HI Kew,
I'm glad that you're home. Hope you slept well last night.

Steppie - Living in one room with 3 kids underfoot and builders and trying to work? There's a nosy part of me that would be interested to find out what it's like but I imagine that I would get too stressed with the whole situation.

Sausage - That's a shame that dh has been working Sundays.

rosmerta · 21/09/2008 09:02

lol steppie!

Funeral is tomorrow. I do have a dress I can wear but the boots that I have to wear with it aren't very comfortable. I'm going to pop out again today & see if I can find something. I tried explaining all this to dh last night, poor thing just looked blank & scared! I know I shouldn't stress but its my dad's side of the family & if I don't look like I've made an effort, there will be whisperings & mutterings which I can do without.

mellow2 · 21/09/2008 09:03

Ros - Dont' get too stressed about what to wear. As Steppie says all that matters is that you'll be there.

rosmerta · 21/09/2008 09:03

Sorry Kew, am glad you're home, has ds left your side yet?

stepfordwife · 21/09/2008 09:05

sfxmum · 21/09/2008 09:05

kew hope first night back in your own bed was comforting, expect ds is happy too. am very glad you are out of hospital and hope the rest of the treatment goes well. do you have something rare and exotic?

ros I hope the funeral goes well please don't stress about clothing being there should be good enough

steppie you brave soul hope all goes well

I think dh will be working today because he needs the day off tomorrow, not really looking forward to it but needs must I guess

hope everyone else is ok

sfxmum · 21/09/2008 09:09

slng · 21/09/2008 09:51

Morning all!

Welcome back Kew! Naughty platelets, as DS2 would say. Hope they behave from now on.

Ros - mutterings at funerals? I've always been quite oblivious (a brick wall is nothing compared to me) to mutterings, though it's quite amusing listening to my mum telling me what has been said about whom when we were little. All these pillars of society are not quite what they seemed.

ComeOVeneer · 21/09/2008 10:57

Ros hope it goes well.

Kew great to see you home, hope you had a decent nights sleep. Bet ds is thrilled to have you home. Have they got to the bottom of what has caused this? Anything I can do to help out - food/ internet shopping etc?

Dh off to play golf today, dd has a b'day party to attend and ds is going to "help" me with some gardening. Full on roast beef with all the trimmings tonight, then a long hot soak in the bath with a glass of wine. Hope everyone else has a lovely Sunday too!

Only shadow on the horizon is dh has a doctor's appt tomorrow am where I suspect he is going to be told he has/is developing some form of diabetes.

Not terrible familiar with the ins and outs of it, but you blood sugar level should be somewhere betwen 5-8 normally (this is a very basic summary btw). Dh had a fasting level of 9 and after having a glucose drink and retesting 2 hours later (like they do to us when pregnant) it was 17. Not sure what this means.

Am hoping it means a loss of weight and improved diet (home food is fine, it is the stuff he has at work and the frequent dinners out, food ordered in when working late that is the problem) rather than medication etc.

Poor guy, first psoriasis, then psoriatic arthritis, now this. Anyway fingures crossd it just means I have to whip him into shape a bit more (have told him I am going to send him in with packed lunches ).

rosmerta · 21/09/2008 17:16

Quiet today, guess everyone's out enjoying the sunshine! We seem to have been touring the parks of Ealing!

Cov, hope dh is ok & its not too serious.

slng · 21/09/2008 18:39

Hello all.

We went swimming in the morning. Pool was a bit cold so we didn't stay long. Played in the park in the afternoon. We tried to climb a few trees which was fun. Cuckoo Park is so underrated. DS1 got stung by stinging nettle while foraging for blackberries though ... Where did you go Ros?

sfx - baked some soft white baps Really yummy!

SJ99 · 21/09/2008 19:38

Hello all

Kew - bet you're glad to be home after your ordeal, I'm sure DS is pleaed to have you back.

Ros - hope all goes well for funeral

COV - good luck for DH appointment

Paddle - how annoying with other driver but glad covered by insurance

Steppie - hope all goes well with next stage of rennovations

SBS - hope you enjoyed your self depsite DH working

We had a great trip to Oxford yesterday & spent a lot of today at Bushy park, deer watching, sandpitting and picnicking!

Hope everyone else enjoyed the sunshine

SJ99 · 21/09/2008 19:58

Forgot to say Steppie - I watched Merlin, thought it was ok, maybe it will grow on me...

rosmerta · 21/09/2008 22:06

I didn't bother with Merlin, thought it was going to be a bit like Robin Hood, you know more for the hoodie generation!

Slng, we went to Boston Manor Park this morning, tried to go to the Bunny Farm this afternoon but the car park was full so ended up at Brent Lea Park which we've never been to before, it was ok. Where's Cuckoo Park?

susiecutiebananas · 21/09/2008 22:36

Just nipping on!

Hello all you lovely people

HOpe you have all had nice weekends.

SO please you are back home Kew. ( i'm even tempted to offer you a hug!!! )

Steppie- I wish i'd seen it. I saw it advertised, and for some reason, thought it was a repeat of last sunday's edition! Why? What on earth was I thinking? so, i missed it. I saw an interview with Richard Wilson and the merlin actor who is also a scottish actor being english btw! it intrigued me. Was it godo then? I thought your DS would be insisting on the X-factor being on.

OK, sorry, the next bit is long... and probably boring, but could do with some advice... I know I ought to put it in Relatioships, but don't quite feel up to the criticism I'd most likely get. Sorry.... I promise I won't keep going on aout my boring H issues.
SO...
I got very tough with H today. Still no phone contact. JUst some emails. He sent a ridiculous one telling me he wasn't reading mine as they were too long, (i reckon they're half a page at most) and could I cut and paste the essential bits!!!!
I basically told him where I would be sticking the cut and pasted paragraphs. That I had had enough, completely of the whole thing. Of being walked all over. Etc etc.. and that for the time being, and certainly for the near future, I was out, of the whole relationship. that is wa up to him to make the effort. To prove to me that I mean more than shit to him etc.. Broke my heart typing it, but I had to. For my own sanity.

Just had one back, begging me not to be angry with him. That he's just been drowning in work and worrying about how we will all manage etc... Then saying can he come home tomorrow, after work, and that he will get of early and drive down, and would like to stay the night and go back to derby in the morning... I don't know wether to reply or not. Or if I should say no, its not ok. I don't want to play games, I would love to see him, but I don't want him to think that it's that easy anymore. That he can treat me so terribly, and that one visit will make it all ok. Don't know what to do. Having said that, I don't really have any way to do anything, as his phone is still off and he won't be in office to get his emails. hmmm, so confused. Glad he's taken me a little seriously though.

Hmmm, anyway, do hope you are all well.

Anyone fancy getting together some time this week. IF the weather stays like it is, Kew would be gorgeous. Or of course, as always, anyone is welcome to come here.

ComeOVeneer · 22/09/2008 12:24

Morning all.

Well dh has been diagnosed with diabetes. Not sure if type 1 or 2 yet, so he has to have further tests. Hopefully type 2 and we can control it with diet and if necessary oral medication. I amgoing to have to be strict with him over his diet, can already think of several things to alter/get rid of. I am a little scared as to what this may mean longterm, poor bloke, first the psorasis/psoriatic arthritis, now this!!! [sd]

sillybigsausage · 22/09/2008 12:25

h pant, we missed Merlin

Kew - glad you are home again - how are you feeling in yourself?

Tempted to ask whether you feel drained, but probably not a good choice of words

My sister is on high does steriods and they make her tired, she can't drink much and they've caused some bloatng. Apart from that I know nothing..

Ros - I had some black mat clothes you coul have worn but have only just read your posts. I hope the funeral went OK today [hugs]

slng · 22/09/2008 12:25

Hello all!

Where is everybody?

We are having a light tube thingy installed in the bathroom. Builders coming in and out. It's bloody freezing!

Susie - sorry you are having such a rough time . Sorry no advice ... In my experience some people are not very good at understanding women and they might need a simple precise to-do list to get them started, like maybe a text everyday to start with ...

sillybigsausage · 22/09/2008 12:26

CoV - oh your poor DH - a worry for you too

SJ99 · 22/09/2008 12:50

Hello all

Been busy this morning, finally finished unpacking in kitchen, got some stuff delivered & just got lots of bits and bobs done.

Slng - hope buidlers won'ttake too long, wear lots of jumpers!

Cov - sorry to hear about DH, fingers crossed it is type 2

Susie - sorry to hear things are still rough for you. Not sure what to advise, I suspect only you know what the answer is. I guess if he's willing to make some effort then that's a start. Anyway would be nice to meet up this week, will text you.

Off for nap now!

slng · 22/09/2008 13:24

Oh Ros, where is Brent Lea park? Cuckoo park is just at the end of our road, where the Hanwell community centre is. It's a bit run down, with a couple of slightly sad playgrounds. It's got small hilly bits and clumps of trees that the childen call woods. Lots of dog walkers, and lots of children when the sun is out. It's big and neglected and lovely and would probably be very scary when the sun goes down...

sfxmum · 22/09/2008 17:39

hello all

Paddlechick666 · 22/09/2008 18:56

evening all, quiet around here!

CoV, so sorry to hear about your DH. You will have to excercise your culinary skills and branch into diabetic cooking.

Ros, hope today went well.

Busy at work here but unfortunately dd had to be collected at 2:30 after being sick. She's been on the sofa in PJs grabbing the sick bowl all arvo.

We had a lovely weekend with my friends. They spoiled us rotten with delicious home made food and we drank lots of wine.

They live near Queens Wood so we also had some lovely walks. DD was brilliantly behaved on Saturday, not so good on Sunday but, as usual late nights/early morning combos have that effect.

Hope everyone else okay.

Am in a quandry as to what to do tomorrow as I have a heavy office based workload this week.

Will see how the night goes.

slng · 22/09/2008 19:28

Evening!

Paddle - hope dd is better.

Somebody please post something otherwise I'll start posting in the bilingual thread and it will all end in tears (mine, mainly, of exasperation.)
