mellow2 · 27/03/2008 06:29

Sfx,
Anytime before 1pm. Dd naps about 1 to 2 pm.

slng · 27/03/2008 11:29

Hello mellow! You're up early! Congrats with theory test and good luck with driving test. I had to do them to convert my M'sian license. I think I passed the driving test by managing to brake in time so that person coming out of side road without looking didn't bash into the car and thus saving driving inspector from certain death... Anyway. How's the house-buying?

Paddlechick666 · 27/03/2008 11:35

updated my neighbours thread for anyone who's following.

if I have to move I've decided to investigate moving closer to the GPs.

Not sure why I didn't consider this last year. Would be very sad to leave the area and you lot etc but it looks like I could afford a house there so.......

Read some shocking stuff in Metro this morning about teen murders and a guy in the States who put his 2m old in a microwave.

what sort of society are we living in FFS!

slng · 27/03/2008 12:09

Paddle - it's a shame about the neighbours ... I don't know how one can be certain about neighbourhoods apart from maybe hanging around there day and night to check it out in which case you might be reported as the nutter if it's a respectable neighbourhood and then all the respectable persons will move out and riffraffs move in ... Our street is quite nice, but the next street down has vandalised cars and a crack den (now no longer open for business) and the other direction has a pub that had to be shut because it was so dodgy. But we certainly didn't know that before we moved.

Paddlechick666 · 27/03/2008 12:15

slng, yes it is a real lottery isn't it? even if I had done more research and staked the flat out for a few days/nights this wouldn't have come to light as the lad was in prison.

I know the area where the GPs live and there is even a property on a street I bought my 2nd ever house.

Still wouldn't know what the neighbours are like but I am somewhat mollified by the idea of having a bit more emergency cover/help etc from DM and DSD.

It was to be my 5yr plan decision, ie: in 5yrs move overseas or move closer to GPs.

commute to office would actually be the same as it is now more expensive tho.

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2008 12:39

oh pc sorry to hear about the neighbours, what area do the GPs live in? We're relocating next year (Year 5 of our 5 Year Plan as well) and are currently trying to decide on areas.

sfx - yes she was your compatriate. Its got worse, today she decided to faint again on me. So have had to deal with 3 LOs, crashed car, school, washing, cooking, cleaning, before I left for work at 9am. Oh and I have whiplash - doc has given me some meds for it. Stress moi? Never!!

COV, can I climb into your suitcase and join you? Am so envious. I remember when i used to work away, my dh would join me and he used to have the days free. Somehow shopping never came into it though, in his case.

Good news is other driver has admitted responsibility and his Insurance Co have been amazing, am even getting a new Car Seat out of it (actually I could get 3!). Plus they will reimburse me for lost wages. Car gets fixed on Monday and I get a hire car of same type (7 seats).

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2008 12:43

Meant to say - is anyone around tomorrow night? Dh is meeting a couple of dfs in Richmond and as I was going to give him a lift there, I wondered if anyone fancied meeting up? I know it's short notice but you might fancy a night away from LOs.

Paddlechick666 · 27/03/2008 13:12

MrsR, GPs are north oxfordshire.

good news re: car and getting that sorted swiftly. go for it with the car seats I say!

the AP sounds a complete nightmare, so sorry you're having to deal with it.

wish i could tomorrow eve but no childcare so....

this would also be a bonus if moved closer to GPs.

actually am quite liking the idea!

slng · 27/03/2008 14:00

MrsR - like the idea of impromptu nightout. What are your plans? Are you staying in Richmond? Must see if DH will be back early-ish...

sfxmum · 27/03/2008 14:22

hello all been out enjoying the sun and bothering mellow
at least did dome exercise walking all the way to hers and back then to KG

mellow dd want to see yours again soon so lets sort it out.

mrsR is it real fainting or the sort of laying on the ground motionless but keeping eyes firmly shut to demonstrate fragility so please don't tell me off? sorry but my idea of some compatriots is very poor indeed, you can call it prejudice.

paddle saw the update, sounds like an option but am sorry it is turning out to be so stressful, I have to say while I lived nearby always found it fine just goes to show it just takes one person to ruin it for all.

we have a local ASBO boy who gets regular visits from the police., usually between 3-4am.

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2008 14:30

sfx - wish I could have joined you. But I finish work in July so will be able to then.

definitely an oscar winning performance - I would never tell her off - not when she calls me a Stupid Witch - I just put a spell on her . Glad you agree with my removal of your compatriots from my new AP search

when we moved to this street, we knocked on a few doors and asked them what it was like to live here. Everyone gushed and they haven't been proved wrong. Would do the same again.

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2008 14:31

slng - definitely staying in Richmond if its central for us all. But as I'm driving I could always head your way. Actually I was at Brentford Dock last Friday, anyone fancy a meal there - mind you it was Prezzo so that might put you off. Food ok, service dodgy.

mellow2 · 27/03/2008 14:33

sfx,
It was nice to see your dd and you. I'm glad your DD like mine as DD as I'm sure DD will enjoy playing with her again.

slng,
We haven't had an offer yet. We have 1 or 2 viewings a week so it's going to be a while before we sell this place.

mellow2 · 27/03/2008 14:34

MrsR,

at the name calling.

sfxmum · 27/03/2008 14:44

mrsR there are particular reasons why I would be careful about employing some of them, there are plenty of nice hard working people there but quite a few who think they are here for a holiday. that is awfully rude I expect she feels superior for some reason

I don't think I can make it out tomorrow as I have quite a busy weekend ahead and and dh is likely to be late

mellow dd quite keen

I am looking at CPC for her party in June mostly because our flat is too small so lets hope there are enough kids to pop along I know she would love it probably saturday 31st may or sunday 1st June not sure if they are open then, must check new details

SJ99 · 27/03/2008 15:20

Paddle, so sorry to hear that neighbours are causing more grief, I can imagine you are getting increasingly concerned & stressed about it all. Moving near GP's is a good plan (one that is on our agenda if we can't find a house we like/can afford round here). It's horrible though as you've only just moved there, hugs to you

Sfx - brain not switched on, what ITS?

Mrs R - Hooray for insurance co! May be able to come out tom but it will be last minute decision if I do as not sure what time DH will be back from Bristol tom evening. Just eep me informed of your plans and I'll call you if I can make it

Lovely sunshine, spontaneously decided to go to Kidzone this morning which was big success with DS, would go there again although it was well hidden

rosmerta · 27/03/2008 15:30

hi all, am shattered today, ds decided it would be fun to start the day at 5am ! But fortunately he's still asleep (2.5hrs).

Mrs R - sorry to hear about car crash, glad you're all ok though, apart from whiplash. Bet you can't wait for AP to leave, at her antics! I won't be able to make tomorrow unfortunately as my parents are coming down for the weekend.

Paddle - sorry about your neighbours, sounds so stressful. I definitely wouldn't worry any more about keeping dd quiet!

Sfx - I think CPC will still do parties in the afternoon on weekends so you should be ok.

We also have our 5yr plan of moving a bit further out. Don't know how far we will go, don't think we will go back up north though, we will probably stay somewhere within the M25 (so not too many places to pick from ).

rosmerta · 27/03/2008 15:32

Btw, has anyone ever had sofas reupholstered? If so, wondering who you used/rough prices etc?

sfxmum · 27/03/2008 15:34

bad grammar SJ I meant Battlestar gallactica is coming back for 4th and last season very very good imo

ros hope your parents don't read MN

sfxmum · 27/03/2008 15:34

5am oh no

rosmerta · 27/03/2008 16:26

I'm looking forward to BSG as well, did you see that mini one they did a couple of months ago?

rosmerta · 27/03/2008 16:41

I know sfx, we brought him into bed with us for a little while but he never goes back to sleep. Oh well!

Oh, and if they do read MN, they don't know my username

SJ99 · 27/03/2008 16:46

I got the BSG ref but didn't know what ITS was?

5am is no fun. Hopefully it will get better with the clock change. No nap for DS today, he's been good though, started to flag just now so have put on TTE, what a winner

rosmerta · 27/03/2008 17:00

sj, I think sfx was correcting a grammatical error before any pedants jumped on her

sfxmum · 27/03/2008 17:57

thanks Ros do we have pedants here?

dd has taken over my laptop, how quickly did she learn to navigate the cbeebies site?

must go hurry dh he probably forgot I am busy tonight blinking typical, and his phone seems to be off
