Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Hello!

First after-school club for DS1! Climbed all sorts of things, apparently.

So tired. Perhaps should try going to bed earlier ...

sfxmum · 16/11/2011 17:16

I can highly recommend the Waitrose all butter mince pies yum yum yum
no swimming for dd today, apparently something wrong with the pool, glad they called
essay nearly done just referencing when it is less noisy here

vbus · 16/11/2011 17:54

Sfx - mince pies already Shock I bet they were yummy! I saw BD is out now Wink

Copper - glad after school club was a success

Been swamped here with all manner of things. Fortunately, there is school drinks tonight so I think I've earnt my Wine for today. Hope everyone well Smile

sfxmum · 16/11/2011 18:04

cheers vbus Wine we can go once the whiff of emo hormones has abated a bit Grin

dd will be going to after school club tomorrow, we popped in today to register and it was a job to drag her out again

sfxmum · 17/11/2011 09:55

On way to business start up event so not ready for this sort of thing. Person I was going with backed out at last minute. All vey daunting
Sorry me me stuff hope all well

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/11/2011 10:59

sfx - good luck with event. Got to be done. Prospect of doing is probably worse than actually doing. Hopefully!

Straw poll - do you think some times tables are harder than others? Had long argument with friend yesterday about whether the 7 times table is harder than the others. Hmm Yes, I have arguments like that. Hmm Hmm

Phoned up credit card company yesterday about something. Had to give first two letters of memorable name. Couldn't for the life of me remember that (not the card I usually use online). But somehow got attack of the giggles. Could not stop laughing. Nearly chose "stegosaurus" for new memorable name but came to my senses...

tillyfernackerpants · 17/11/2011 12:13

sfx, hope the event's fun!!

Copper, lol, I always forget my memorable words & dates, such a pain

Am fed up today, seems like everyone I've seen has asked me to organise something - Santa's grotto for the school fair, xmas party for a group of friends - and apparently guilt-tripping is the new way of asking (oh but if you don't do it then we can't have it). Am feeling a bit bah humbug now!!

sfxmum · 17/11/2011 13:44

Hello lots of suits and bright young things celeb entrepreneurs and telly cameras. Wink
Having been to boring talks on financing HMRC VAT and companies house. Also talked to insurance people, they are a bit like estate agents less fragrant.
Waiting for one talk on Shit happens probably useful, could not stomach woman Tory MP
A couple more after this then home and back tomorrow for more Confused

Tilly just say no preserve sanity
Copper I avoid phone chars when I can

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/11/2011 14:00

tilly - just say no. Santa's grotto over-rated. DC never go near one. Den of iniquities where materialism and consumerism reign. Say you disapprove. Grin I promise they will avoid you in future!

sfx - which woman tory MP? Are you on telly?

sfxmum · 17/11/2011 14:02

No plenty more photogenic people around been only to non glam useful stuff. But several telly channels here asking for interviews

vbus · 17/11/2011 14:11

Sfx - sounds v. exciting, hope you're getting lots of useful tips and info

Tilly - If it's too late to back down and say no then I would tell everyone you need help and then delegate, delegate and delegate some more til it's all done

I'm meant to be taking over role of school treasurer but so far previous incumbent seems reluctant to let go of job and I'm in no hurry to take over as have enough on my plate atm, let's see how long I can get away with it Grin

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 17/11/2011 19:38

Sometimes delegation is more trouble than it's worth. If you want something done right etc etc. Grin

I think I'm coming down with something ...

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/11/2011 19:39

DS2 tinkling on the piano with headphones on and scribbled score in front of him. Grin

sfxmum · 17/11/2011 20:21

I am on the PTA but only as general bod
head hurts, ended up listening to a 'famous' person who I had not realised was quite the start until I was queueing to get into the room.
left before James Caan stepped up as the room was bursting, apparently they really like him
the man from HMRC talking about VAT reminded me of professor Binns I nearly fell asleep, standing up

have a lot of ideas and thinking of goals but mostly about doing a training plan for a sub 30 5K and sub 60 10K Grin

delegating yes important and useful but not always possible

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/11/2011 20:46

We don't have a PTA. It is one of the things I like very much about our school. Grin

sfxmum · 18/11/2011 12:21

But copper I have busy body tendencies thinking of becoming a governor in a couple of years
Back at business event got a couple of free pens

vbus · 18/11/2011 14:08

Sfx - LOL at training plan goals Grin stock up on pens, they always come in handy

Our PTA seem to raise crazy amounts of money, I was surprised how much when I looked at their accounts. DS1 loves all the PTA led events and activities. Seems like a good way to promote community spirit too

Delegation, an excellent tool provided you do it effectively Wink

DH taking me out for surprise b'day meal at wkend, it will probably be at the local pub (not complaining though!)

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/11/2011 15:48

We have various pens from various training/expos/campaigns. We have bank pens, "cool milk" pens, hotel pens (though we are running low on these) and many early years training pens (courtesy of MIL). We also have notepads from these places - get notepads, sfx - very useful if you have a house full of budding artists. Once we even had a stress ball. Though it couldn't take the heat and burst. Hmm Grin

Now to cook chocolate brownies with sweet potatoes. Very stubborn things, sweet potatoes. I baked them with my bread yesterday and they are not even cooked. Luckily microwaving works.

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/11/2011 15:50

sfx - I am opposite of busy body and tend to have to stifle tendency to scream when anyone tells me to do anything. Especially things like "you should cycle with your child", "you should walk to school" and other "you should"s. Makes me want to scream.

But many things make me want to scream. I think I'm just tired. Need a holiday. And chocolate brownies.

sfxmum · 18/11/2011 16:01

copper when I say busy body I don't means bossing others around, more like I want to know what is going on and will help when I can
no note pads sadly recession

vbus I hope the meal is yummy and quiet where ever it may be

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/11/2011 16:25

Choc brownies in the oven. Smile

I also want to know but have come to accept that some things are better not known. Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/11/2011 18:02

Choc brownies very very nice. Smile

Also bought Waitrose mince pies, influenced by sfx, and half-price champagne, influenced by TV advert. Getting suggestible in my old age.

sfxmum · 18/11/2011 18:09

very nice copper, however must keep such things from dh he does not approve of assorted vegetables, fruits and tubers in baking, but what he does not know does not hurt him
the mince pies are yummy lovely pastry and fruity

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/11/2011 18:30

sfx - you couldn't really taste the sweet potato. That is helped by the fact that a whole bar of finest Waitrose dark chocolate went into it. Shock It is much better than Hugh F-W's recipe - less sickly sweet and more taste and texture.

Contemplating making banana muffins for breakfast. We have very sorry-looking bananas sitting in the kitchen.

sfxmum · 18/11/2011 18:33

that is another thing copper, dh throws away perfectly good bananas just because the skin is brownShock, have trainer dd to stop him wasting food like that
Grin NO daddy mummy bakes with those

must go and cook dinner husband should be home at around 7 and we should all be eating together for the first time this week
