good news about Lola

am I the only one considering putting the heating on? dd has been kicking the covers and waking up cold during the night, I miss growbags, they are genius

OP posts:
rosmerta · 02/10/2008 16:37

Sfx, our heating is already on . Not regularly though, I pop it on in the evenings to warm up the bathroom & ds's bedroom.

sfxmum · 02/10/2008 16:50

dd has been using me as a hot water bottle last couple of nights 'mum I need a warm hug' why can't she just come to our bed?
I always end up falling asleep before she settles properly then wake up with dh crashing about in the morning

Our bathroom window has been wedged open since we moved in, I've just gone in & it's freezing in there. Managed to hammer it shut just now put will pop heating on to warm it up a bit for DS

Good news about Lola

bunyanvillas · 02/10/2008 19:31

Yep - it's cold!! Heating on here, plus a stock of red wine accumulating

Kew - that's great re: Lola - phew! Hopefully now the Kewcumber family can move on from the events of the last few weeks! Yes, Kew Gdns must have been wonderful today. Am getting withdrawal symptoms as we just cannot manage it as much as we used to. Might try for an 09am visit one day next week (or does it open at 0930?).

Mrs R - well done to your dd!

At this end, dd has me pretending to be a builder, too! I have many talents but that is not one of them, although I am reasonable at lego.

Must go, keep setting smoke alarm off. Yes, the culinary skills still need a little work.

slng · 02/10/2008 19:50

We have heating on thermostat but it's only recently been coming on. I always think it's freezing but nobody else seems to, including the thermostat.

DSs favourite shop is Waitrose. Will have to re-brainwash them to say Lidl ... We have two Lidls within 5 minutes' drive! But Waitrose is by the train station and we get to see the Bristol trains, the new Virgin trains, Heathrow express and connect, the slow Reading and Greenford trains, and if we are really really lucky, some goods trains. Lidl you just get to see the car park.

Ros - that's the JO programme. Don't think I'll watch more unless very bored.

How about Heroes last night then?

Kew - good news about cat!

ComeOVeneer · 02/10/2008 20:04

Hi all. Have popped in for a quick catch up. Hip and back playing me up no end. No heating on here yet, infact we are still sleeping with the window open.

No comments on musical tastes each to their own

Kew I am desperate for some good/natural photos of ds and dd, and loved your ones of d I've seen so count me in.

bunyanvillas · 02/10/2008 21:27

dd's fave shop is "marekses and spencers" - "I'm hungry, mummy" -

sfxmum · 02/10/2008 21:33

just so West London

dd has turned ever more girly she thinks a good present for just about anyone is 'flowers and fizzy things for the bath'

Lola is home!

Poor bugger has to be locked in the utility room for a week and fed medcine and not allowed to jump but for about an hour I shut her in the living room with me and she curled up behind my legs and purred. Hadn't realised how anxious I was and how nice it was to have her safely home - think I've been blocking it a bit.

She still has a lot of healing to do but fingers crossed she may be on teh mend now.

mellow2 · 03/10/2008 08:08

Morning everyone.

Kew - Glad Lola is home.

Bunyan - Weather has been rubbish for the past week. I'm keeping myself really busy so I don't start feeling down. I'm only 5 mins away by car. Maybe I could pop by in the mornings when you're free.

COV - Sorry to hear your hip and back aren't better. Are you seeing a specialist?

rosmerta · 03/10/2008 08:08

Kew, glad Lola's home!

Ds's favourite shop seems to be Tescos , guess I need to work on him a bit to be worthy of West London

mellow2 · 03/10/2008 08:08

Sfx - Mini sfx is just a proper little girl.

mellow2 · 03/10/2008 08:08

Sfx - Mini sfx is just a proper little girl.

bunyanvillas · 03/10/2008 08:37

Mellow - of course! That would be nice. Let's sort something out for next week.

bunyanvillas · 03/10/2008 08:37

Ros, it seems to me that the trendy supermarket of choice at the moment is Lidl! Move over Tesco!!

sfxmum · 03/10/2008 09:08

good morning all

slng I have particular affection for that waitrose in west ealing as it was within walking distance of our first flat together 12yrs ago.

this week has been very positive and am trying not to think of winter as that long dark expanse and just take it slowly.

cov hope you get yourself sorted that kind of pain can be debilitating

and glad Lola is home

tesco man should be here soon dd has to be warned not to blab too much, amazing what she thinks is ok to share with strangers

SushiMummy · 03/10/2008 09:47

Morning all! V cold, isn't it?

QC - glad Lola is home. Hope she makes a quick recovery.

DS didn't get a place at KC due to oversubscription (surprise, surprise!)- huge number of siblings, apparently. Shame it's such a good school but part of me is a bit relieved. It's just too much to think about extra childcare and financing, etc at the moment.

Kewcumber · 03/10/2008 10:13

sometimes having the decision taken away from you is the easiest option isn't it!

SJ99 · 03/10/2008 10:58

DS fave shop used to be Tesco but now we get stuff online he points to something and says 'mummy bought it from the campoota'

Sushi - Is KC the nursery school? Pity you didn't get in but glad you are not totally gutted about it.

Slng - I enjoyed Heroes, did you watch it?

COV - hope you get your hip sorted soon

LOL at miniSfx, v. girly indeed!

xoxo · 03/10/2008 11:12

OK, so I may be a tad ashamed about Celine Dion, but in my defence it was a long time ago. But I am not ashamed of Kenny Rogers. The man is a musical genius. Surpassed only by the talented Dolly.

Bet you all sing along to Islands in the stream...

Maybe it's me but I can't hear the mane Lola without launching into song..... sorry Kew, glad she's home

sfxmum · 03/10/2008 11:18

aaaaargh now I have two songs stuck in my head

OP posts:
xoxo · 03/10/2008 12:15

my work here is done

spread the word, brothers and sister... Kenny is BACK

rosmerta · 03/10/2008 13:15

Would it be shameful or boasting to admit I don't know either of those songs?!

Bunyan/Mellow, do you mind if I tag along to your meet up next week? I'm trying to keep Patrick busy in the mornings so he's happier staying at home in the afternoons when I'm ready to sit down!

sfxmum · 03/10/2008 14:09

Ros no great loss but it will put you at a disadvantage on a drunken karaoke competition with some 50yr olds

do you know the classic films 'Ferris Bueller day off' 'Heathers' 'Pump up the volume' and 'Pretty in pink'?
and for those of European disposition 'La Boum'

it is not your fault you were born too late to enjoy them in their full teen glory but there is still time
