New thread for August.

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 20/08/2008 20:12

hi sfx, sparkly clean and probably going to land us a £400 bill
main culprit was dd stuffing a whole packet of wipes down loo, i think

oohh, what did you say to him? i love it when they get that look -= a mixture of earnestly trying to understand but not "getting" it at all.

dh still doing all childcare duties because I'M NEVER GOING TO SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL..
sorry, feel better for a shout...

well i am. actually, have finished one thing and the other one has to be sent in tomorrow morning. just at that (back to drains) bogged down feeling.

glad you're feeling better today, sfx.

slng · 20/08/2008 20:14

sfx - I use this for yogurt.

What did you say what did you say?

stepfordwife · 20/08/2008 20:17

bunyan, i heart chickpeas and lentils, too

i like my food like my men...with a pulse

oh dear....
how's the little fella's teething going?

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 20:26

bunyan, you've reminded me, I've got a lovely recipe somewhere for a chickpea curry. Must dig that out! About tomorrow, happy either way. Is that the right address on the contact list? If so, I think its only 1 bus for me so easy enough for me to come to you.

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 20:34

Steppie, glad your drains are now clear, this is why I don't let ds near any wipes!

Ds had a near miss in the park today, him & his friend were climbing up the slide, ds slipped & fell over the edge . Fortunately, his friend's dad was there, he just caught a leg otherwise ds would have landed clear on his head. Ds was ok, just a bit shaken up, as you would be!

stepfordwife · 20/08/2008 20:37

yes, ros, they are now banned from the bathroom!
glad ds ok

bunyanvillas · 20/08/2008 20:44

Well, Steppie - you and me both on the pulse front. Strange though that it was Bill Turnbull featuring in my pregnant fantasies, how strange the power of the mind eh? DS's teething is ongoing and will probably continue for the next 2 years, I have concluded. Has anyone on here tried one of those hippychick hip seat thingies? Am wondering, wondering about getting one as the wee man is just a leetle bit clingy. What's the story with drains and wipes - does not sound too good. Ros - yes re: address and yes, of course, come to me! don't have too many boys toys but do have 2 x buses (not full size just to clarify) and a MODEST train set. However, I am being sexist here I realise

sfxmum · 20/08/2008 20:53

ros the poor boy glad he is ok

steppie dh makes jokes like that you would get along great
and btw do you like 'who do you think you are'
(see previous post)
imagine you might appreciate it

bunyan the thought of it? did it make your morning sickness worst? aversion therapy?
btw no competitive baking here fa far lazy and disorganised for that

slng thanks

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 21:03

just so lucky that the dad was there! But a rice cake made it all better!

Bunyan, how about if we get to you 10-10.30am, will that be ok? Give me a ring if you need to cancel, otherwise we'll just turn up on your doorstep .

sfxmum · 20/08/2008 21:07

ros dd still talks about the time she fell in the playground and split her lip, and of the lady who gave her chocolate buttons to make her feel better

dh remembers it as the day his heart sort of stopped

bunyanvillas · 20/08/2008 21:08

Ros, gosh how horrid re: park drama, what a heart-stopping moment for you. Glad ds is ok. Off to bed, completely and utterly shattered, have been doing wayyy too much this week. OK SFX, baking not competitive, however, am feeling inspired to knock out something pretty soon - will report back in due course! Fancy making a really nice shortbread . Perhaps we should start hosting weekly coffee mornings to (a) entertain kids and (b) showcase our offerings, what does everyone think? In emergencies, Mr Kipling cakes could be permitted.

bunyanvillas · 20/08/2008 21:09

Oh yes, Ros that's fine

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 21:15

ok, see you tomorrow!

sfx, funny what they remember. Ds still remembers when he banged his face in church! I get reminded of it everytime we walk past it which is at least twice a week

sfxmum · 20/08/2008 22:24

coffee mornings yes please very civilised that is
book beckons night night

forecast heavy showers guess will not go to open air pool

Watcha ladies

Had a very unsatisfactory meeting with occupational health. Looks like I am going to have to take the Ill health retirement. Don't feel I have any other choice. basically she said that she has recommended that I be re-deployed and that further training would be necessary for me to work in a less hands on clinical role ( something like a clinical nurse specialist role)
Under the Disability discrimination Act 1995, they are obliged to offer and support me in further training so long as it is 'reasonable' this is the bit which is open to interpretation... The witches of eastwick seem to be interpreting it in a way that I think is unfair and not satisfactory to me. Ho hum...

HOpe you have all had reasonable days today. I do wish the weather would decide what its doing! Don't know what to wear, or what to put Isobel in either.

had long chat with DH this evening, and he's aiming to be home at the w/e, but I really will believe it when I see it. Frustrating is not the word! more than anything, we need to sit down and look at our my finances. Its all a bit shitty really.

Hope the weather is good tomorrow, for swimming SFX

Susie - sorry to hear about your problems with work.

Bunyan and ros - do you mind if I join you this morning?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 21/08/2008 08:27

good morning all

susie as it happens it is easy for me to get to Hampton pool but the weather is not promising despite the current sunshine so I propose Richmond or if too miserable just maybe my place? along with anyone else who wants to join?

tomorrows seems to be ok weatherwise so probably garden based activities, can't wait for the weekend

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 08:58

Susie, sorry to hear of your woes, why does everything seem to happen at once in life? Hope you've had a good night's sleep, that always helps a little bit. Ros is popping over to mine this morning so if anyone wants to join us, then you're welcome! We are also maybe around this afternoon for something low key if anyone else is. Has been a busy ole' week but at least has given me an excuse for not cleaning the house or doing any ironing whatsoever.

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 09:02

ironing? one of those things that is only ok to do without children around but then again if no children we would be able to afford outsourcing it

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 09:11

SFX you slattern Actually I do outsource my ironing. To DH.

stepfordwife · 21/08/2008 09:13

what's ironing?

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 09:15

DH does his own ironing thankfully and I try and do as little as possible, ironed sheets are very nice but life is too short

dd seems to have settled in her bed, she slept through for the first time since the move
wish I could do that

sfxmum · 21/08/2008 09:16

steppie adrift in the world of domesticity

bunyanvillas · 21/08/2008 09:17

Talking of sleep. I got woken from a deep, restful sleep the other night by a dream about Margaret & Dennis Thatcher. Help!!!! What is happening to my mind, it appears to be unravelling.
