New thread for new month!

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 18:32

Oh I wish I was joining you tonight, I really want a night out. Have a lovely evening and have a glass or two for me. Actually I may well have a glass myself (a slippery slope this solo drinking )

At least I have the tv to myself and can indulge in the foods I like. Last night I had panfried calves liver with caramelised onions in a masarla sauce with champ and wilked spinach, tonight it is monkfish and prawns with olives in a tomato and wine sauce with boiled new potatoes and veg gratin followed by chocolate cheesecake!

AtheneNoctua · 25/04/2008 18:43

Oh, monkfish sounds very good. Why do you type these things when I can come over and have some????

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 19:26

hope everyone has a great night.

i am totally exhausted, house is tip, dd still not in bed as i am too tired to move the routine along quickly.

am just making stupid mistake after stupid mistake.

freezer full of food but nothing i feel like eating. will prob end up with pizza even tho i don't really want that either.

day 3 sans glug glug, nothing wrong with solo drinking CoV i do it all the time!

bloody ABs

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 19:27

It was indeed lovely. LO's are tucked up in bed and I have poured myself a glass of wine, will have a soak in the bath then tv and laptop in bed me thinks! Have to get some sleep to deal with the weekend. £ birthday parties (of which I have to stay for 2 of them) and swimming lessons too! Plus dd has requested roast chicken with all the trimmings for supper on Sunday!

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 19:28

Oh paddle, shame I don't live closer I could have shipped over a meal. Have the AB's not kicked in yet?

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 20:02

ooh that would've been lovely.

think dm is doing roast chicken on sunday but i will be staying at heathrow that night so none for me

my throat is definately better so ABs must be doing something. i am just so terribly tired. dd waking up at 6am didn't help.

another good reason to have a late bedtime as it may just result in a slightly later start tomorrow - i wish!

bloody wish i could have a glass of vino too

ah well, it'll do me good to abstain for a day or two. get me in training for abstinence ridden Utah LOL.

roll on that flight home on Friday

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2008 20:35

Is Utah a dry state then?! Well I enjoyed my glass of wine, so much so I have poured a second (both were small ones in my defence) after a lovely soak in the bath, am now on laptop in bed deciding what sh*t tv to watch.

Paddlechick666 · 25/04/2008 21:15

yeah pretty much. you can get light beer apparently. you can join a club where you can drink and there are state run liquor stores but apparently they are very very hard to find!

if it were a few years ago i might've considered buying some duty free but i wouldn't bother nowadays.

the hotel has a great spa/pool/gym so i've packed my bathers and will take advantage of that.

i'm having a guilty pleasure Home & Away catch up night tonight.

neighbours are doing their usual combo of loud music/voices and major furniture moving or housework or decorating. i can never be sure which. liberally sprinkled with a constant earthquake like door slamming.

oops, AB time!

mellow2 · 26/04/2008 06:17

Paddle,

Glad you're feeling better. Have a good trip.

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2008 07:11

thanks mellow, at this rate it will be a relief to be away apart from missing dd.

went to bed at 10:30 and endured an hour of some sort of James Blunt torture where asbo boy and his mates played the same track over and over. stopping and starting it after the first few seconds of piano intro.

finally dropped off some time after 11pm. woken again at midnight by louder music/talking so thumped on the floor.

tossed and turned for the rest of the night with too much on my mind to really sleep.

it's no bloody wonder i'm not well! they kicked off again at 6am altho not music.

i am beginning to hate it here, dread that any sale/purchase might take 6m like last time.

ComeOVeneer · 26/04/2008 08:18

Oh paddle, it is a horrid situation to be in . We had awful neighbours at our last house (I'm sure I have told you the story of the stolen trees and the bricks etc chucked over the fence, not to mention calling the fire brigade about setting fire to foam sofa cshions (and the trees at the bottom of the garden)!

stepfordwife · 26/04/2008 09:26

hi everyone
how we all diddling?
oh paddle, troublesome neighbours are just so stressful, aren't they? feel so and for you that you can't relax in your own home.
the trip away will at least be a break away from the treadmill.

enjoy the sunshine everyone.

sfxmum · 26/04/2008 10:20

good morning all

paddle sorry about those dreadful neighbours, what horrible people
hope you feel better soon

hope everyone ok

fitfox · 26/04/2008 13:45

[hugs] paddle

Ros - did you get your Sun vouchers off in the post this morning? I got up early to complete my form and have put, in preference order:

Cornwall - most fabby parc in Cornwall
Picardy - fabby parc we went to before
Cornwall - 2nd most fabby parc in Cornwall
IoW - fabby parc, looks amazing
Cornwal - 3rd most fabby parc in Cornwall

I'll be happy with any of those!!!!

I had to sew the vouchers on as I couldn't find either my stapler or any sellotape!!

Paddle are you in a fit state to send yours before you fly off? It will give you something to look forward to (am tempted to say "Huns" but shall resist)

We got our neighbour evicted once or noise nuisance. He was also illegally subletting so it wasn't too hard.

At least you'll have some relaxation time and some quiet nights in the US

ComeOVeneer · 26/04/2008 18:35

If any more of you are interested I've started a May night out thread here.

Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2008 21:55

evening all

well preparations for tomorrow continue here. i am getting a whole heap of stuff done! even put my tesco order in for deliver next Saturday.

parents are being fabulous. coming down tomorrow early-ish to take dd out whilst i finish packing then will stay for half the week so dd can stay at CM and maintain some routine.

then they will bring her home mid arvo of the day i get back. thus i may get a bit of a sleep first thing then get shopping delivered.

then they are having her again on the BH so I can view a few more properties.

I am really feeling so sad about leaving her tomorrow. Normally when GPs have her it's a lovely break and relief for me to feel a bit "off duty" but the distance on this occasion is freaking me out.

was nearly in tears at bath/bedtime thinking "i won't bath you, read you a story or tuck you with a goodnight kiss for a whole week"

ps: lubberly to see a few peeps earlier. glad you like dd's dress. there's a pic on FB

fitfox · 26/04/2008 22:46

It was lovely to see you too Paddle (and Tabby). Don't be , the week will fly by and DD will have fun with GPs

sfxmum · 27/04/2008 09:36

good morning all

Paddle like foxie says it will fly by and the little pink princess will be fine - take care

sorry about the weather obsession but rain forecast for the entire week is just plain disappointing

stepfordwife · 27/04/2008 09:58

good morning, all
yeah, where's the sun gone, eh?
can't complain - blessed with a glorious day for a little birthday party had for dd yesterday.
was fun, although was nursing a slight hangover from friday night.

paddle, it's just the thought of being so far away, isn't it? but dd will have a lovely week with GPs and be absolutely fine - they've got no real concept of time so she won't realise you're away for a week.

and you'll be fine, too. obviously you'll miss her like mad, but when you'll be 'out of context" in utah and in the work zone so it'll fly by. and just think of how much you'll enjoy those hugs and kisses when you get back.

feel like having a lazy day, but got to go out and buy two birthday pressies for a joint party ds1 and ds2 going to today (they don't call me last-minute steppie for nothing you know!) would have delegated to dh but he's at a rugby tournament with little fellas.

enjoy your day, everyone
toodlepip

ComeOVeneer · 27/04/2008 10:14

Morning all. Well ds decided not to go to sleep until almost 11pm last night, so is now a very cranky little boy. Can't be motivated to do anything today. DD has another birthday party to attend.

SJ99 · 27/04/2008 10:35

Hello all

Paddle - wishing you a good trip. Don't be , DD is in good hands. Hope you get to recharge your batteries a little while you're away.

Foxie - when you do you find out about your holiday? I think we're binning holidays plans this year with house move going ahead. Festival will be our only trip away now - good to hear about Foals & BSP on line up Sfx

Happy belated B'day for mini-Steppie

Rain forecast is indeed v. disappointing

Off to Kingston later for some retail therapy

Good to see some of you on Fri night, nice to meet Lausy & Gmama, best go and check out May night out thread...

Paddlechick666 · 27/04/2008 10:36

morning all

thanks everyone, i know she'll be right as rain and have a lovely time. it's true i can't wait to see her face when i get back, she's always so overjoyed to see me!

i do have a small corner looking forward to being away from here for a few days. knowing my luck my hotel neighbours will be on some dirty shag-a-lot break tho lol

last night started badly with major music then quiet then an almighty shouting match with what i presume is the mother kicking off bigtime. silence after that, maybe she opened a can of whup-ass on asbo boy!

dd been up since 6am and it now feels like tea time!

am doing housework to get the place in order before GPs arrive. S-dad is a bit pathalogical about clean/tidy and I know DM would do it this arvo before he gets here so hopefully they'll appreciate me doing it for them.

i am really so grateful, they'll be exhausted by the time i get back as it is LOL.

right PaddleMop back to it!

stepfordwife · 27/04/2008 10:51

thanks, SJ
we didn't have a proper chat on friday, did we?
well next time..that's a threat promise!

paddle, oh god, i hope not. nothing worse than a noisy shagging couple in the next hotel room, eh? you just lie there, thinking:'she's got to be faking it.."

take care and enjoy

SushiMummy · 27/04/2008 11:16

Oh dear.

DS seems to have come down with Chicken Pox (there were four cases in his nursery class). Dr couldn't confirm as it's an early stage, no temps, eating fine, full of beans, just a few blisterly spots on his upper body.

The problem is I can't possibly take the next week off as the top management coming to see me and have important meetings. Have asked a few people around but so far, no luck.

Does anyone know anyone or a good agency?

Oh dear.[panic emoticon]
