Oooo!!! I get to start a new thread!!!

Hope you find me!

OP posts:
MaSTARRecycle · 18/12/2008 10:27

oxo's dd2's name is the same as my full name and my dd2's middle name.

MaSTARRecycle · 18/12/2008 13:26

ros - meant to say well done on having some quality time with ds1. Its something I would relish with my 3 but, sadly, is very limited. But as they get older, they'd much rather be with their dfs than their DMs.

slng - you must have been so proud of ds-Joseph. Glad the school has some favourable attributes. My latest instalment is that they have just texted me to tell me that there are no school dinners tomorrow. Why bother going in if its only until 1pm and they aren't providing lunch? So I see a sickie coming on (again!).

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 18/12/2008 13:50

I like Sarah Jane but Justin makes me feel very ill - do you think he has had an enhanced CRB check done?

Kew sorry to hear you missed your deadline - that really is the pits you are being very philosophical about it but I guess you and DS have been through worse than this - like when you were stuck in Kazak for 3 months including Christmas with no papers/passport

Mrs I - I saw Dan - he was very tasy too

SJ99 · 18/12/2008 15:53

Hello all

KC - did it arrive in time? Hope so, fingers crossed for you

Ros - glad to enjoyed time with DS1, I constantly feel guilty that I have to ignore DS1 when I'm feeding etc, not much choice. Still I have to remind myself that DS1 had lots of lovely times just the two of us which DS2 will not get.DS2 massive feeding frenzy this week = not much sleep for me, aarggh

Auntie - well done at work!

Sfx - hope DD is on the mend

Well time's up for me, hope everyone well

SJ99 · 18/12/2008 15:53

KC - oh no, sorry, just re-read you missed your deadline

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/12/2008 18:49

passport final arrived at 3.30pm (boat left southhampton at 4pm so no chance) - it had been send second class post...

Mother has tonsilitis and my knee is in serious difficulties so we have both been to doctor this morning to try to cliam on the insurance. Then DS started throwing up but seems to havestopped now. Then my mum locked herself out of her car and we had to get a locksmith out.

It wasn;t a good day.

Haveno food in the house so off to supermarket tomorrow - not my idea of a holiday. Feeling a bit less philiospohical now that my nrother and his family are at sea and hopefully having a lovely time.

Still as you say, we have been through worse.

AtheneNoctua · 19/12/2008 08:08

Oh no, Kew. What a horrible day. I'm so sorry.

Today will surely be better.

rosmerta · 19/12/2008 08:17

Kew, am sorry you missed it. How frustrating. Hope you all feel better anyway.

I've just realised its xmas day next week & I haven't got dh's present, I don't even know what to get him! So anyway, I'll be in Richmond today if anyone wants to meet up for a coffee. If that's not incentive enough then you'll get to meet ds2

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2008 09:00

and this morning I have no hot water

AtheneNoctua · 19/12/2008 09:04

Good grief, Kew. You must have been really bad in a previous life.

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 09:35

KC atheist that I am just go get blessed, or come around for a shower we will be around

and btw just how long do children's coughs last? am thinking maybe this is one for the doctor

hi all, Ros would love to meet ds2 and see ds1 too but am housebound again today I think so no Richmond for me, still a couple of presents to get too

hope everyone else if faring better

slng · 19/12/2008 09:40

Morning all!

Kew - bad luck! Is it the boiler? We used these people and they were quite prompt. Sorry no experience of exorcism.

sparkly - coughs last FOREVER. Until you forget when they've ever NOT coughed. Then one day you suddenly realise they are not coughing. At which point they acquire another infection.

Ros - would love to come but did Richmond last week and now have to catch up with work! Having said that we might have to give in a get a tiny Christmas tree. A plastic one. But where?

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 19/12/2008 10:13

QC - sorry to hear that you had to cancel the cruise trip. If your DS has D&V which is highly contageous the ship wouldn't allow him on board so this should help claim the insurance? Anyway, hope today is better day for you all.

sfx - DS's coughs lasted over month. It's hard to shake off, it seems. As long as they are eating and sleeping OK, I wouldn't worry too much. I took DS to doctor when he developed chest infection with temp higher than 40 degree.

ros - would love to see DS2 but I'm stuck in my office. I haven't bought anything for DH, either (not even a card).

Hope everyone is well.

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 10:36

thanks slng/ sushi re coughs, I think since September dd has been catching stuff every week from nursery, guess it is good to build up the immune system, she had a very mildly raided temp a couple of nights ago otherwise just wakes herself up with the violence of the cough, it is hard to know about food as she doesn't eat much anyway

must go hunt for missing parcel, it has dd Christmas party dress so much find it

SushiMummy · 19/12/2008 10:49

sfx - DS was the same in the beginning of his nursery days, catching illness/infection one after another. I ran out of my paid holidays one year and I seriously thought about quitting the nursery life or my job. It was hard. But things DO get better. Hope your delivery arrives soon. Btw, do they still have Xmas thingy at KG this weekend?

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 11:04

sushi I think that dd being older helps her fight it better but is a continuous stream of snot and coughs at least no nits, yet

AtheneNoctua · 19/12/2008 13:14

I think it well known that going to nursery is good for building up the immune system.

MaSTARRecycle · 19/12/2008 13:18

Kew - Am completely astounded that they sent the passport 2nd class at Christmas, and even more astounded that you received it before Christmas. Do hope you can claim on the insurance - I think Sushi's suggestion is very good. Tell them that you couldn't get to the Doctors because you were told to stay at home by them.

I remember when dd2 used to go to Nursery and she used to pick up every bug doing the round and I hardly did a day's work. In the end, I pulled her out and sent her to a CM who never worried at the slightest cold she had. I used to get called in at nursery because she had sore eyes (yes because she'd been screaming for 30 minutes when I left her) and they wanted a doctors note that she would be ok to go to nursery.

In terms of coughs, ds has been dragging on and the best thing is rubbing vics on his chest morning and night. This really seems to shift it.

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 16:43

am so bored can't believe I have been in all week, am setting the alarm and legging it in the morning

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 16:44

mreR vicks is marvellous stuff and it takes me back

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2008 19:48

think we are going to be able to claim most of the cost back on health grounds as I buggered my knee (technical medical term) really badly and doctor agreed that he would sign cliam form. My mother has tonisilitis so hot footed it down to her doctor who signed a form for her too. I thinki I can clqim for DS on the grounds that hecan'treally go wihtout me so we are out of pocket the amount for the fictitious person sharing my motehrs cabin as we don;t have insurance for her! That was becauce it was cheaper to book a cabin for two than a single occupancy cabin.

DS's illness didn;t really come on until after doctor visit.

I think its just a virus - one morning of throwing up and a nasty cough/temp/sore throat runny nose etc. Bad night with him last night but at least I didn;t have to get up and go to work

Have booked Cbeebies live for Sunday morning and going to Godstone farm to see their Xmas stuff on MOnday Then have a friend coming up on 27th on her way out of the country and she's lent me her flat in Brighton so will go down for a couple of days before New Year to catch up with my brother and his gang post cruise.

Am trying to make the bext of a bad job and trying to think that it wouldnt have been nice dealing with sick DS on a holiday ...

slng · 19/12/2008 20:29

Hurrah! School is over!!

We are now proud owners of a real Christmas tree. They've ALL sold out of plastic ones in Hanwell and West Ealing! I think I can put up with pine needles for a couple of weeks. After that it's going outside. I think it needs a bigger pot too ...

Kew - good that you can claim back some money. Hope you have a nice time. Give us a call if you are at a loose end and perhaps DS would like to come and sample the the train tracks here! Speaking as a very lazy but capricious person I think being stuck in London is much more fun than being stuck on a cruise ...

sparkly - I am bored too. But not bored enough to go running.

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 19/12/2008 20:44

Kew - excellent news about the insurance, that would be great

The Fat Toddler is a bit under the weather too - temperture and sore throat and I feel freezing in this drafty house. I have to wear my fleecy Primark dressing gown over my clothes indoors to keep warm and unfortunatly it is in the washing machine ATM

Does anyone else have a house which is hard to keep warm?

Only one more day in the offce - Monday we have corporate party - we get picked up at 9am and dropped back at 8pm - between which times we get fed champagne and a several course meal

Just found out am going to meet Boris Johnson's housing advisor again in January

KewcumbersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2008 20:44

Ah slng but cruise means - no shopping or cooking and a kids club so I get some time to read a book...

sparklyxmasfairy · 19/12/2008 21:32

hi all

kew good to know you will get some dosh back hope you just enjoy the coming days

slng time to perfect the crumpets? had a look at the other thread
