Paddle can you come out on the Razzle?:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/4136/443820?ts=1198953829475&msgid=9039530

(Naughty, naughty Ros, just saw your post re the dates!! )

GloriaInEleusis · 29/12/2007 19:08

Hi everyone, lots here to catch up with so sorry if I miss anyone.

Padddle, Ikea is a PITA sometimes. I put a desk together for DD on Christmas even and the instructions were seriously lacking details. Managed to get up with only minor reworks in the end. I can come round one night and help you if you want (after work of course). Not that I'm any more skilled than you are, but two pairs of hands might be better than one. I know you said weekday evenings aren't great, but if I came on the weekend I would probably have to bring the munchkins in tow.

COV, Sorry about your MIL. She is a piece of work at times. (hugs to you)

sfxmum · 30/12/2007 09:56

good morning all

eleusis nice to see you around

Ros - seems Paddle was indeed right you do forget about labour and in fact just having had a baby at allbless

foxie not so much resolutions but things to look forward to, the coming year is the last both Dh and me will be in our 30's, so no doubt some neurosis will ensue

we have a big family wedding in the summer, which will be nice
I expect dd will start some nursery hrs and
we would very much like to have another baby

otherwise be as happy and content as I can and annoy the least number of people as humanly possible I guess

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 11:12

morning all

just done my best chav impression by going up and down the stairs 4 times with bottles for the recycling in my slippers!

my new year's resolution is to get divorced.

bahKewcHumbug · 30/12/2007 13:54

my new years resolution is to stop paddle sliding any further down the chav route. Practical suggestions for this gratefully received.

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 13:58

in my defence, it was a month's worth of bottles and my very boozy mate and parents have all visited quite a bit.

also, i took dd with me rather than leave her upstairs on her own with a fruit shoot and a packet of wotsits.

if you're really serious about helping me not to slide further you could come over and do the recycling for me

bahKewcHumbug · 30/12/2007 14:04

couldn't you just lower a bag from the window?

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 14:23

yes but then how would i get it to the recycle bin?

GloriaInEleusis · 30/12/2007 14:37

I thought the chavvy thing to do was hurly the wine boxes out the window. I'm not sure poncey wine bottles to the recycling bin qualifies.

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 14:52

pmsl! wine boxes, now why didn't i think of that?

btw, thanks for assembling offer. sofa-bed is very servicable as a sofa for now tho ta.

i don't actually intend to use it for a bed for a very long time, if ever, tbh. purely an emergency measure should i ever have 2 lots of guests at any time which i don't intend to do for a very long time.

having my 3 month houseguest and my mother staying 2 nights a week thru the summer pushed me to the limit of my hospitality for quite some time!

stepfordwife · 30/12/2007 14:55

my new year's resolution is to prevent kew's attempts to rein in paddle's chavtastic tendencies...
it's her right, kew, it's her right...
trust they're (fake) burberry slippers, paddle

know what you mean - have been faintly embarrassed at number of wine bottle clinking into our recyling bin each day...

nothing to do with me, i'm induilging my for-christmas-only-old-lady's-one-glass-of-sherry-a-day-habit..

dh has taken crew to kew gardens. should have gome, but i'm clearing out my wardrobde..
as you can see...

went to the park at palewell common in sheen for first time yesterday..it was fab. have you been, kew?

then took little fellas to see enchanted at flicks.
a complete, er, fairytale. but loved it. although..

a) am very easily pleased these days to get to sit in silence for two hours, indulging in a classic magnum
b) am very pre-menstrual

hope everyone is well
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 30/12/2007 14:58

and with wine boxes, you've got the added attraction of blowing up the bag to get the last dregs out..

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 15:07

rotflmao! there speaks the voice of experience!

you just outed yerself steppie!

can't wait till dd is old enough to enjoy the cinema. 2 hours of peace and quiet sitting in the dark - bliss!

dd has taken to her new Little Henry amazingly seeing as how I don't think she's ever seen me use a hoover! it does actually work, i have just got all the crumbs off the kitchen floor with it.

fabbo!

stepfordwife · 30/12/2007 15:29

..reckon i was chav light years before the phrase was invented, paddle!

lol at dd not knowing what a hoover, sorry, little henry is...dd has similar problems with our ironing bortad. got it out once (probably trying to get at my wione boxes stashed behind it in the cuipborad under the stairs..) and dd kept saying 'table! tazble!). the shame....

no, i can't wait either. the little fellas were both about 3 for their first visit to the flicks. ds1 sat through lilo and stitch, but ds2 got fed-up halway through finding nemo...me and dh had a whipspered bicker about who had to take him home as we were both enjoying the film!

bahKewcHumbug · 30/12/2007 20:05

"and with wine boxes, you've got the added attraction of blowing up the bag to get the last dregs out.." there is a whole world out there of which I know nothing, I will add this to my list of things I never knew were even possible alongside Paddles suggestion of aspirin and coke for a cheap high

GloriaInEleusis · 30/12/2007 20:23

Eh? Aspirin + coke = cheap high What kind of coke are we talking about?

bahKewcHumbug · 30/12/2007 20:46

well obviously the cheap kind

Am I the only person in the universe never to have taken any illegal drugs? Not even a non-inhaling sniff!

foxcubinapeartree · 30/12/2007 22:03

ooh [pitying emoticon] for Kew

Did I ever tell you I squatted an 11 bed Freemason's house on the Kew Road?

...well not just me, there were 11 of us...

Tee Hee

Steppy ROFL at the visual image of you blowing up a wine box and sucking the dregs out!!!!

foxcubinapeartree · 30/12/2007 22:05

Who used to drink Snakebites then?

Paddlechick666 · 30/12/2007 22:10

me! and i was the only one who got served coz apparently the lads would only get lairy!

foxcubinapeartree · 30/12/2007 22:27

Snakebites RULE OK!!!

GloriaInEleusis · 30/12/2007 23:03

So Kew, are we talking Classic, Diet, Zero? [smile}

I don't even know what a snakebite is... unless we are talking about camping... but somehow I doubt it.

foxcubinapeartree · 30/12/2007 23:14

Ele Snakebit is an old English tradition - 50% cider and 50% lager - gets you very drunk, very cheaply! Much loved by students across the nation!

GloriaInEleusis · 30/12/2007 23:42

Ohhh... the things I learn on mumsnet.

SushiMummy · 31/12/2007 07:46
