How exciting to be starting thread

Yay, thanks Sfx, am already looking forward to banana bread, mmmm!

In Sweden they had Noise Police (everything is so formally governed over there) but what a great idea, they used to go and put a stop the noise polluters, no messing.

teething is awful and seemingly never ending.
SJ

does anyone want to show me Marble Hill?
maybe tomorrow?

no idea about half term sorry

SJ99 · 11/02/2008 15:55

Tell me about it, it's days like these I don't enjoy being a SAHM much!

Might be up for Marble Hill tom, can I let you know tom after seeing what mood grumpy is in?

Half term seems to be next week here as all playgroups are shutting. Planning on escaping to my parents in Wales for the week seeing as DH away anyway.

Hi all. Just popping in again briefly - hope eveyone is doing well.

I would be up for a meet up, especially Marble Hill ( I live in the next street so convenience is always a good motivator for me). Our half term is next week but it's an inset day on friday. Did anyone know about inset days before becoming a parent?

We were supposed to be going away for half term but ds is under the weather so have had to cancel plans. So, have left it too late to book into any of the exciting clubs or activities.Am racking my little brains to come up with activities

Paddlechick666 · 11/02/2008 16:18

dd's pre-school HT is the week after next.

Or at least I bloody hope it is and I haven't read the dates wrong!

racking my brains on what lovely menu to plan for V-Day for myself.

at the moment it's defrosted black-bean stiry-fry or de-frosted chicken curry.

or maybe just a fish finger sarnie!

mind you, I might have to eat out as the door may be blocked by cards from secret admirers so I might be able to get in!

Kewcumber · 11/02/2008 16:34

oooh I had a fishfinger sarnie yesterday.

I'm not worried about teh cards PC - its the roses that cause the problems...

Paddlechick666 · 11/02/2008 16:35

yes of course, and the mountain of chocolates.

slng · 11/02/2008 16:50

Thank you all for new year wishes!

COV - I love cooking too but unfortunately my presentation skills are very much lacking. Tends to be pile-on-plate-and-eat type ... My carving skill is even worse - you should have seen the duck yesterday!

Must go - Thomas film finished!

stepfordwife · 11/02/2008 17:00

hi everyone
how you all diddling?
apologie if ignore any earth-shattering announcemnts but haven't got time to read thread at mo..

bit (too damn) busy at mo as dh in mumbai for work and i've got a lot of work on , too...sigh..just think of the invoces..just think of the invoices..just think....

according to dh i'm tres 'tired and grumpy" hmmm, cue light bulb moment, maybe that's why he planned his trip to mumbai...

so sfx would LOVE to come to marble hill tomorrow, but no can do. but have a lovely time

foxcub is OK, btw, and recovering from his bug, poor little thing.

god, i hate valentine's day. and my idea of hell is going out for dinner on valentine's night. packed elbow-to-e;bow with other couples (trigger for a 'you never say romantic things to me like that" spat with dh) oh and you're charged double for the privilege...

however i have bought some little heart truffle cakes from marks & sparks to slip in ds1 and ds2's lunchboxes..
they'll be mortified because they've got hears on but ecstatic as they're not usually allowed cakes in their lunchboxes..

hope everyone enjoying the glorious sunshine
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 11/02/2008 17:02

oh yes, happy new year, sing..
hey, can't go wrong with the pile it high method of cooking/presentation, eh?

sfxmum · 11/02/2008 17:06

I think if I ever started with love declaration to dh he would think
a)she hit her head
b)oh god what is she not telling me?
c)is she on very powerful drugs?

SJ that's fine, am keeping things loose, fresh air helps the grumps I think or at least outside it can be easier to ignore

bunyanvillas · 11/02/2008 17:12

SFX, Xoxo, would love to join you at Marble Hill tomorrow but would have to be in the afternoon as dd has nursery in the morning. Would that suit? We go there a lot and it would be good to have some company! So, when is Valentine's Day

SJ99 · 11/02/2008 18:06

Afternoon perfect for me
Were you thinking of going to the park or the grounds of the house? There is a lovely cafe on the grounds but think it may only be open at wkends atm, bummer

OP posts:
SJ99 · 11/02/2008 18:09

PC - The first meal I made DH after we got married was fish finger butties. Very romantic indeed

OP posts:
bunyanvillas · 11/02/2008 18:12

Ohhhh ... I could just eat a fish finger butty now!! How about meeting in the park - and then we could go for a walk afterwards? dd is obsessed with it and calls it "margle hill"! What time? 3pm?

stepfordwife · 11/02/2008 18:14

..actually one of my fave meals is chip butties and champagne..

.that's made me want it to be glug-glug o'clock

stepfordwife · 11/02/2008 18:19

stop taunting me with your marble hill happy-talk

how's the building going, bunyan?

sfxmum · 11/02/2008 18:20

3pm too late for me I like to be near home by then and avoid the traffic all the way to kew, it is quite awful once schools close.

another day then, I would like to take dd to a different playground since we always go to north sheen or kew bridge.

one of my favourite meals is crusty fresh bread with brie and tomato and basil washed down with some wine

bunyanvillas · 11/02/2008 19:02

Oh fine, no worries, you're not wrong about the traffic. I can do Fri morning if you'd prefer a morning - or next week - half term!! It does get a bit like groundhog day visiting the same playgrounds week in, week out. In fact I'm going to try the bunny park in Hanwell soon for that very reason. That's assuming I can find it - this will be my second attempt! Gosh feeling hungry now with all this food talk. Steppie, am now in a position where I think I can say building work is going well! We are having upstairs carpeted next week and the playroom should be finished by Weds with possibly even the flooring down by the weekend! Kitchen refit starting beginnning of March. And after that it's baked beans on toast for the next 5 years! Am hoping that the intense stress will be worth it - and we should just about be finished before the baby makes an appearance!

bunyanvillas · 11/02/2008 19:04

PS: SJ - we'll still head to Marble Hill tomorrow arvo - it's our second home! So -lovely if you can make it. By the time I get dd home from nursery and we have lunch, we don't tend to make it anywhere until at least 2.30/3.00pm.

SJ99 · 11/02/2008 19:09

That's a pity Sfx seeing as it was your idea. But I know what you mean about getting on bus before the schoolies get on, it can get a bit manic.

3pm ok Bunyan unless DS in really bad mood in which case I'll text you beforehand. You can come round for cuppa afterwards if you want as I don't live too far away. Hope to see you tomorrow

you're all making me feel hungry and I've just eaten!

OP posts:
SJ99 · 11/02/2008 19:13

Surprised I haven't seen you there before, we're often at MH too!

Will try and go to playgroup in morning

Glad house work is coming on well. Need to go and find some more food now

OP posts:
slng · 11/02/2008 19:32

Just been summoned upstairs by supposedly sleeping ds1 to be told he likes me! I suppose it would be ungracious to say shut up and sleep

Bunyan - bunny park not that easy to find, is it? We lived around here for years before we found it! The trick is to go along Church Lane till the very end without being distracted by all the bends and that's where the car park is. Park is a bit sad in winter with some missing animals but still good fun.

SJ - haven't done the Naan yet but there's a curry planned this week! Must find food now too. Some sort of Thai/vietnamese salad type thing to use up mint and coriander...

sfxmum · 11/02/2008 19:44

we have never been to Marble Hill but might try it tomorrow anyway sometime at around 11 or so.
not sure about the weather toward the end of the week.
but it would be great to meet up with someone at some point.

I might go into hiding for half term
dd is still going and is full of beans I predict a crash soon after the bath

bunyanvillas · 11/02/2008 20:12

Cool, SJ - hopefully see you tomorrow - temp will apparently be 15 in the afternoon, hurrah! SFX, hope to see you very soon too! If you can't make Friday, perhaps next week? Although I know where you are coming from ref. going into hiding for half term. Sing, ta for the directions, I think I now know where I went wrong before.

rosmerta · 11/02/2008 20:32

hi all, glad everyone seems to be doing ok. My mum was looking after ds today and he's managed to bite his lip & poke a stick in his eye!

Can't do Marble Hill tomorrow as its a bit too far on the bus but would anyone like to meet up later in the week? There are a couple of nice parks near me if anyone wants to try something different!
