Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Hello!

DS1 did his cello exam today. Went quite well, I think, or so he says. In any case I can breath now. Smile

One more thing off the list....

Parents' evening later too.

Kewcumber · 22/03/2012 18:34

Just checking in from my mums machine as still don't have broadband at home (hopefully tomorrow) and not easy to surf on the phone and 3G reception is rubbish at home.

Happy to do a house-warming night at my house but will hold off until I get broadband. You can all come and laugh at the trains in my garden!

vbus · 23/03/2012 11:02

Kew- hope you're settling in well. Bet DS is loving the trains!

Copper - hope parents evening went well

Sfx/Tilly - film was excellent, go and see it Smile I even saw BD part2 trailer which comes out the day after my birthday, 40th plans sorted then Wink

Tidying house like mad as IL's descend today. Going out for lunch with DS2 as a treat

Kew - let's have a picnic in your garden with the trains!

Boiler service done. Next, garden and teeth.

Parents' evening went well. Agreement on things between us and teachers. Smile Great minds etc etc.

sfxmum · 23/03/2012 18:11

hope everyone managed to enjoy this glorious day, I got so excited I even bought some running shorts Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2012 11:26

Hello!

Lovely day. Smile No plans. Smile Smile

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2012 11:26

Pics please sfx. Grin

sfxmum · 24/03/2012 12:57

like these but purple

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/03/2012 20:52

Pics with you in it, silly.

Anyway shorts look quite nice.

Made pom-poms, and did onion-dyed eggs. Shock Too crafty. Going to watch Montalbano later.

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/03/2012 20:04

Hello!

Hope everyone remembered about the clock. Smile The trick in our house is to know which one clocks adjust themselves and which ones don't ...

Lovely day. Pub lunch. Walk. Now watching Avatar. It's not very good, is it?

sfxmum · 25/03/2012 20:49

I think it is a pointless film without 3D to be honest it distracts from all the silly 'plot'

nice day, child really tired and emotional, missing friend ans thinking 'sad thoughts' made worst for being so tired.

clocks were fine I did warn a couple of people who were unaware

your day sounds nice Copper

Kewcumber · 25/03/2012 22:15

watched some of Avatar though to be fair missed the first hour and have watched with bafflement since.

Is it meant ot be a proper grown-ups film? Confused

Shall I set up a thread for house-warming night at mine (a la vbus - pot luck supper). Would April be a suitable month?

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/03/2012 11:06

Good morning!

Re: Avatar - it will take more than 3D to distract from the silliness. There wasn't a single bit that was unpredictable.

Dentist visit done. Phew!

sfxmum · 26/03/2012 11:12

I always watch James Cameron films for the technical feats, the man is an ass, but he drives quite a lot of things forward in that field. as for story well you know, just look at Titanic apart from the boat sinking no one really cares about the passenger's stories

went for a run this morning it was ok but not great, at least it is making me feel energetic, having a very late breakfast now

KewC that sounds like a plan are you starting a thread for dates?

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/03/2012 11:24

Re: Titanic - you know there is going to be a boat sinking, you see a boat sinking, you are NOT going to say "wow look at that boat sinking. It's so realistic." At least I didn't. I was not impressed. I prefer using special effects to make things up, like LOTR. But not Avatar. Hmm

sfxmum · 26/03/2012 12:40

no I like the boat sinking realistically Grincould do without the leonardo / kate thing going on

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/03/2012 13:10

Agree could do without that leonardo/kate thing. It's painful. The French and Saunders version is better. Grin

More titanic on the telly, it seems. Can't watch any of it.

Kewcumber · 26/03/2012 17:00

re Leo and Kate - I knew they'd lost me when they were in the water and I thought "oh for goodness sake just get on and die"

vbus · 26/03/2012 20:15

Hello all

I think both films are enjoyable as long as you take them for what they are Grin

My dad didn't know about clock change. He only discovered it when he put news on!

Good, busy wkend with IL's. Spent today at Kew, lovely

Can't wait for Easter hols to start. DS1 started asking philosophical q's about Jesus Hmm

seriously in need to stop school, dd has been very stressed and emotional, I am planning on being firm at the parent's evening this Thursday, have discussed with with dh so that we will present one united front, I am a bit too tired of beating about the bush but will have to actually ask for some action under their bullying policy

at least the weather is nice

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/03/2012 21:56

sfx - Sad Is it the same person?

DS2 had a note today about no homework for this week but there will be stuff to do during the hols. Hmm Hmm We have stuff to do during the hols.

I have been trying to tell kids biblical stories - thought I'd be fair, since we've done all kinds of creation myths etc, but these ones are hard-going... We might give up at Abram even before he became Abraham. I'm not going to discuss the sacrifice of Isaac.

Kew - I hope you didn't say that out loud. Grin

Kewcumber · 26/03/2012 22:14

Copper - can't be sure that I didn't say it aloud. Thought the film was watchable but man they did make a meal of dying. If I'd been Winslet I'd have stabbed him after 30 secs of him bobbing around in the water. She'd have got away with it easy.

tillyfernackerpants · 26/03/2012 22:21

Sfx, Sad. I think that's the way to go, if the school aren't stepping in to help off their own back then you need to demand action.

I can honestly say I have never seen the whole of the Titanic film, just bits and pieces which gave me enough of an idea.

Though one holiday in Bulgaria, they had a Titanic bar with cocktails named after the characters & actors. The English translations left a lot to be desired - they had a Keith Winslet cocktail Grin

Kewcumber · 26/03/2012 23:14

Ah yes Keith. HE was pretty good in the film as I recall. Died very quickly indeed - probably why you missed him.

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/03/2012 10:20

Grin at Keith Winslet who died without fuss at the sinking of the Titanic. I did think that Leo would have frozen by the time they've finished their dialogue.

Nice day. Must work, though now that garden looks wonderful I'm tempted to go and do some pruning and planting ... Smile
