Have a brilliant time Mellow [waves]

sfxmum · 28/12/2007 12:44

foxie - thanks for invite but dh will be working one day this weekend, not sure when and that pretty much rules out a solo outing, next time.

mellow - have a lovely time will pop over to yours when you are back for my very own birthday present btw SIL&MIL very happy with bags

BIL asked if they were made by a women co-op because then I would get full marks for ethical present

hope you are all well, think will spend the afternoon making cards with dd to send as thank yous to rellies. lots of glitter and glue to follow I expect

SJ99 · 28/12/2007 15:14

Hello all

Went to gym this morning which was fab but had to queue to get in as it was so busy with people trying to start their New year's resolutions early

Have fun at your health club and party Foxie, hope you get to the right venue

Steppie - hope your DC managed to fill their tums when you got home LOL

Have a fab holiday Mellow, MIL liked the cream

foxcubinapeartree · 28/12/2007 15:59

sj - well done going to the gym. I nearly went to my club this morning for a swim as I kind of imagined it would be empty - clearly not.

sfx - I have been telling everyone that the lovely bags are made by a women's co-op in India - complete porky of course, but it sound even better than just saying they are made from recycled saris

sfxmum · 28/12/2007 16:07

does this mean that I will have to swat joggers off the path tomorrow morning? blardy new year resolutions

SJ99 · 28/12/2007 16:17

SFX/ Foxie - You'll have to run/swim with your elbows sticking out to shove people out of the way

Oh, forgot to say earlier I started eating meat Have been thinking about it for months and finally decided that if I was going to do it then I should start with Xmas dinner, so I did So far so good

sfxmum · 28/12/2007 16:48

foxie that is at least 3 hail Marys and a Pater Noster, tut tut tut

SJ and I have been considering going back the other way, have stocked up on more tofu and miso etc. not that we have much meat anyway.

have had a headache for most of the day and it just feels like a sugar withdrawal symptom, best open those last 2 boxes of biscuits then

foxcubinapeartree · 28/12/2007 23:20

Just returned from neighbour's party - it was lovely. We are having a mega street party in the summer so you are all invited [hic!!]

'Best go put the kids to bed I guess...

ComeOVenReadyturkey · 29/12/2007 10:37

Hi all. Haven't been here in ages. Hope everyone had a fab christmas. Ours went well, apart from the fact dh spent christmas eve until yesterday in bed with gastric flu and MIL did her utmost to spoil things (bought the same present for dd as my parents had, despite me telling her months ao what they were geting her, and suddenly developing food allergies and dislkies which meant she ate toast, red cabbage and roast potatoes for lunch ). Suffice to say I am knackered and the children are driving me crazy. We have turne down all invites for new year and tbh I doubt we will see the other side of minight this year.

rosmincepieeater · 29/12/2007 13:44

Hi all, we got back on Thurs eve, had a lovely xmas and ds enjoyed himself lots too. Best present winner so far is jointly to my brother (Bob the Builder vehicle set) and ds's godmother (Roary the racing car), ds hasn't stopped playing with them yet!

Hope everyone's doing well and also had a good time! Sfx, lol at your blasting ray idea!

Now to prepare for new year, which for us usually consists of deciding which takeaway to get and what films to wath

Dh has taken ds out for the day and I'm still in my pjs ! Think I will make the most of it, get a cup of tea & some christmas cake!

bahKewcHumbug · 29/12/2007 13:46

Foxie - my ma isn't quite up to scratch (think hse has pulled a muscle in her shoulder) so I don't feel I can ask her to babysit on Sunday.

rosmincepieeater · 29/12/2007 13:46

watch even!

Sj, am v impressed with gym, I've also decided to start going to one. Told dh and his response? "Hmm, better make sure they do a monthly membership so you can cancel it when you stop going in February"! Tbh, he does have a point!

bahKewcHumbug · 29/12/2007 13:46

just realised I haven;t had a single piece of Xmas cake this year!

Paddlechick666 · 29/12/2007 13:52

hi all, xmas was tolerable. dd had a blast anyways!

kew, thanks for popping over. good to see you and ds. ikea delivered 20 mins after you left

might be up for kew tomorrow arvo if this weather keeps up. dd is very slowly recovering from the horrid cough/vomit thing.

nye will be a miracle if i see midnight. have a bunch of friends/kids over for lunch which will be a bit manic i expect.

am impressed with all the sporting activites - jolly hockey sticks!

foxcubinapeartree · 29/12/2007 15:11

QC no probs - some other time eh?

Ros' how are you? Hope you enjoyed Christmas and let me know when you are fit for a swim !!!

Paddle - sorry your Christmas was mediocre. I have been meaning to call you these last few days but have been up to my neck in clearing out clutter (or crap, as I like to call it). I have to do it now as school hols are the only time when my life isn't completely manic and rushed.

Am sorting out an advert for new lodger too....(haven't heard any more re. your friend QC - is he still looking/not interested do you know?)

CoV - how annoying about your MiL. Its almost as though the food allergy thing is a direct reaction to all the effort you are going to. That would make me very . We had a funny incident on Christmas day when my domestic godess older sister (who cooked/hosted) mistakenly dished up some roast potatoes cooked in goose fat to my faddishly Vegan sister. Faddishly Vegan sister was none the wiser and tucked into them happily, so older sister decided not to say anything, as it would cause a family row. I was in the kitchen trying to stifle my giggles for about 5 minutes before I could walk back into the dining room with a straight face.

Paddlechick666 · 29/12/2007 16:05

ikea

not only did they deliver just when dd was napping, i have just spent 2 hours putting a very small, supposedly easy sofa-bed together.

and now i find i've got the base on wrong so it won't pull out properly!

fecking bum and pooh!

honestly, i think ikea is like childbirth. after a given period you forget how bloody painful it is!

ho-hum! well, it won't be being used as a sofa bed for a while coz i can't be arsed to pull it apart and start again!!!!

Paddlechick666 · 29/12/2007 16:06

ps: kew, sorry didn't open the chocs, i honestly forgot about them. very rude of me but thank you very much for bringing them.

i will enjoy a couple tonight with a large glass of ikea recovery vino!

SJ99 · 29/12/2007 16:09

Hello all

Went for walk round Kew this morning which was lovely even though it was cold.

Ros- glad you're feeling better, lucky you having a day to yourself - make the most of being in pj's

Foxie - Glad you found the party, LOL about your sister

SFX - I most likely will stick to my veggie diet but now a few times a mth I can eat meat with DS, means we can share a few more meals together. Not sure I will be adventurous enough to eat red meat though

Paddle - glad DD is better, that must lift your spirits

COV - pretty rotten of your MIL, hope you get a break soon

Am off to my parents for week in Wales tom so have the joy of packing to look forward to

SJ99 · 29/12/2007 16:11

Paddle - I can imagine how understandably you are, enjoy the chocs and recovery wine tonight though

rosmincepieeater · 29/12/2007 16:17

paddle, you've reminded me we've got a table & chair to set up for ds from Ikea, I might steer clear!

Walks around Kew are sounding good, we might head over there tomorrow at some point.

Foxie - lol at your sisters, and yes, I would love to come swimming with you. Will let you know when I can!

Sj, I was a veggie for years as well but started eating meat again a few years ago. Still don't eat red meat as never liked it that much anyway but MIL always forgets that!

rosmincepieeater · 29/12/2007 16:19

Oh & if anyone's interested in my pajama status, I'm still in them!!

SJ99 · 29/12/2007 16:23

Ros
Have to admit it's weird eating meat again after 10+ yrs more the texture than taste, but I never ate much meat either before I became veggie

Kew - just seen your pics on FB, awww lovely

sfxmum · 29/12/2007 16:27

hi all

paddle - the photos at least look gorgeous, and at Ikea is quite understandable., although I quite like putting their stuff together, dh shouts at it a lot

SJ - a good steak is nice, especially in a good restaurant hate preparing meat.

foxie party sounds great

Ros glad Christmas went well, hope you are recovering well

KC - can't do without Xmas cake, MIL sends about half a cake to keep us going on the way to London, and I get all the marzipan yum.

cov sorry about MIL

DH working all weekend but apparently off monday and tuesday, we shall see, he spent Christmas eve on the phone to work regularly from about 10am to 8pm.
at least he took dd out for a bit before leaving as I am not really up to it.

we just got our tree down, earlier than usual but I want it out of the way

Paddlechick666 · 29/12/2007 16:46

ros [anvy] at your pj status! i also have a table and chairs for dd from ikea. think i will wait for my NYE lunch visitors and get best mate to assemble and fix the sofa-bed for me!

sfx, i normally quite like doing it too but having inquisitive dd with her bob the builder kit on trying to "help" just pushed me over the edge! poor dd, more shouty mummy today for her.

foxie, pmsl at your vegan sister. i've been veggie and vegan in my time and i have to say eating meat does make life easier! i like my steak blue or very rare with a good roquefort cheese sauce and a bottle of chateux neuf du pape. YUM!

just realised i have nothing for supper tonight - tesco deliver tomorrow morning and i have some goodies coming then.

as for xmas, dd had a ball and ate a huge xmas dinner. including a large amount of sherry trifle, not that it sent her to sleep early!

foxcubinapeartree · 29/12/2007 18:42

Has anyone made any New Years resolutions then?
