Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

vbus no I can't remember what I had think a fancy burger? not sure I remember the flat bread with delicious stuff inside, not forgetting the delicious vanilla yoghurt with raspberries

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2012 15:03

slightly burnt smell of popcorn = repellent of cold caller. Grin Didn't even need to say anything - "Oh you are busy I can smell cooking I'll come back later." Grin Grin

Kewcumber · 28/03/2012 16:01

I think the whole target thing is a govt thing not a school thing. Though I suppose that its possible some schools might not share the information with parents - I suspect that they are required to.

Kewcumber · 28/03/2012 16:02

Given the choice I doubt many schools would do SATS, I don't think any did exams prior to the govt requirements to do so- except 11+ when that was still around.

tillyfernackerpants · 28/03/2012 18:02

Ooh, I'm getting a sour dough friendship cake later!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2012 18:19

MIL gave me a cooked one, called Herman, apparently. He was yummy.

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2012 18:22

Does anyone want bay leaves and rosemary?

tillyfernackerpants · 28/03/2012 18:24

Copper, mine's Herman too. I feed & stir it for 10 days, divide it into 4, bake 1 quarter, give 2 to friends & repeat with the 4th one.

Will see how it goes but could be good for the boys to get involved in too!

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/03/2012 18:30

Short-term pet. Grin

sfxmum · 28/03/2012 18:39

reminds me Copper I baked one sourdough bread with Olives which was great but killed the rest Sad will start my own soon

vbus · 28/03/2012 19:06

We buy sourdough each wk for our wkend bread treat. Is it easy to make? never tried it

Thanks Copper but have huge bay tree in garden and rosemary plant so I'm well stocked for that

Off out tonight, feel like cocktails but I'll take it easy or I'll live to regret it tomorrow morning!

Good morning!

Little portable bbq has arrived! BBQ breakfast? Grin Hmm

vbus - sourdough not too difficult. My pure sourdough recipes take a long time, but some mix yeast-sourdough loaves are made the same way as yeast loaves. I do Dan Lepard recipes. They always work. Smile

Made hot cross buns. Yummy.

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/03/2012 10:42

Am trying to freecycle bay leaves. Hmm Some people think I'm giving away bay trees. Hmm Hmm

vbus · 29/03/2012 13:10

Copper - thanks for tip might try making sourdough one day. Buns look lovely!

I made some mediterranean scones at the weekend which were big hit, will be making them again

What another beautiful day Smile Forecast not great for wkend though Hmm

update from last night's meeting
not much in way of fudging, many apologies and promises of action. I asked for a meeting within the 2-3weeks of next term start.
it remains to be seen how it will develop but it was a little tense.
I expect that the dissatisfaction from a few parents might be building pressure
we have a slight disagreement because I feel I should still approach the head and make him aware, I wonder what kind of support, supervision and mentoring these young teachers get

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/03/2012 20:27

Hello!

Last day of school! Yeah! Had ice cream on the way home via park. Watched Megamind in the afternoon. DS1 a bit under the weather though... Hopefully just a cold.

sfx - that's a bit of result. Have you been dissuaded from seeing the head? Could wait for the review before going to see him, I suppose?

sfxmum · 30/03/2012 23:11

hope ds feel ok in the morning

teacher spoke to her today apparently dd told her she was glad to have had the opportunity to discuss this and had wanted to talk about it for some time.
dd is also worrying that despite other girl being 'mean' she worried about hurting her feelings and she also felt that she might be even more alone as she has no other friends Sad

vbus · 31/03/2012 09:40

Sfx - aww, that's so considerate of your DD. Hope now teacher has started talking to her and you then you might get positive response in resolving the situation. Any reason why you can't see the head?

Copper - hope your ds feels better soon. I too am thrilled it's holidays, not so thrilled about homework we've been given over the hols Angry Nice end to the term, ice creams in the park and friend came over. DS1 won raffle prize too!

V.little planned for next few days, may head to library later. Off out for drink with neighbour tonight which should be fun

Good morning!

We have holiday homework too. TBH I'm more bothered about it than the kids. One homework for DS1 is to pick two countries and talk about the weather there and we have somehow got to discussing kamikaze this morning and why it might be considered a sensitive term. Hmm DS2 threw a massive strop on account of not being able to figure out how to draw parallel lines. Hmm There are worse things, I'm sure. Grin

sfx - hopefully things will get sorted now. But I won't hesitate to get hold of the head if things don't move in the right direction at a fair pace ...

sfxmum · 31/03/2012 21:27

no homework here but I imagine dh will have lesson plans ready, he gets competitive, not sure the greatest idea right now

it was really cold out today, and the coming week looks really disappointing, sleet and snow midweek Shock

dh had his graduation ceremony today, there were 2 honorary degrees (?)given, one to the arts journalist the other to the reformer bank robber Bobby Cummines, he got a lot of handshakes, a pinko uni for sure

UptoapointLordCopper · 01/04/2012 12:07

Falling woefully here to light a barbecue. Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 01/04/2012 20:26

No homework for ds1 which is a bit of a Shock, usually they give quite a bit during the holidays. I am thinking I should check with one of the other mums in case ds1 has just left it behind! Otherwise, I will not complain Grin

Sourdough is growing nicely, another 4 days and it will be ready!

Vbus, the next batch I do, do you want some? Or anyone else?

Oh & did anyone see the MN April Fool this morning? Made me lol Grin

sfxmum · 02/04/2012 08:28

It is the flipping holidays so I woke up before 6 because I forgot to reset the alarm and child woke up at 7 because...well because she doesn't have toHmm Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/04/2012 10:10

It is the hols!

We've been swimming already. Now kids are at CM and I shall get on with working. Hmm

vbus · 02/04/2012 13:19

Hello all

Tillly - yes please, thanks Smile I'm going to make hot cross buns today, Mary Berry recipe. I almost fell for April fool, forgot it was April Fools day

Have been planting rocket, radish and will do some more with kids too later they got freebie seeds, carrot and violets

I went to bed at 7pm last night as suddenly had stomach ache and felt tired. I don't know if it's the same bug that never went away or I keep getting new bugs Hmm I am ok again after good night's sleep
