Hello

OP posts:
slng · 27/08/2008 14:32

Ah but Kew, once they start asking why you can ask why too. It's fun. You can start telling them implausible reasons for things.

Is it just me then?

sfxmum · 27/08/2008 14:36

my child just makes a point of disagreeing with me ever more articulately it is vexing and for the smallest details

'well mummy in fact....random fact of the day'

slng · 27/08/2008 14:41

sfx - happens here too. Usually we have "Oh but we can also do ."

slng · 27/08/2008 14:45

Or we get:

DS1: Let's do XXX because of YYY.
Me: OK then. Let's do XXX.
DS1 (aggrieved): Why?
Me: BECAUSE YYY LIKE YOU SAID.
DS1 (vaguely abashed): Oh.

I would love to have any wellies or boots going spare! 4.5 is perfect for DD Paddle!!!
SO, a big yes to both of you SFX & Paddle

Had a strange day here today. Feeling so sleepy all the time. Horrible feeling, all my motivation is gone. DD having a nap at last, from waking up too early and being a shouty grump all morning.

Ros, what is lollipop or kidzone? Hampton wick station is only a 2 minute walk from my place... just noticed you mentioned it earlier in the thread!

So, we are going to wakehurst place tomorrow with my mum as the weather forecast is pretending that it will be warm and sunny... mum had NT membership so we can both go free.... Going to take a picnic.

Must do an online shop now, and ask for an early delivery!

On subject of shopping. I've decided to get organized and plan our food for the week again. I seem to get stuck on meal ideas that are not all the same! Any inspiration greatly appreciated. Also, am trying to greatly reduce the bill, its such a nightmare, money far too tight now. I hate not having my own money!

Hope you are all well... so please that nursery went well SFX, meant to send text earlier but got snowed under with washing nappies and tidying up after DD, who made a horrible mess whilst I was busy with washing

Kewcumber · 27/08/2008 14:53

don;t bother susie - just stick with the "same meals a lot" approach - far easier and works a treat for me.

PaddlePig · 27/08/2008 14:54

no slng, i do that all the time. dd finds it very amusing.

kew, yeh yeh! he's on holiday this week tho.

DM tells me dd is having a lovely time but did reveal something yesterday evening that made me quite [cross]

they ran into a neighbour who has recently had surgery and it has left a very visible wound on her neck (ear to ear apparently) which dd asked about. neighbour responded "a very naughty man cut me"

immediately told DM not to tell dd it was a Dr but too late, she already had.

and and about the next time I have to take her to the dr!

Kewcumber · 27/08/2008 14:57

DS was an angel at the dentist yesterday - wouldn't sit in the chair but quite happily stood in front of the dentist and let him put a mirror in his mouth and check his teeth. We have been doing lots of pretend dentists play, at least I can stop that for a while! Have to do the same with doctors Paddle so I can understand you being cross about that comment.

PaddlePig · 27/08/2008 14:59

i am no use at meal planning coz by the time i've considered it, envisaged it, shopped for it etc etc I don't fancy it any more LOL!

hence I try to keep a freezer full of flexible options (mince & chicken thighs feature a lot ) and a well stocked store cupboard.

i occasionally have forays into new territory then do those dishes ad nauseum LOL.

Kewcumber · 27/08/2008 15:00

I keep aldi tomato pasta sauce in the cupboard - I'm surprised I don't look like pasta sauce tbh.

PaddlePig · 27/08/2008 15:01

dd loves going to the Dr. Will see what happens next time tho.

Must organise a dentist for us both, and a Dr actually.

Realise I have been standing still a bit with the flat as expecting to move.

Am a bit enthused by prospect of new kitchen tho.

Still torn as to whether to stay or go......

sfxmum · 27/08/2008 15:04

paddle strange woman

sfxmum · 27/08/2008 15:08

susie lollipop

kidzone

rosmerta · 27/08/2008 16:18

I am loving my plumber!

Sj, I'll be able to come over tomorrow, dh has graciously agreed to get the train to work for once! Mellow, thanks for the offer of a lift, our car seat isn't that easy to transfer unfortunately.

susie, Lollipop & Kidzone are a couple of play places a few of us go to! But think they're still closed for another week or so.

rosmerta · 27/08/2008 16:19

oops, see sfx has already linked them for you!

mellow2 · 27/08/2008 16:52

Great ros. I'll see you at sj's then. I'll bring my baba sling with me.

slng · 27/08/2008 17:27

What's meal planning?

We've been quite spoilt, living minutes away from a supermarket all these 12 years! And I love supermarket shopping. Even with the children it's mostly quite fun. So we only ever buy things about 3 days in advance, though I've started to stock the freezer with plausible things.

Must feed the kids now - giant courgette pancake cheese sandwich, if you can picture that ...

PaddlePig · 27/08/2008 17:32

slng, you need to teach me all the stuff that you cook!

sfxmum · 27/08/2008 17:32

ros it took me a while to realise you were talking about the leaks and not some figurative thingy I spent some time trying to decipher

btw Book was great to be followed by Buffy graphic novel and cyberpunk type novel
that should ensure variety
oh yes and course text books

sfxmum · 27/08/2008 17:34

slng courgette cheese pancake sounds great we are having bog standard roasted vegetables and couscous, including courgettes

slng · 27/08/2008 17:58

Paddle - I make things up as I go along, and I nick ideas from restaurants. This one is from the nice creperie on Northfields Avenue. They do a delicious 3-cheese pancake (and nutella pancake!!!) My version uses up one courgette! It's the only way the kids would eat courgettes. That's the kids' dinner done. We are having fish fingers in the leftover curry sauce from last night ...

slng · 27/08/2008 18:00

sfx - buffy graphic novels?? I'm reading the Artemis Fowl books. Very entertaining.

PaddlePig · 27/08/2008 18:37

erm, I'll pass on the fish fingers in curry sauce!

I like Artemis Fowl books too. Think I've only read one tho.

SJ99 · 27/08/2008 18:54

Hello all

Sfx - glad the session went really well I'm probably around Fri am and was going to text you anyway. I'm meant to be collecting some freecycle stuff from Kew on Fri am but woman annoyingly still hasn't responded so far. Would could do something regardless though, what do you fancy?

Ros/Mellow - great news! Should be easy to find but call if any probs, you can park at mine or loads of spaces in street. Thanks for bringing sling to try on

Slng/Susie - Meal planning, surprisingly similar to Sfx approach. I made some homemade lamb burgers tonight but DS not so interested, will freeze rest of batch. When can't be bothered to cook, will defrost something I made earlier or make a sandwich/beans on toast type meal. Curry sauce and fish fingers sounds good!

SBS - thanks for tip, that was something I did consider. Will start thread when I've had chance to digest/think a bit more about my options
