Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

I occidentally watched Masterchef yesterday I though the baking ladies would have done a better job
I like cooking but both dh&dd can be quite conservative in their tastes

Kora winter always calls for heavier fare I find, but nice casseroles need not be too fattening, but so much better with dumplings Grin

I loves boxercise kicking and punching a bag is amazing and I could shout too, I will be there next week again

copper are you sure the strike will not affect you?

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 19:23

but I would have loved to have tasted that watercress custard or was it mouse? and the fish en papillote

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 19:24

btw the priest has left, dh ever the diplomat said 'so now that you converted to Catholicism, does it mean you will stop having children?'

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/11/2011 19:36

sfx - we may go on strike ourselves. Wink

What priest!?

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/11/2011 19:37

I do a fantastic watercress soup, Chinese style, even if I say so myself. Grin

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 19:40

copper I realised I had not mentioned on this thread but on my running buddies thread, dh has a friend who was an Anglican priest married with loads of kids, who has now converted to Catholicism
he does my head in in many ways

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/11/2011 20:55

sfx - re priest: kids affect some people that way, maybe. Hmm What do you think his kids think?

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 21:06

I don't think he actually thinks much about that, very ego centric, his wife home schools, children range from 15 - 4 and frankly I don't think he is that involved, far more important things on his mindHmm
DH asked if women priest was to much for him or maybe 'the gays'?

dh can challenge him far more cheekily than most people since they were childhood friends until Uni, don't think he is that used to it any more

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/11/2011 21:08

Loads of kids before begin catholic = good catholic
catholic priest with loads of kids = not so good catholic

Naive equations, maybe. Paradoxes of life, such as it is.

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 21:12

to be fair there are plenty of Catholic traditions where the priest are married, particularly in the East, not the view of the Vatican but there for centuries

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/11/2011 18:49

Taking refuge here. Kids hyper. Sore throat so can't make myself heard. Next best thing: ignore. But earplugs upstairs where the monsters are. What to do!?

sfxmum · 25/11/2011 19:10

Wine there copper

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/11/2011 20:22

All turned out OK with kids. Read stories even.

vbus · 25/11/2011 20:22

Hello all

I'm off to bed soon as I'm completely exhausted! Have finished getting everything ready for DS1 party tomorrow and have surprise meal booked for DH tomorrow night so I think I need to save my energy. Life may be slightly less hectic from next week, well in theory.

Anyway just wanted to wish everyone a nice wkend Smile Wine

Hello!

Finally cracked open the half-priced Waitrose champagne bought last week. Shock

Lazy fuzzy feeling now ...

sfxmum · 26/11/2011 19:55

But more to the point have you tried the mince pies?
Our champagne is still in the fridge

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/11/2011 21:21

Mince pies all gone! May have to get more.

sfxmum · 27/11/2011 19:54

hope everyone had a good weekend
we were kept busy and it all went very quickly, children here until 9pm it will be a late bedtime

tillyfernackerpants · 27/11/2011 20:15

Good weekend here, bit hectic though.

Just watching Made in Dagenham, am really enjoying it

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/11/2011 20:47

Good weekend.

DS2 had concert. 12+ 5yo kids on stage with various musical instruments big and small all tangled up in tinsel. Was amazed nobody/nothing fell off stage. Grin

sfxmum · 28/11/2011 16:28

tilly seems like you enjoyed the film, I decided to try and catch up with newish releases via the library, watched 127hrs, and Submarine both good. Now have Blue Valentine and Limitless to watch very different kinds of fims

copper dd's music concert in next Saturday, she is very pleased with herself as she moved up a level on swimming, it think it was touch and go but she really made an effort

spent most of the day doing housework and looking at jobs and freaking out, dh definitely out of a job by the 21st, still thee are people in worst circunstances than us, hopefully it will be ok soon.

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/11/2011 16:29

Hello!

Kids demanding fleece blankets so they can build a cave. Hmm Don't have the heart/energy to get them to do homework. I'm sure that can wait ...

tillyfernackerpants · 28/11/2011 18:20

sfx, I did enjoy it actually, good acting & interesting story always helps Grin

I would love ds1 to start music, but he already does 3 activities so am going to resist for at least a year, he has enough to do. Dh wants him to start Kumon Hmm am also resisting that!

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/11/2011 18:30

Somehow missed sfx's post. Well done on swimming minisfx. What are prospects for DH sfx? Anything else lined up? Hope something comes up soon.

Tilly - music over kumon. Kumon definitely to be resisted. There is something to be said for practice, say, in arithmetic. Though not like that, and not at this age.

DS2 wants to take up the cello, but his class is only taster class, so no serious practice at all. Keeps demanding to practise, but doesn't even have a cello now (rented and returned). Abnormal child.

sfxmum · 28/11/2011 19:31

tilly I know a lot of people who use Kumon and basically it is repetition, I suppose it has its place but I would resist it too.
have you seen here it has games and a free programme

copper last time it took 3 moths for dh to find work, he is fairly specialised and there is a chance of work but currently people are not employing anyone for longer than 3months renewable contracts

I will be looking for casual work but I have no chance in hell of making anywhere near enough money, and it will take a while to clear paperwork. still I am keen on going back into it. well sort of
