New thread as the other one is not going to last long.

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 16:56

pmsl! oh well, happy birthday for next week then

MrsRecycle · 01/01/2008 17:01

thanks - you're not alone, I've been receiving HB messages from a few others as well! Bet you've never been this early in wishing someone HB before

foxcubinapeartree · 01/01/2008 17:21

Sounds like a real giggle MRSR!!

BTW what do you want me to do with the 200 BF pumps you lent me?

Am having a clear out ATM.

Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 17:23

foxie if you're having a clear out could i get those mat clothes and bf pillows back too?

ta

MrsRecycle · 01/01/2008 17:28

I might know someone who I could pass them onto so I'll pick them up, if you could hold on to them for me. We're not at the caravan for the next two months so I should be able to pop over one weekend - obviously not the weekend after next as it's my birthday

Must be something in the air - I'm having a clear out as well - does your dd want a age 3-5 Barbie dress up outfit (nutcracker one)? Or are you flooded with them?

sfxmum · 01/01/2008 17:40

MrsR actually was looking up to you as a very well preserved 48 yr old with toddlers.
another shattered illusion

happy birthday for the actual day then

foxcubinapeartree · 01/01/2008 18:38

Paddle - yes you can pick them up tomorrow perhaps M'Dear? I have got cushions and just need to get the bags of mat clothes out of the cupboard for you. They are all bagged up etc. (He He Brilliant - more space in which to store more stuff!!!)

MrsR - yes will hang onto them. There is one I use, which is the Avent manual pump as I can use it to convert my electric one to manual if need be. That was very useful at my work Christmas party, when I hid in disabled loo for 15 minutes, relieving my about-to-pop mammaries

DS1 is hammering a nail into the wall, to hang up his Dr Who calendar!!

We have a woman coming to see the room tomorrow - so I have been painting the walls too!!

QC have you heard any more from the chap your friend/sister know, as to whether he is interested at all? I posted a couple of ads yesterday so will start to see potenial lodgers from tomorrow onwards. I have put the rent up but your friend can have it at the price I quoted to you if he is still looking. I have decided I will charge "strangers" slightly more than "friends of friends" - danger money LOL!!

Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 19:15

okay cool, planning on doing a mega e-bay session!

i am proud to announce my first mortgage payment has gone out today!

i am officially skint and exceedingly happy with that fact

start of a new year in my new home.

foxcubinapeartree · 01/01/2008 19:28

nice one paddle - new year, new start!

GloriaInEleusis · 02/01/2008 09:58

Back at work now, but I'm going to attempt to keep up with this thread. I'll probably fail that mission, but hey, I can try...

Congrats, Paddle, on your mortgage. Here wishing you a much better 2008!! You deserve it.

MrsR, happy pre-birthday. Where is your DH taking you????

sfxmum · 02/01/2008 10:41

good morning all

Paddle congratulations it is such a good feeling

all seems back to normal now

SJ99 · 02/01/2008 13:07

Afternoon all

Glad all enjoyed NYE. Dusted off my hiking boots and walked up Pen Y Fan yesterday which was wonderful, great way to start the new year literally feeling on top of the world Stunning views on the way up but when we reached the peak a mega cloud descended and it was suddenly dark & freezing, felt like the dementors were chasing us

Foxie - good luck with lodger hunt, hope you find a better one than last time

Paddle - congrats, what a nice feeling to be in your own home. Something we need to try and resolve this year...

SFX - glad DH sulk over with, bummer he had to go into work

Mrs R - also wishing a you a pre-happy birthday Any plans?

GloriaInEleusis · 02/01/2008 13:13

Oh, lodger hunting. I've missed that. God, I hope it's more fun than nanny hunting. It seems everyone is hibernating this time of year. Or maybe the UK is not an appealing place in early Jan.

Well, I've got to March.

What happened with the last lodger?

Kewcumber · 02/01/2008 14:03

Foxie, will chase re lodger.

Sushi - do you like the nursery your DS is at? Am thinking of registering DS for pre-school there next January - what is general advice? Was thinking of 2 mornings/afternoons a week to start.

Warning to Sushi and Ele - I have passed on some of the stuff you both kindly gave me to Foxie for her DS2, so don't be surprised if you recognise him in something!

SushiMummy · 02/01/2008 14:40

Afternoon all!

QC and sfx (as I remember you mentioning the nursery before, too) - my first advice would be 'be quick' as it is nearly fully taken up. DS likes the nursery and the staff are very friendly. The only problem is that the staff turnover ratio has been high - we lost two main carers in 6 months. The food is not prepared on the premises but they do 'Annabel Karmel' meals. Plenty of outside playing and they even have softplay area which DS loves. So in summary, I like the nursery. OMG, I just looked at the website and my DS is on it!

Am pleased that our stuff has been passed on. I actually did another wardrobe cull and have a large bag full of clothes. Would you like to have a look before I take it to the charity shop, Kew?

Kewcumber · 02/01/2008 15:06

yes please sushi - was particularly sad to pass on the blue and white stripey jersey suit...

Will ring nursery this week.

sfxmum · 02/01/2008 15:38

Thanks Sushi and Kc for reminder, I have really been dragging my feet on that one
have just emailed them and will follow up with phone call and visit soon I hope

I seem to have the de cluttering bug, a mild form I hasten to add but persistent as I seem to be throwing something out everyday

I hope you are all well

am excited about the prospect of snow, got to have have the seasonal pic to send to relatives in sunny climes

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 16:11

Hiya - am a bit as woman didn't turn up to view the room and she sounded nice>
QC thanks for chasing that man - he sounds good too!!

Ele - I evicted the last one just before Christmas - he was a plonker. Rent is paid until 18 Jan but I am looking. I have the same problem in that its a bad time to be advertising for someone - .

I advertised in Loot last time and was inundated but its expensive. I have advertised for a woman this time. Last time I'd say 70% responses were from men, so I have cut down my potential field quite a lot. With the exception of QC's friend, it'd be nice to have a woman for a change. TBH its a PITA having to find someone - a bit like when you have your home on the market to sell, I have to keep it reasinably tidy and civilised looking, which anyone whose visited will recall is quite a challenge for a naturalu clutterer like myself.

Right, off to do some more decluttering (sfx - "snap"!)

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 16:15

Sushi - tried to spot your Ds and culdn't. The nursery looks very nice - although I'd swear that some of those kids are at least eight!!

Talking of swearing I heard DS1 say to DD "I've just given you a "right bollocking""!!! Where did he hear that???

Paddlechick666 · 02/01/2008 16:16

dd starts pre-school next Friday!!! she looks so cute in her sweatshirt.

I'm probably incurring great cost and should've waited till she was 3 but I think she'll get a tremendous amount out of it.

It also enables me to re-structure my working week so I can take Friday pm off.

Kew, am planning to get into a routine of a swim about 3:30ish followed by tea at Wagamama if you fancy it on a Friday? Probably not tea out every Friday tho - too expensive. Also depends how tired little miss is after her pre-school session in the morning.

foxie, sorry about today. I haven't felt 100% and dd was a proper grump when she woke up. Have wasted the afternoon assembling her train set just so she can ignore it

I have discovered that these flats have a condensation problem. Next door have had one of their rooms cladded to solve it. Found some mold in dd's room this morning

Also found that they don't get on with the neighbours below me. They weird me out a bit already. Massively friendly, keep giving dd presents and she has come round a few times and invited herself in! Next door say she'll be round constantly before I know it!

Intend not to open the door again! I already thought the husband a bit creepy tbh.

ho-hum

Paddlechick666 · 02/01/2008 16:18

oh, just remembered, kew you don't do scummy public pools anymore do you!

oh well.........

sfxmum · 02/01/2008 16:34

dd to me - you know napkins are very useful things - pause - sometimes you are very useful too perhaps boarding school

Paddle neighbours sound a bit much. sorry about the dampness in our former flat we needed a dehumidifier running almost constantly in winter

rosmincepieeater · 02/01/2008 16:40

Hi all, I just about made it to midnight the other night but we forgot about our champagne

Glad everyone enjoyed their nights anyway!

Paddle, I can't join you every week but I'd be happy to meet you when I can for swimming. Would that be Richmond pool btw?

Good luck with lodger & nanny hunting!

bunyanvillas · 02/01/2008 17:53

Greetings and Happy New Year one and all! I am very proud of the fact that I made it through to 1230am Hope everyone is very well. It is total and I mean TOTAL chaos here in the bunyan household. Refurbing with an almost 3 year old in tow is a very, erm ... interesting experience!

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 18:39

I feel like shite - coming down all fluey. Just as well you and DD didn't come over today Paddle - probably infectious.

DS1's friend has just turned up for a playdate and they are both being very mean to DD . I really wanted to go to bed early tonight - no doubt they will be up half the night, giggling.
