Hi all,

I volunteered to look after this local site but I have been poorly so haven't done much!

I will be adding local details on in the next few days

Hello Elf - I'm hoping to move to Nottingham in August, so I look forward to seeing all your listings to help me find my way about.

ELF1981 · 29/06/2007 20:14

Hi purpleturtle - where abouts are you living at the moment?

We're in Sheffield - have been for about 15 years . Looking forward to a couple of years in Nottingham while dh studies at St John's College, assuming he's selected at the end of July.

When we get the go-ahead we'll be looking for a house to rent in Beeston/Bramcote.

purpleturtle · 02/07/2007 15:00

Hi boobylicious! I'd forgotten you were in Nottingham. Might be up for a meet-up once dd and ds1 are at school in September.

SueW · 02/07/2007 15:17

St John's College has MAHOOSIVE Nearly New Sale - the Kwon Sale - twice a year.

Also the NCT Nearly New Sale take place in Bramcote.

NCT and Kwon dates never clash.

dressedupnowheretogo · 03/07/2007 09:11

prple i lived in beeston all my life and i used to go to the comp next to st johns college

SueW · 03/07/2007 12:05

Alderman White? That's merging with Bramcote Hills and Bramcote Park, isn't it?

What's the point of specialist status schools if they then merge??!! And how realistic is it that pupils will move between the campuses (campi??!!)

AbbyLou · 03/07/2007 15:20

Hello everyone, I'm not quite in Nottingham but live in Long Eaton so not far away. I have a ds 2.5 and a dd 8 weeks.

dressedupnowheretogo · 04/07/2007 22:54

hi abby im formally booby im moving to long eaton at the end of the month

im moving to the new build near the station

dressedupnowheretogo · 04/07/2007 22:55

sue do you work in sainsbrys in beeston coz i did just after xmas

SueW · 05/07/2007 00:08

No I have never worked for Sainsburys. But I do shop there from time to time.

dressedupnowheretogo · 06/07/2007 11:20

lol ok

just wandered why u had a pic of it on your profile?

whats a kwon sale?

SueW · 06/07/2007 13:51

It's a grammar pedant thing.

Pic taken at Sains nr Derby. They were displaying both '10 items or fewer' and '10 items or less' signs at the checkouts. Comes up on here quite often so I had to take a pic when I saw both up together.

Kwon sale is a massive sale of nearly new children's clothing, toys, and nursery items, like an NCT Nearly New Sale. The Kwon sales are held, I think, in May & November, at St John's College. Bramcote. Great value. Sharpen your elbows. Never been but heard lots. I think they are still doing them.

AbbyLou · 06/07/2007 19:15

I know where you mean dressedup. I'm about 5 minutes walk from there.
For those of yo interested or local to me I have been to a new playcentre today. It's in Stapleford and it's called Little Drivers. It was really good. Obviously as it's new it's very clean but the people were lovely and were cleaning up all the time. The cafe part is reasonable and a good choice of healthy stuff too.

dressedupnowheretogo · 09/07/2007 08:55

oh abbey have you been to the new one in beeston yet or cyrils nut hut yet?

AbbyLou · 09/07/2007 14:30

I've not been to to the one in Besston yet if you mean Denz. Ds went with his cm but she said it's better for older kids really. Ds is 2.5 and not very physical I may add. Ds has been to Cyril's loads of times, I've been a few. It often looks a bit grubby to be honest but ds enjoys it. The Wacky Warehouse at PLany and Leggett in Sawley is better for little ones and the adult area has just been done up.

dressedupnowheretogo · 09/07/2007 14:37

oh good not been for ages have you been to crazy crocs?

do you use any of the salons in long eaton?

AbbyLou · 10/07/2007 21:41

I have never heard of Crazy Crocs - where is it?
Keith Hall is not a badplace to get you hair done but I usually go to the salon in the Village Hotel at Chilwell Reail Park. It's quite procey but not ridiculous and they do do a good job.

dressedupnowheretogo · 10/07/2007 23:46

cool

crazy crocs is in ilkeston near the big tesco

do you go to any toddler groups at all ? or do you know where any are ?

AbbyLou · 12/07/2007 11:00

ds goes to loads of toddler roups with his childminder. I'm on maternity leave at the moment and I take him to one on a Monday that he usually goes to with her. It's 10-11.30 at St. John's Church hall on the corner of College St/Canal St. It's not a religious group. Also the hv have their clinic in the room next door so it's handy for me to have dd weighed. None of the groups run through the summer holidays though. There is one in the school hall at Parklnads Infant Schoolon the Wilsthorpe Campus at 1.30 on a Tuesday afternoon, one at Christchurch on Derby Rd on a Wednesday morning and ds goes to one called Minizone on a Thursday afternoon but I'm not sure where that is. I can find out if you want. I know they do one at the Oasis church on Derby Rd too but I don't know when. I'm sure there are others in other parts of Long Eaton but I only know that end really as that's where ds cm lives.

dressedupnowheretogo · 12/07/2007 14:06

sorted

how old are your lo's?

we'll have to meet up for a coffee if you want when i move

AbbyLou · 12/07/2007 14:46

I have a ds who is 2 years 7 months and my dd is 9 weeks.
The cheesecake shop in Long Eaton is a nice little coffee place....
How old is you lo? Boy or girl? Do you work or are you a SAHM?
