New thread for new month!

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 12:30

oh no COV - I remember when dd2's guinea pig died, I was more upset than her. She'll probably be fine and will forget about it pretty soon.

Well, success dh has managed to cut the grass, with the aid of our lovely neighbour - she's the same one who cleaned the house when we had ds christening, the same one who washing/dried/ironed all my clothes when washing line broke. Am reconsidering my move plans - what would we do without her?

paddle - glad the move plans are going ahead - as dh said to me, its important that you consider your beautiful dd's future - staying where you are is just not feasible for her longterm is it?

rosmerta · 25/04/2008 13:13

paddle, I've got the pullout you can have, otherwise everythings listed on the website. We got our full set today, so sorted it all out last night, put it in an envelope & dh forgot to take it to work! Re moving, will be to see you go but its obviously the best choice for you and dd.

Need to find the link for the May night out but I can't eat sushi atm.

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 13:19

lordy foxie, now i'm getting stressed about the holiday deal! will try to get today and tomorrow's but not sure when the deadline is and will be O/S till next weekend

lol @ a wife who drinks gin and watches daytime TV. if i get a better paid job later this year or next I might seriously consider and au-pair or something. trouble is i wouldn't have any room for a live in.

answer to dh's not cutting grass is live in a flat. this is a good pro, unfortunately a bad con might be your neighbourhood con returning

thanks for all the good wishes on the move front and to MrRecycle for his observation. i think it is for the best and i will still lurk/post and come to visit. i am really trying to stretch to a 3 bed but it may not happen.

just wish i had considered this option last year

am half packed for the trip. proving tricky as it's business therefore suits but they're taking us up to a ski resort one day so that's casual then there's a dinner being hosted so that's evening smart casual.

arg!

lol

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 13:22

ps thanks for well wishes on tonsilitis too. honestly i've never had it this badly before. i go thru phases of awful then not too bad then awful again.

by 9pm tonight i'll have 2 days ABs under my belt so hopefully all will improve. i finish the course on Weds so will be free and clear to glug glug my way home on friday!

ros will check out the website thanks!

rosmerta · 25/04/2008 13:25

I think the deadline is 15 May (don't quote me) but it sounds like you need to send it off asap to be in with a chance of getting anything

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 13:28

yesterday dd got talking to a lady at M&S check out, she da teacher written all over her and sang Ba Ba Pink Sheep as something she can look forward to learning when she goes to school

dd currently perfecting the student life still in night cloths eating cheese on toast and with feet up complaining she is still poorly.
and apparently only wants to go out with dh

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 13:29

of course in English that last post would have made sense

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 13:40

LOL sfx. Well goldfish is dead , and has been disposed of in butter tub in outside bin . Now do I pop out this afternoon and buy a new one and not tell dd, or do I tell dd (in the hope that she may give up on having any more as the damn things keep dying (that is the 3rd on this year!)?

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 14:04

no pets and if that fails easily replaceable ones is my rule, sure to fail at some point but you have got to have rules

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 14:07

Goldfish are easily replaceable but I am fed up of the tears as each one dies.

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 14:19

would she notice if you replace it before she sees it? otherwise might be the time to stop this pet thing but I am heartless

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 14:22

She would notice if it wasn't 100% identical, she is very observant like that, plus I would have to take ds with me to get it, and he is currently a right blabber mouth. Plus I am lousy at lying . TBH I am hoping after the initial upset she will decide that they are a waste of time and we won't have to replace it. Trouble is she will probably now want a different pet. Both her and dh have been nagging me to get a dog. Just what I need, as guess who will end up walking/carring for it, and heaven knows what the cats would do if we brought a dog into the house, I don't think they have recovered from when we brought the children home as babies

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 14:23

reminds me of a funny story, my godson's gf died (goldfish that is!) and his mum was horified so dashed out to get another one which she thought was the same. When he got home from school, he instantly recognised it wasn't "Nemo" and was heartbroken that his mum had flushed it away so he couldn't say goodbye - he was 4 years old at the time.

rosmerta · 25/04/2008 14:28

I remember when we used to go to the fairs and my mum & dad would always roll their eyes when I wanted to do the 'hook a duck' stall because I would always win a goldfish. Needless to say it would only ever live for a week max & I'd be upset, but would have forgotten next time around!

Cov, I agree that the idea of having a dog sounds great but the practicalities of it are awful. My mum & dad have always had dogs and, aside from feeding/walking, it means taking them with you if you go see relatives, or putting them in kennels if you go away. Hope you manage to resist!

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 14:30

I would replace it personally.

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 14:30

precisely only things they can look after preferably imaginary ones plenty of time for pets when she gets boyfriends

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 14:35

Get her a Webkinz She can sign on and chat with my DD. They are all the rage in the states. You can pick one up in Chicago. My SIL bought them for DD and DS when we ewre there.

MrsRecycle · 25/04/2008 15:19

oh she can get a horse like dd1 has.

fitfox · 25/04/2008 15:24

Ros/Paddle - you get five choices of venue and five choices of date, in preferential order.

The sooner you send it, the more likely you are to get your firts preferences, so send ASAP, or you will get your last choices and there is even a chance you may get nowt.

Last time, the first day we could've sent is was the Saturday. We sent it on Monday (i.e. the next working day) and we got our 3rd choice. Just think of all those other people rushing to get theirs off in the post. Even when we had a priority booking number we only got our third choice.

As long as you choose carefully though it should be OK if you get it off by Monday I would havwe thought. Paddle I'll hang onto my spare tokens in case you need any. We also have as spare pull out list of venues and the form etc.

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 15:46

webkinz on ebay -- even a horse if you act fast.

Kewcumber · 25/04/2008 17:16

I'm exausted - DS woke at 3.30am and wouldn't go back to sleep. He had 20 min nap at 12.30 and crashed eventually at 3.30pm. In the meantime I've been trying to work from home... badly. Think tonight will be an early one for me.

sfxmum · 25/04/2008 17:59

sorry KC we will miss you tonight

stepfordwife · 25/04/2008 18:13
