Nice to see you Sushi and glad Ds had a grand time and felt spoilt

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday - went to my health club with a friend and we spent about 90 minutes in the pool (swimming, gossiping and floating with our arms and legs in a star shape - being silly basically) - which we had to ourselves! It is warm, low lit and very plush. Then we went in the jacoozi which made us giggle a lot and the steam room (which smelt of menthol and completely cleared my chesty cough). We both felt very relaxed and pampered afterwards.

Now I would like to smuggle DS2 into the menthol steam room as I think it would do him the world of good (he has a rattly chest).

Popped over to see 2Cute afterwards. It was lovely to see her and her DS looked so grown up! My DS1 and her DS spent the time being real "boys", whizzing around in various cars/scooters/bikes, having a laugh.

Anyone going out tonight then - or is it a glass of vino indoors with Jools Holland?

bahKewcHumbug · 31/12/2007 13:30

it will be a baked potato and a diet coke in front of Ballet shoes which I taped for me... can;t wait

SJ99 · 31/12/2007 13:41

Greetings from Wales

You girls make me laugh - I used to be a fan of snakebite and black well until Blastaways came along! And Steppie I thought it was only DH and I who were sad enough to sqeeze the bag for the last few drops of wine, pmsl!!

Things going well at my parents, I actually feel like I'm on hols (apart from lack of sunshine). DH working in Bristol again but at least he doesn't have to stay in hotel this week.

Took DS swimming today, for some reason they let us in free what a bargain. Foxie - glas you emnjoyed your pool/pamper sesh , I love pratting about doing fake synchro swimming too!

Everyone enjoy their NY plans, I'm sure I'll have 1 glass wine/bubbly and fall asleep by 10pm

sfxmum · 31/12/2007 13:52

hi all

I think we are off to Kew soon for a spin in Carousel.

Jools may well feature tonight along with some wine and toasted Panetone yum.

Happy New Year to all

SJ99 · 31/12/2007 14:03

Mmm panetone, that's something I've never tried but it sounds tasty, enjoy SFX.
My mum is making us some of my fave Indian foods for a mini party tonight, cannot wait.

When I was younger I always wanted to go to Edinburgh for Hogmany, always looked good on tv. I just read in the paper that there will be lots on online parties taking place tonight as people cannot be bothered with the hassle & expense of going out tonight. I guess that's one way of avoiding a hangover

stepfordwife · 31/12/2007 14:21

hi everyone
how you all diddling?

well, the wine box trick 9good to hear you're a devotee, SJ) is the legacy of growing up in a lairy irish family of mad aunties who wouldn't dream of leaving a 'feckin' bit of drink' undrunk.

actually, been sorting through photos (decided after two years in our "new" house time got some on the walls0 and found loads of family dos in the 70s...swirly carpets, formica tables, dodgy clothes and, most noticably, overflowing ashtrays - gave the kids something to play with..

foxie, your health club sounds lush. wd deffo love to go some time. glad you saw 2cute.
yep, i'll be trying to keep my eyes open watching jools holland with a sense of deja vu..

kew, i've never dabbled in illegal drugs (too scared) the worst offenders are a circle of midwives/nurses i know..perk of the job.
once at a party, one of them, shoved a bottle under my noser and said 'sniff this."
thinking;'Oh lovely, must be essential oils,' i sniffed.
Woooahhhhhhh!
it was amyl nitrate, not, er, neroli.

ahhh, thanks sfx, pannetone....got two of the buggers. toasted/ sounds good. another friend suggested it with custard, but said her italian mate thought that sacrilege.

dh has taken brood and MIL to british museum while i clean hoiues/tiddy oiut my wardrobe/give myself a head to toe scrub-up ready for the new year

over-ambitious?

stepfordwife · 31/12/2007 14:24

and

HAPPY NEW YEAR

SushiMummy · 31/12/2007 16:36

I should've said Happy New Year, too.

Talking of your DH, Steppie, think I just saw him with your brood and MIL in Kew. Hope you had a productive afternoon.

My fave was lager and black, it was popular oop north back then.

bahKewcHumbug · 31/12/2007 16:39

steppie - make bread and butter pudding with them. Should be delicious.

sfxmum · 31/12/2007 17:27

I would second KC with the bread and butter pudding

Kew was nice we are drinking Baileys now

bangers and mash for dinner followed by apple crumble, the panetone is a midnight feast I think.

Have a nice evening all

sfxmum · 31/12/2007 17:29

there is a thread around asking advice on dating Portuguese men, I feel it is my duty to discourage such foolish behaviour

foxcubinapeartree · 31/12/2007 18:37

LOL SFX - I could say the same about Irish men ...

I like the idea of online NYE party (spot the lazybones, who doesn't like going out in the cold)

But even more, I like the idea of a Midnight Feast!!!

DH and I went to Trafalgar Square one year for NYE when we were DINKYs - it was terrifying - like being trapped in the middle of thousands of drunken, groping, pick-pocketing yobs...(errr spot the lazybones, who doesn't like going out in the cold)

SJ glad you are having a little holiday in wales - sounds perfick - (remembers fondly Snakebite and black)

Steppy - how spooky - I was thinking this morning how cool it would be to get some pics of me and my sisters as kids in 1960s/70s dresses and put them on the walls. My Mum has hundreds of pics of us. It would be so funny to display them now!! I'll show you mine, if you show me yours!!

rosmincepieeater · 31/12/2007 18:39

lol sfx!

Hi all, just popping in while dh bathes ds! Had a lovely morning at the park today, one of ds's friends turned up so they had lots of fun running round. This friend of his is a girl and me and her mum had lots of fun imagining them getting married !

We've rented some films for this evening, dh is off to get a Thai takeaway from Fat Boys (fingers crossed they're actually open) and there's a bottle of champers in the fridge so we're all set (oh yes and the 3.5kg tin of roses dh bought because it was on sale)!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening, I will catch up properly later!

Happy New Year

Paddlechick666 · 31/12/2007 19:02

where's this online party then?

i have some champers in the fridge but it hardly seems worth opening for just me. i managed to drink the best part of a bottle of wine last night without really noticing and felt a little dusty this morning!

and there's me accusing db of being an alky!

talking of which, anyone ever do a depth charge with their snakebite? or a red witch - snakebite with a pernod & black chaser!

no wonder there is so much drink induced vomiting in the young LOL!

ros, am very of your fat boys! i have some jumbo prawns and will make a nice salad with toasted pine nuts i think.

no chocs, i was unable to restrain myself last night and finished off the ones kew brought over!

bahKewcHumbug · 31/12/2007 20:30

my mum has come around and brought fish and chips - nice Though DS is so wound up that she is here that he is wailing about going to sleep!

SJ99 · 31/12/2007 20:35

Red witch, now you're talking Paddle I forgot I used to drink that, oh dear

Have started on red wine, just waiting for food, have to say it is already going to my head, I am such a lightweight these days

Foxie/Steppie - bet you had fun looking at your old pics, I bet there are some gems in there

One online party was mentioned in paper at on their message boards. FB groups also mentioned. You can also watch countdown and fireworks on you tube. Not sure I will join in but please report back if it's any good!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

foxcubinapeartree · 31/12/2007 23:23

[hic]

DS1 is watching Jools Holland - very excited 'cos his fave band are on soon - Madness (very appropriate)

[Have had a glass of M&S sparkly which has gone straight to my bonce

bahKewcHumbug · 31/12/2007 23:38

well I'm off to bed now.

Happy new year everyone.

foxcubinapeartree · 01/01/2008 00:48

Happy New year

Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 08:05

happy new year all, managed to stay up till about 11pm!

dd was awake at 4am and took 2 hours, some medi-sed and coming into my bed to get back to sleep.

more friends coming for lunch today and i don't really feel like it all!

hope dd doesn't wake up again tonight, really can't figure out what it was. she was wide awake and happily telling the world!

she's running round saying "happy your ear" now

Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 09:33

just spoke to my parents (in their 70s) who got home at 2:30am this morning and are now having a full english with bucks fizz and are hosting a drinks party tonight!

aren't they supposed to be in their bath chairs going gaga by now?

gives me great hope for a debauched old age for me!

sfxmum · 01/01/2008 13:51

HAPPY NEW YEAR with apologies to any sore heads

hope you all had a pleasant evening

I guess I am alone in my dislike of beer and cider? yuck yuck

mr.sfx is in quite a bad mood as he has been 'on call' yesterday and today, until this morning he got away with giving advice over the phone but today had to go in.
will just leave him to sulk I think, particularly as he does have a point

MrsRecycle · 01/01/2008 14:08

Happy New Year everyone! dh and I had a lovely evening round df (mum of 6) house - we spent the evening on the ps2 singing our hearts (or ears off) out and got home at 5am. I laughed so much I was crying. Am a bit hungover but LO's are away at Grandparents and dh is cooking me a breakfast.

Oh sfx - it was something you had to do when you were young and skint. It got you drunk very quick (especially if you used a straw). Sorry to hear about dh being in a bad mood. I've been holding off on checking work emails as I know it'll wind me up. My poor mil had to work Christmas Day, Boxing Day and they wanted her to work today as well (she's a nurse in gynie) but she's ill with flu.

And talking of midwifes being the worst drugies - I knew of one that had to take valium to come down so that she could work. I pitied any mum that had to give birth with her.

Well looks like 2008 is going to be a sober year for me - everytime I drink I get terrible stomach cramps. I thought it was this bug but I'm sitting her in agony. So I'm going to cut out booze.

Paddlechick666 · 01/01/2008 16:34

never mind happy new year MrsR, what about Happy Birthday To YOU!

sounds like you had a good night.

MrsRecycle · 01/01/2008 16:50

Thanks Pc and sfx for your facebook wishes - however my birthday's not until a week on Saturday and I'm not that old!! I had to put a fake dob on facebook as I didn't want to publish this for all and sundry. So I'll only be 43 and not 48!
