OP posts:

Sfx

SJ99 · 02/04/2008 16:42

could you use the extra hr in the morning for your essay instead while DD sleeps?

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 16:46

not a morning person, don't mind doing structured stuff like running or even when at work deal with admin stuff but anything creative, concentrate, just not happening, even if tired evening is better for me.

having said that I might have too. will spend some time tonight filling it up then hope to finish tomorrow morning but am not optimistic.

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 17:03

on another subject, I am really amused by FIL complaints about the upcoming wedding, he was telling dh 'but why can't they do something simple like you two?' I hope he does not share this point of view with the bride. but I think dh learnt subtlety from him so I guess not much chance of that

slng · 02/04/2008 18:05

Hello!

sfx - we had registry office with witnesses then pub in evening... Big weddings not for us, though have been to nice ones ...

Kingston tomorrow afternoon and maybe Kew Gardens/Bushy Park/Hyde Park on Friday (nursery off). I like being able to do things like this (I have a fab job but not going to get promoted forever I think), which will come to an end soon - got school admissions notification today. Need to drown sorrows.

Kids going demented throwing balloons about!

SJ99 · 02/04/2008 19:19

Enjoy your days out Slng, hope weather will be good for park.

We're off to DH's cousin's wedding next Friday up in Leeds (dreading car journey). At this rate I think I'll be wearing a winter suit so I'm wrapped up rather a sumemr dress, especially if snow is predicted???! Strange, we went BIL's wedding exactly 2yrs ago and it was glorious sunshine. Much better to be a guest than be close to the organisers, can be unecessarily stressful

SJ99 · 02/04/2008 19:38

I take it school admission was not what you wanted?

slng · 02/04/2008 19:47

I just read the ofsted report of our school and it's outstanding and good throughout. Why am I still depressed!!??

SJ99 · 02/04/2008 19:49

Beats me, think you should have some wine

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 19:57

slng might do Kew tomorrow or Friday depends on a few things.
about the school is it just the start of extra commitments?

SJ crazy weather, hope you enjoy yourself. this things is not until July but FIL is rather put out by the whole affair 'must get the suit I was told to wear' 'am supposed to be hosting a dinner''why so much fuss' mutter mutter mutter.
am glad am away from al that besides it is being planned with the 'assistance' of the mother of the bride.

slng · 02/04/2008 20:01

I would SJ but the kitchen is full of washing up and I don't want to see it and the glug is over there ... I know! I'll wash up, cook dinner, listen to Radio 4 as long as that Melanie Philips is not on AND have a drink at the same time... Multitasking here I come.

slng · 02/04/2008 20:02

sfx - it's the thought that someone else is going to presume to tell me how to educate my child. I think I have an attitude problem. Oh well, nothing a nice glass of red stuff won't cure. (See it's driving me to drink already!)

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 20:08

slng occasionally I flirt with the idea of home ed but I don't think am cut out for it, besides you still do have more influence over your kids anyway.
Is Melanie Phillips on the moral maze or some such? she does annoy me beyond reason.
can't stand that show either

rosmerta · 02/04/2008 20:36

evening all,

slng, are you upset because your ds got in a good school? Wierdo . Anyway, your day tomorrow sounds nice, have a good time.

Sj, still up for tomorrow afternoon? Am trying a new playgroup in the morning but we should hopefully be with you by about 3.30pm if that's ok?

Sfx, good luck with the essays, its hard to be motivated sometimes.

rosmerta · 02/04/2008 20:36

oh, I forgot to mention, I'm pregnant

Paddlechick666 · 02/04/2008 20:41

whoo hooo! congrats Ros! I did have a sneaky suspicion when FB said you were over the moon and that was the first thing that popped into my mind!

ps: comis-grats on the school news slng. it's a tough job but i think you need to steel yourself to it and do what needs to be done to get to the glug!

slng · 02/04/2008 20:49

It is done! Glug, washed-up, dinner-to-be-dished-up. Efficient-when-put-mind-to-it, eh? (Practise school report style.) Radio 4 was Mariella Fostrup with "bringing up britain" and had discussions about Mumsnet. Is there no getting away!?

Ros - congrats! Good news!

sfx - I think "home-ed with interruption for school" ... I do have an attitude problem ... Melanie Philips bad, glug good.

ComeOVeneer · 02/04/2008 21:01

Fab news Ros

Had a lousy nights sleep (or rather lack of, fell asleep just after midnight and woke up 3.30am and failes to get back to sleep.

Then had to spend a great portion of today typing letters, forms, plans, design posters for the school May fair, sort agenda for Friday's PTA meeting.

Just made some delicious veg tempura and king prawn green thai curry with jasmine rice followed by my first attempt at green tea ice cream. Dh cleaned up the kitchen and got breakfast supplies sorted for tomorrow and ds's packed lunch for nursery, whilst I had a soak in the bath. He is now working in the office and I am in bed with laptop, TV and Horlicks (oh I know how to live)

Anyone interested, I figured out how toadd photos to my profile.

mellow2 · 02/04/2008 21:25

Great news Ros.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 02/04/2008 21:32

great news Ros congratulations is it still early?

slng i hear that advertised so steered clear, dd finally asleep so will just clean the kitchen before doing some essay work - funny how I feel like cleaning when a deadline pops up

COV green tea ice sounds interesting thought it would be more like granita

rosmerta · 02/04/2008 21:38

thanks everyone, it is still early (due Dec 2) but got fed up of having to switch names on the antenatal thread!

good luck with the essay sfx, I'm trying to write a presentation atm!

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 22:02

oh yes the pesky ante natal thread
as you can tell I am hard at work steppie style

paddle speaking of FB what is the deal with Chiltern? feel free to ignore just being nosy

SJ99 · 02/04/2008 22:37

Wow, congratulations Ros, fantastic news Yes, still on for tom afternoon, you & bump can have your congratulatory hug then!

I just watched The Apprentice for the 1st time ever, it was great, I'm hooked!

rosmerta · 02/04/2008 22:43

Don't tell me who gets fired, haven't watched it yet!

sfxmum · 02/04/2008 22:45

am I the only one who does not like the apprentice? it makes me cringe, most reality TV does but Alan Sugar is vile imo
