Just been on the phone for an hour. Now time for washing up and a glug - most remiss of me not to have a glug while on the phone ...

sparkly - yes it's crumpets this time ... Will have a go at muffins next after perfecting crumpets

Morning all,

Dh has to go finish his shopping this morning so its the first time I've had both boys on my own . I'm hoping making snowflakes will keep ds1 occupied!

Sfx, did you manage to get out for a run today?

Kew, good to know you'll get at least some money back! We'll be around over xmas as well if you & gherkin want to pop over.

Auntie, have sent you an email.

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 09:33

good morning all

ros failing that cbeebies can help too, just don't stress
not been out yet as just got up and having a cup of tea, throat still hurts will see how I feel in a minute

rosmerta · 20/12/2008 09:38

thanks sfx, he also likes the cbeebies website! Has done ever since we came to yours and minisfx was showing him it

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 09:54

obviously mini sfx is a bad influence, we were writing cards and dh was saying 'now we need to write the address' and she said
ok w w w 21st century girl

rosmerta · 20/12/2008 10:15

...

pcworld · 20/12/2008 13:17

Cripes, Kew, what dreadfully bad luck. But - good to hear you can claim back on insurance. And sounds like you are doing a great job sorting out all sorts of other Christmas outings - indeed, a few days by the sea will hopefully do you both good. Hope all illnesses and aches/pains vanish soon.

All pretty frantic at this end, various illnesses finally disappearing, school over and me now frantically busy but "nice busy" with loads of baking, wrapping, cooking to do etc etc ...

Auntie, do you need to insulate your loft?

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 20/12/2008 13:41

Ros - entetainment will be pep talk by CEO followed by DVD followed by watching colleagues get rat arsed

will check e-mail

SFX - LOL at corporate Xmas lunch in lebanese - I bet that dancer could tell you a few stories about wha she has to contend with from drunken customers eh?

Hi PC - [waves]

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 20/12/2008 13:51

Are you all busy around new year? Perhaps we could aim for either an evening Mamma Mia again or afternoon with DC's.

Am also thinking of taking DS over to Kew Boxing day - we did it last year and really enjoyed it.

Wasn't this nice www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/669728-I-should-be-sitting-on-a-cruise-being-plied-with?rnd=1229779379480

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 14:19

oh bless KC and whoever did the did
all warm and fuzzy now

I did go running and dh took dd to shop, I enjoyed it but he got back with a twitch and a cooked ham when I CLEARLY wrote down 2kg semi cured gammon, well less cooking for me

and now my family might not show up tomorrow because they all seem to have the plague or something so to bake or not to bake the Clementine cake?
was going to do ham and spiced red cabbage for tomorrow, house full of booze and threats too, what to do what to do?

pc happy baking dd was talking about your 2 today

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 14:20

deed not did

and yes should be free on new year back late on 27th

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 20/12/2008 14:27

if no family then we will be around in the afternoon to eat cake...

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 14:29

you can come eat cake and ham regardless of family being here, am sure niece and nephew would love to play with your ds, besides they may be prospective babysitters

so it is a yes to bake then?

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 20/12/2008 14:32

definteily bake - we are going to Cbeebies at 11am so will need some exciting entertainment in the afternoon - teenagers sound just the ticket.

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 14:33

ok that is a date then

pcworld · 20/12/2008 20:39

Oooh sounds like delicious fayre (I HATE that word) at SFX's tomorrow! Well it has all gone pear-shaped here and have to cancel our little party tomorrow as dd appears to have come down with some hideous vomiting bug. Honestly, this has been the most anti-social festive season for quite some time! In the meantime I have a half-baked tray of millionaire shortbread in the kitchen. Will finish tomorrow and distribute round the neighbours, I think. Off now to start a good book. Too much rubbish TV is not good for the soul!

SFX what did you decide re: the clementine cake? At this end am scared to make it as, the way things are going here, I'll just sit and eat it all myself! Have already worked my way through far too many "treats" single-handedly ...

sparklyxmasfairy · 20/12/2008 21:08

pc sorry to hear dd is not well poor poppet
millionaires short bread yum

clementine cake in oven as I type and will bake some bread in the morning, sister and children decided against visit so am counting on KC to eat cake and should anyone else like to pop around in the afternoon don't be shy

will not cook stuff next time they come it will all be shop bought

pcworld · 21/12/2008 09:20

Shop bought?!?! shudder

I wish we could join you. But I guess in all fairness, even though dd seems fine, we should give it 24 hours. I just can't risk passing this on to anyone, I wouldn't be thanked!

So, dunno what we will do today - perhaps Kew!

Hope everyone else well and clear of ghastly bugs and viruses!

sparklyxmasfairy · 21/12/2008 09:46

yes so there

good morning all must brave shops today
hope everyone is well today

mellow2 · 21/12/2008 15:25

Hello, everyone.

We've been fairly anti-social ourselves. Short days and busy shop has left dd tetchy and I little time to socialise.

PC - Hope dd recovers quickly. Would love to see mini-PC and you during Christmas holidays.

Kew - Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Glad you managed to claim on insurance.

Sfx - Would be really nice to see you tomorrow.

Auntie - Well done on the annual review and impressed with all the bigwigs you hobnob with.

Steppie - Hope your builders shape up in time for the family to have Christmas dinner.

sparklyxmasfairy · 21/12/2008 15:53

mellow yes to tomorrow only have to drop by nursery to leave present all the rest I can work around visit

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 21/12/2008 17:15

Kew - that is a lovely gesture isn't it???

We are around over the hols and have a few little bits planned but plenty of time with not much planned too

DD said to me yesterday "Mummy, I think you had better come down stairs - there is a really BIG emergency in the kitchen"

The Fat Toddler had broken a bottle of Rock's blackcurrant juice, so there was a huge purple puddle on the floor. Non content with the colourful mess, he opened a packet of tiny pastas and scattered them all over the floors of three rooms, including in the purple puddle.

I took 30 minutes to clean. When I has finished I went upstairs and he had pulled his nappy box off the shelf. scattering nappies everywhere. He was eating the Sudocream and had spread it all over the bed, his face and his clothes

Ho, Ho, Ho

Hello!

Auntie - at the FT's antics! Ho ho ho indeed.

We haven't been up to much - been to Bristol and back yesterday and everyone suitably knackered today. I did make a Lego garage though .

Kew - up for afternoon with DCs or evening with Mamma mia. Anyone else? So far all afternoons and evenings free apart from 25th, 27th and possibly 29th. Empty diary. Hurrah!

Picture of Joseph on profile.

Auntie - lol at the fat toddler! Although I'm sure that's not quite what you thought

SFX, how did the cake turn out? Hope you and Kew had a clement afternoon, geddit ... dh has likened my millionaire's shortbread to crack cocaine! Which I wasn't aware that he had experienced. It certainly appears to be good s**t. We will be delivering some to various neighbours tomorrow.

Mellow - would be lovely to see you over le hols, we will sort something out. I have hardly been on here recently, there is and has been soooo much going on within my family, most of it health related, unfortunately. Indeed, Dad is still in hospital and we do not know what is wrong with him.

Off out now to a carol service. Need some festive cheer!
