How exciting to be starting thread

Yay, thanks Sfx, am already looking forward to banana bread, mmmm!

In Sweden they had Noise Police (everything is so formally governed over there) but what a great idea, they used to go and put a stop the noise polluters, no messing.

We are ahead here - taking a big bag of clothes to the charity shop this afternoon! (Assuming I can persuade dc to go out ...)

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2008 15:10

yep, boss didn't show up.

i'd like to say i'm surprised but i'm not. what i am surprised about is how bloody pissed off i am!

SJ99 · 28/02/2008 15:19

No help with the sleeping as DS doing the same but you have my sympathy. He too has been waking 1-2hrs earlier and skipping naps but doesn't have the stamina to keep going til bedtime, hence cranky toddler at tea time. He's ok if we're at home having quiet play, happy and tired = good combination, but stroppy and tired = nightmare!

Mellow - have sent you an email

OP posts:
sfxmum · 28/02/2008 15:27

SJ that seems to happen a lot when they drop naps, I always need to slot in some quiet time and if the day is extra busy she does nap.
sometime we just go to my bed with a couple of stories and read quietly all cuddled up.

Paddle sorry about the time waster

slng I need to fight terrible anxiety when chucking stuff out I am a natural hoarder
it is a bit like extreme therapy for me

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2008 15:34

sfx, time waster is spot on.

i don't doubt my performance would be marked down if i constantly missed meetings but i bet he'll get a big fat bonus!

SJ99 · 28/02/2008 16:19

Too right unfortunately, how annoying though Paddle

OP posts:
fitfox · 28/02/2008 16:21

Paddle that would really piss me off too. A good way to make your staff feel under valued - not even bother to turn up to meetings you have scheduled with them

My boss kept rescheduling my 121s at the last minute so this motnh I said "Hey you'd better not cancel my 121 at the last minute Mister". He is nice and has a sense of humour, your boss sounds like a bit of an uncommunicative ass IYKWIM.

Did he forget or something?

Does he have a PA you can have a moan to?

SJ99 · 28/02/2008 16:22

Sfx - I've noticed we do read loads more books especially in the afternoons instead of ging out, DS gets most tired then if no nap. As with all these things I keep reminding myself it's just a phase!

OP posts:
fitfox · 28/02/2008 16:23

Oh about the clothes - do you want my entire collection or just the ones you kindly lent me? Shall I try and remamber which were yours and put my "faves" in too, rather than the whole shebang?

sfxmum · 28/02/2008 16:36

another thing is dd seems to ignore food for most of the day then by 4 she stuff herself which means she is not that hungry for dinner, which can't be too late because she will then be too cranky
my only goal is that she does eat something

only a phase which I expect is easier than when they become teenagers perspective and all that

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2008 17:07

Arg! I don't bloody believe it, I left my bloody laptop on my desk!
I bloody thought my bag was light.
Now have to drop dd off at pre-school then dash to office and collect then dash home and pick her up.
Buggery buggery buggery!
I hate forgetting things, it's not like me. I just have so much on my mind at present.

SJ99 · 28/02/2008 18:54

Oh no what an absolute pain in the bum. Hope your evening gets better, enjoy glug o'clock

OP posts:
SJ99 · 28/02/2008 19:08

Oh and TW on at 7pm tonight or you can watch on BBC i-player if you miss it. I too taped it and shall go and watch it later

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2008 19:37

bugger was putting dd to bed.

thanks for the i-player tip. wonder if it'll be repeated on tv tho, so much nicer to watch on the bigger screen.

wish i could download onto my ipod tho

slng · 28/02/2008 20:38

I have taken a big bag of clothes to the charity shop but house doesn't seem any less cluttered! I'm beginning to think clutter is a state of mind ...

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2008 20:45

now then slng, don't start with existential stuff at this time of night!

i am enjoying the freedom of no laptop = no work for the evening. glug o'clock is underway and i am not thinking about:

the mad dash to collect laptop
the visit for lunch from best friends who are departing for NZ next week
the sunday lunch i am cooking on for mother's day

bunyanvillas · 28/02/2008 20:48

PC we have a new hob and oven arriving tomorrow (I hope) and so also need to find a corgi registered bod to fit the hob pdq. Will let you know how we get on and pass on any contacts etc. dd went for a spin on her plastic car this afternoon and announced that she was off to the shops "to buy some ready meals" ... I must admit I've had enough of 'em at this point -bring back my kitchen, all is forgiven!

Kewcumber · 28/02/2008 22:46

I think I'm going to childs play cafe tomorrow morning unless the weather is good enough for me to risk Kew. Is it still half term? Could I risk lollipop club instead?

Paddlechick666 · 29/02/2008 07:50

morning, result with dd last night. asleep by 7:30 and didn't wake till 6:30 but stayed quietly in bed till 7am. good job as i was awake from 3-5

preparing for the mad dash to the office to pick up my laptop. just hope i can do the round trip in time to collect dd at 12:30!

bunyan, that would be great thanks! where did you get your oven/hob from? i'm still hunting for something that's good value!

SJ99 · 29/02/2008 09:17

Morning all

Going to try Cheeky monkeys today at Marble Hill if anyone wants to join

QC - I think most half terms are finished now so you should be safe

PC - Great news for minipads, not quite so lucky with DS, lack of sleep and loss of appetite makes me suspect another molar on it's way

OP posts:
sfxmum · 29/02/2008 09:41

good morning all

paddle good on mini pad hope dash goes well

SJ what is cheeky monkeys? hope teething is not too bad.

bunyan glad to see thing are coming along and dd is learning valuable lessons

meanwhile at sfx's flat dd slept great, mr.sfx is well chuffed with his DIY skills (he put up shelves)
and I spent a good porting of the night self diagnosing assorted ailments which can all only mean imminent death or something

Paddlechick666 · 29/02/2008 11:18

Heading back into richmond now so might even have time to pick up some lunch treats! There's a simply food at the station now.
Wondering if should buy expensive card for mother or rely on charm of what dd will make tomorrow and brownie points for cooking lunch lol.
Sfx, hope cold light of day has banished your ailments. We should get on messenger and chat in the wee hours!

sfxmum · 29/02/2008 11:36

paddle oh yes all gone I don't tend to be too crazy for long, jut enough to rob me of much needed sleep

am not on msn btw once I got into so instant chat thing by mistake and got scared

ComeOVeneer · 29/02/2008 13:52

Hi all.

Ele I'm not sure if I will be able to do a cake for dd as it is my mother's 60th on Eaaster Monday so will be doing hers that week. What would you be looking for?. I guess I could do 2 that week if you want something relatively simple (and thus not too time consuming). Let me know.

It is beginning to feel like I'm a WAHM these days. Inbetween school/nursery runs I am typing newsletters, making posters for shool events, printing tickets, sourcing things for events online/telephone, trying to drum up sponsors, pta meetings, and now making cakes.

I made these yesterday/today for a friend for her mother for Sunday, and a second batch for my mum

ComeOVeneer · 29/02/2008 13:55

I must work out how to put pictures from the camera onto the computer/my profile so I can show you the real thing.

Paddle sorry re meeting and lack of sleep. Ds has only recently dropped naps yet he is still often really tierd/cranky late afternoon. I can't let him go to bed early though as otherwise he will be up even earlier. Morning currently starts at about 5.45am, but he will entertain himself for a while before demanding "LET ME OUT". (his room has a starigate across the door)
