.

sfx - guidelines for packed lunch? Ours have no fizzy drinks, no crisps, no chocolate. That's all. Difficult to fall short of that! But for first few weeks it's probably good idea to give her cheese sandwich everyday if she wants. No harm in that, I'm sure. Many different cheeses available in our local supermarket. I find that it's me who gets bored with packing the same lunch everyday, not DS1 ...

sfxmum · 31/12/2009 17:48

tilly refused to watch Snowman today we will try again soon

vbus hope you manage some distraction that waking up business is rough

slng I use it in stews / casseroles and in salads mostly
about guidelines there are many DO NOT use the same lunch everyday, use brown thick bread, pitta or wraps all wholemeal, salad and fruit in ever meal, mostly low fat fillings
but then again they say that a slice of pizza or sausage roll is acceptable
no nuts
am sure it will be fine and she will ask for school dinners soon

made a simple sponge for pudding

slng · 31/12/2009 18:25

sfx - wholemeal pitta smells. Low fat fillings? What are those? But sausage rolls acceptable!? Can't stand these wannabe dieticians. Our school says no chocolate but DS1 says kids bring them in anyway and the teachers help them open the packets! It's all these inconsistencies that really drive me up the wall. Makes me see red ... Anyway I quite enjoy making up packed lunch. My latest obsession: bento boxes.

tillyfernackerpants · 31/12/2009 18:28

Snowman was great, I think they show it every year so really recommend it for next year!

Have had a lovely day out with ds1 as well, dh had ds2, nice to have some one to one as it doesn't happen very often now.

vbus, hope you have a nice time out. Actually, we're about on Monday if you fancied meeting up? Am happy to do Heathrow Gym

Sfx, the curry house will be cooking for us tonight & the supermarket provided chocolates

Dusty, you're probably not logged on but just in case, good luck for tomorrow.

Happy New Year to everyone

slng · 01/01/2010 19:25

We went to see banger racing! Freezing, but very exciting. Pictures on FB.

Now for a warming curry to the accompaniment of The Italian Job.

dustythedolphin · 02/01/2010 16:07

Banger racing - is that a contest between sausages?

Happy New Year everyone

We're in hotel in Limerick until the heating has been tested in the new house. Explored Limerick this morning, which was fabby, but now all exhausted from yesterday's move and about to take a siesta. The great thing about hotels is there is little gto do apart from relax

stepfordwife · 02/01/2010 17:29

happy new year everyone
dusty - oh no! exactly what you were worried about with me saying;'of COURSE the heating will be working!"
but fab to stay in hotel..

vbus..hope you enjoyed your nye out. i stayed in - was invited to a few parties, but the boys asked us to watch a movie with them and then stay up until midnight...ds1 made it until 9pm and ds2 11pm..by then i was a couch potato in PJs and couldn't be bothered to drag my arse out..

tilly, yes it is fab to have some one-to-one time, isn't it?

was supposed to be working today with deadlines looming again, dh took boys to see avatar and MIL took dd out, so perfect opportunity...ended up faffing around richmond...intended to get home before everyone else and sneak up to the loft....but bumped into dh on way home...
busted!

stepfordwife · 02/01/2010 17:31

dr who...thoughts?
rather over-blown in parts, but i enjoyed it. sad to see DT go, but i think matt smith will be fab, too.
did anyone see him in party animals on bbc2..he played a parliamentary researcher and his brother was a journalist.
i seem to be the only person who watched it..

vbus · 02/01/2010 19:19

Happy New Year to all

Dusty - enjoy hotel comfort, can't quite believe you've left Hope heating gets sorted out soon in this weather

Slng - will have a look at FB soon, glad you enjoyed it. Ta for recipe, I usually just boil up with stock and chuck in a load of chopped/roast veg, cheese or chicken for a quick lunch

Steppie - nice to have a bit of time off inbetween deadlines

Tilly - really sorry, can't make Mon now as my cousin is over from the US and she now wants to visit us on mon instead of Tues. Will try and go to H'row gym on Fri instead if that's any better for you?

We did go out in the end for NYe and it was good fun. Teething seems to be easing off a bit, this seems to have been the roughest period so far thankfully my ma has been brill support, otherwise would've truly gone insane. Had a lovely walk round Hampton Hill side of Bushy park today. I love this weather!

dustythedolphin · 02/01/2010 19:34

Vbus I love it too! All crispy etc

Steps - LOL at you being busted shopping, think of all the money you've saved by shopping in New Year sales lol!!!

at those who got to go to NY parties

dustythedolphin · 02/01/2010 19:35

ps. can I still come on this thread, now I am "west Ireland" rather than "west London" ?

sfxmum · 02/01/2010 19:57

hello

slng nice pics very boys day out

steppie NYE in Pj's so rock'n'roll

vbus lovely to have support, sleep deprivation really is awful

tilly expect ds1 enjoyed 1:1 too

I have an essay to write by midnight 4/01 and I had read bugger all for it, as of 2 days ago, so will do my best to waffle and bluff my way through it
dh has been helpful in keeping dd busy out of the house

love this weather too managed a couple of nice short runs
speaking of which do check out the MN stickie about Macmillan some of you already know what it is about

sfxmum · 02/01/2010 19:59

meant to say Dusty sorry about the heating but do enjoy the touristy status while you can
what do you mean can you still post here?

dustythedolphin · 02/01/2010 20:44

dustythedolphin · 03/01/2010 09:07

Good luck with your essay
