Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

I just love world book day

DS has informed me that he doesn't look exactly like Johnny Depp aka Willy Wonka. He has grudgingly conceded that I have probably done the best I can with the raw material.

sfx - will look for another cleaner, but one more sympathetic to a house being actually a home rather than object to be cleaned.

World book day t-shirts done and ironed. No need to wash them though, is there? But have to get costume for DS1's assembly. He plays a Celtic chief captured by Romans, though he'd rather play a warrior who is killed so he can play dead . Celtic costume = shirt + belt (according to Asterix which is the definitive text on Celts ). Easy. Especially since he only told me about it this morning.

vbus no issue with towel, hair dye came off very easily although there is still a slight stain in the scalp

Been to gym today, 1st time in 2wks but I was pretty pathetic, felt v.sluggish. I think I still have the last of the Dc's cold. Got tons of pta stuff to do, better get on with it...

I know she's been offered a new non-surgical treatment, TomoTherapyHD. Don't know much about it but I would assume given that its non-surgical that it not hugely advanced. Just so shocked at having to deal with such a thing so young - I know young people have to deal with shitty things all teh time but it seems so unexpected given it is a predominantly older womans disease (by older I include myself in that!)

planning a pyjama day tomorrow it will, apparently be raining heavily and even some snow forecast for the evening, will make chilli or even bake a cake I think

Got The three robbers and moon man and also the world book day dragon book. We didn't get book tokens this year for some reason though.

We have run out of baked goods. Eating shop-bought cookies today. Baking day tomorrow. But what to bake?

dd still refuses to read the books saying they are for boys

Girl character appears in book 2 I think. Author was pestered by her own daughter about lack of female characters. She said she was probably trying to write books that she thought her brother would read. But girl is a most excellent character, if DD can put up with book 1 without her first.

Where do they get all these boy books/toys girl books/toys idea from? Drive me up the wall.

It is most odd but I guess having girls in prominent roles is good, I have a list of books I would like her to read as she grows up and part of the criteria is that they have strong female characters

mind you it only started to be an issue recently

Just finished using the glutinous rice flour and now only have 13 types of flour left in my cupboard. But still haven't figured out what to do with potato flour. Why on earth did I buy that!?
