We had MIL and her DH and BIL over for lunch yesterday since everyone is busy today. Today DS2 had a birthday party which he enjoyed very much. I quite enjoyed it too - had nice chats with people.

But I'm so over Mother's Day. I'll be grateful if they (whoever they are) will leave me alone for the rest of the year and stop telling me I'm feeding my children too much this or that or I'm wrong to work/not work/take jobs from good hardworking men or I'm too negligent/pushy or too middle class or not middle class enough or whatever.

And if I see or hear another advert from P&G about how they are proud sponsors of mums I'll email them to tell them where they can stick their advert.

Ignore me. I'm a humourless grumpy old person.

just don't watch adverts copper, no idea which one you are on about, I block them online quite effectively as well

as for the other stuff pay no attention you are wrong anyway revel in it

Kids spent whole morning making Beano comics. Now in full silly mode.

Went to Picasso & British Art exhibition. Was good. But could do without Francis Bacon's pictures in my head.

sfx - what did the kids see at the British Museum? I think we are due another trip there, but must plan first. How was dinner out? Saw pic on FB. Very nice.

Wondering what to do with myself this morning whilst ds2 is in nursery. Have to put a wash on, but other than that I'm tempted to just sit on the sofa & catch up with some CSI

copper they are doing the Egyptians so that is where we were, dd wants to go back and see the Jade and all the Chinese room again, like last time, will pop over during Easter hols

tilly is it ds2 first day at nursery? how are you feeling? apart from at a loss

dinner very nice, we had our reception there 10yrs ago and the staff fussed over us in a nice way, gave us some free champers, gave us a handwritten card, said we could go and see whatever we wanted to at the hotel which had memories for us, chatted nicely throughout but not intrusive at all.
we had a quiet nice time, I posted the pic of dd but not of us in the public FB just in one of my groups

sfx, no not his first day! But was teaching last night so didn't really fancy doing much this morning.

But he has been invited to a friend's house after school tomorrow, and the childminder is picking him up so I will be child-free from 8.30am until 2pm

I don't really venture much into the rest of MN these days, saw a bit about the F4J mess but otherwise never really seemed to find the interesting ones so I stopped looking

vbus, when do you find out? I don't think we hear anything until May!

We might check out the Sutton Hoo thing at the BM again. But somehow the Anglo-Saxons don't capture the kids imagination as much as the Romans and Vikings. Perhaps we'll check out the ancient Greek stuff and the Chinese things.

tilly - so what have you been doing?

I tend to check the bilingual thread and the extra-curricular activities thread for stuff about music. They are mostly quite uncontroversial, until somebody talks about the Chinese in a disparaging way. It is very strange. The F4J stuff is quite tedious. Odd people.

We might have a neat and tidy garden next week! Yeah!

Tilly - I think it's either end of this wk or next wk. I'm pretty confident he'll get a place based on sibling rule but just won't know if it's am or pm. I didn't mind last time but this time I want a morning place!

vbus - yes re: gardener. I was talking to someone who was being dismissive about it - reckoned I could do it myself with the kids. Well, we can't, not if we want to do about a million other things we are more interested in.

Saw "travel round ireland with a fridge" the other night. People in there are always calling people eejits. Very funny.

I really need to get going and do something but am finding it hard to organise myself, best get on now

My diary is full for this week and next. It stresses me out. I long for a nice pristine page with no engagements.

Copper - I'm looking forward to relaxing at Easter, life has been good but too hectic. I think you have to value your time vs paying someone else to do the same job, time is definitely a premium!

Tilly - on Lovefilm can you get multiple dvd's at same time or do they only send you one after you've returned another film?
