Fat Toddler coughing and snotty sneezing, poor mite

Is it true that chocolate cures the common cold???

Blurgh!!!

sfxmum · 24/02/2009 11:05

good morning all

and it had to rain just as I headed out for my run, oh well squinty it was

ros isn't it fantastic? BSG not ironing of course

auntie sorry you and FT are poorly, hope you have a speedy recovery

cov I expect it will be a relief come the ned of the school year, hope the food was yummy if nothing else.

SJ good old pop hey? it was called A life less ordinary I think

I worry about dd's current bubble gum pop tendencies I hope she grows out of it soon and starts liking proper music

sfxmum · 24/02/2009 11:07

and mrsR good to hear the bug has left, good riddance

btw first bread in bread maker turned out ok but will have to work on the recipe don't think the flavour was brilliant, still prefer handmade

SJ99 · 24/02/2009 11:28

Sfx - yes that's the name of film, thanks, can put that out of my mind now.
My bro left an 80's compilation cd at ours, this is the source of his new found music. He does also sing along with Kings of Leon 'six is on fire' LOL

Are you glad you bought breadmaker then? I expect it will save you some time

Auntie - I think that's right about choc curing colds, certainly always makes me feel better anyway

Slng - meant to say have you tried Freecycle for pianos?

sfxmum · 24/02/2009 12:04

funnily enough I was listening to 'because of the times' when out this morning, my nephew pretends it was not me who introduced him to KL bless must be confusing to his teen brain

pancakes to flip this evening dd likes that

slng · 24/02/2009 12:10

Hello!

We had pancakes for breakfast, and DS1 has pancakes for packed lunch. I think we are all pancaked-out now.

SJ - have just registered with freecycle. NOthing of note though ... Want "proper" piano which people probably don't want to give away. But will be useful to give away our old one.

Auntie - hope better soon!

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 24/02/2009 13:22

Yep pancake batter made here ready for tonight. DD is insisting on a totally pancake meal so we are having "chicken, ham and mushroom in a slightly cheesey sauce" pancakes followed by "melted chocolate, sliced strawberries and/or bananas with whipped cream" pancakes for pudding. Can't fob my lot off with a bit of lemon juice out a platic lemon and a sprinkle of sugar!

mygreatauntgriselda · 24/02/2009 13:42

SJ

SFX lol at "squinty" - is that an alternative to "sprinty"?

Just watched "Milk" - 'twas vary sad. The politics got me all excited tho' (about Gay Rights movement in America, very interesting)

MrsRecycle · 24/02/2009 14:54

shhhhhshhh can you lot be quiet about pancakes! I was told (ont Internet so must be true!) that it was last Tuesday so we went to the most expensive pancake house in Holland and celebrated last week. Am trying to keep it quiet from my lot. Mind you the pancakes were good.

slng · 24/02/2009 16:16

LOL MrsR! The only thing to do now is to have another celebration to rectify the matter. You can never have too many pancake days.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/02/2009 16:37

auntie your faith in me is touching but at my age I don't do sprinty more like shuffle along

mrsR pancakes 2 weeks in a row how lovely

have my batter done too dh is flipper in charge I think, maybe I should push for my Portuguese food of the day 2 kinds of lovely dough balls dep fried then eaten with molasses or sugar an cinnamon
actually tomorrow is my favourite catholic ritual of all, in fact Easter generally is much better than Christmas in the Catholic church imo

MrsRecycle · 24/02/2009 16:59

well both Dds have just reminded me it's pancake day! I've just done spagbol and a banana cake so hopefully that'll distract them.

stepfordwife · 24/02/2009 17:13

er, auntie...film piracy is against the law you know

stepfordwife · 24/02/2009 17:19

...oh, unless you've dome some clever trevor downloading malarkey of course which is beyond my luddite-esqe (non) capabilities..in which case humble apologies for the piarcay slur
hope you and FT feel better soon

hello all
yes, pancake day..thing is my lot have pancakes all the time (due to dh, not me) so what's so special about today, eh? eh?
they looked at me aghast when i told them back in the day i only had pancakes on pancake day...
only had hot cross buns at easter, etc

COV..my fave is the sugar and dash plastic lempn!
don't blame you for resigning as pta chair
sfx, yes easter a much better part of the catholic calendar, i agree

toodlepip

stepfordwife · 24/02/2009 17:37

..i've asked this before and, my friends, i'll ask again...
what's ironing?

rosmerta · 24/02/2009 17:48

Steppie, ironing is something dh wishes I did more of apparently

We've just had pancakes & strawberries for tea, ds1 wolfed them down & asked for more, my most successful pancake day to date!

Sfx, have just started watching BSG again so no spoilers please. Have only just found out who the 5th is!

slng · 24/02/2009 18:06

Steppie - ironing is when you say things that are a bit sarcastic. Or is that irony?

What is BSG?

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 24/02/2009 18:14

Yes intrigued as to bsg as well! Well still no pancakes but banana bread seems to have done the trick (it does have flour and eggs so nearly there). Mind you dd1 hasn't managed any of her favourite, she's just gone to bed with a hot water bottle around her stomach - think her first AF is on it's way (she only turned 11 2 weeks ago).

stepfordwife · 24/02/2009 19:26

sing

ros, well i've ironed maybe two shirts for dh in 14 years..both times he ironed them again..
so, sod that..

think i've been ironic/sarcastic a tad more often than twice, tho..

all your food sounds yummy. i've just had a tesco jam doughnut, will that do?

mrs r..aw bless yr dd. 11 does seem so young, but lots of girls enter puberty at 8 or 9 don't they?

my mother-in-law has just checked her air ticket and she goes back to oz thurs not friday,
will really miss her but after 6 months of builders and 3 consecutive months of MIL staying, it'll be strange but fab to have our house back again.
have a lovely evening all
toodlepip

sfxmum · 24/02/2009 19:35

for people who can't google BSG

will not spoil it for you Ros and don't click on the link that would be mean, it is so good these last few episodes I get goosebumps
but I am sci fi freak

mrsR bless your dd I got mine at around 12 I think

Steppie house for yourself sounds good

sfxmum · 24/02/2009 19:37

about ironing dh does his own he gets embarrassed and thanks me profusely if I occasionally iron his shirts, he makes comments along the lines of 'must be careful with this 50's lifestyle'

rosmerta · 24/02/2009 20:27

Sfx, ooh sounds very exciting!! I'm quite glad it will have an ending but also sad that it will be over. Though there is that other miniseries to come as well!

Slng, lol!

Ironing I do about once a year, then I remember why I don't do it!

MrsR, bless dd1. I remember when I first started mine, there was only me & my dad at home

slng · 24/02/2009 21:05

Just watched Oz Clark and James May and Masterchef. Aren't Oz and James May sweet? Like old married couple.

As for Masterchef - They dish out all this food, and you don't get the hairy fellow or the bald fellow going "But I don't like mushrooms today!" like in real life ...

OP posts:
rosmerta · 25/02/2009 07:53

slng, lol! I haven't seen any of this Masterchef, I started to feel a bit sorry for all the scallops as that's all anyone seemed to cook!

Seems a bit of a miserable day, what to do?!

SJ99 · 25/02/2009 08:43

Morning all

Can anyone tell me if the current Masterchef is a repeat? I have a huge sense of deja vue when I watch it. I agree, what's with the scallops, there in every other dish!
Slng - I like James & Oz too!

No pancakes for us yesterday because I forgot Dh most disappointed when he came home, will try and do some at wkend instead

We will have to head to library today. Went all the way there on Mon to discover it was closed, hope to have a better trip today.

Hope DS1 in a better mood today, he's fast turning into a devil child - green eyed monster surfacing now and general under the weather cold & teething making him into a grump, great
