Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Copper - hope recommendation works out Smile How on earth do you hoover up a compass???! Wouldn't it make a racket or get stuck in pipe? You'll have to get your cleaner investigate hoover next time Grin

DS1 doesn't seem right still but he has no temp or sickness, just looks tired but keeps insisting on going to school Hmm

I am going to be part of Ofsted review later today, I'm curious what we'll discuss

hello all

vbus hope the young man recovers, dd has had a never ending cough, which I now have, it bothers her and does not make for restful sleep.

copper how did the vacuum cope? did you get punctured tubes? Shock

I have been studying all day trying to catch up from the half term week. will be taking dd to pool later via public transport so I really hope the rain eases off.

Also last night it occurred to me that on the 29th it will be 28 yrs since my mother died, I told my running group I would like to do a run in memoriam, and will do a longer distance than I have done so far, as on R4's PM they have been suggesting listeners do something new on that 'extra' day, I have been listening to their stories.
so they all seem to want to do similar on the day and one wants to contact the programme and let them know

Made walnut chocolate torte for no good reason. It's like, totally awesome. Grin

sfxmum · 23/02/2012 09:31

Does it make you go all surfer like? Awesome Grin

vbus · 23/02/2012 11:15

Maybe someone hacked into Copper's id Grin

Sfx - that sounds like a lovely way to honour your mum's memory

Decided to keep DS1 at home today, he is just full of snot and cough (nice)
Thankfully a friend took DS2 out this morning so at least he's had some outing today. It's been nice for DS1 to play with some presents he hadn't played with yet that he got for b'day/xmas

cannot believe it's such a lovely day and I'm stuck indoors

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/02/2012 15:33

it is a bit colder than it looks but it does indeed look lovely, I am coughing too much can really feel the heaviness

went to visit my aunt so was out for a bit, so frustrated at not being able to run but I know running with coughs is a very bad idea indeed

sfxmum · 23/02/2012 15:43

hope he is feeling better soon I meant to add

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2012 18:34

Is anyone looking - Jupiter, Venus and the new moon! So pretty.

sfxmum · 23/02/2012 19:24

Envy

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2012 19:27

We have a special window that does Venus. Smile

tillyfernackerpants · 23/02/2012 20:13

I saw it, just looks amazing

Sfx, hope you feel better

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2012 21:02

World Book day: Dear parents/guardians blah blah blah challenge you to design a t-shirt blah blah blah your favourite author blah blah blah by next week (I hope you haven't got anything important on like earning a living but even if you do you really ought to put your child's education ahead of such triviality) blah blah blah.

Surely they mean the child's favourite author? Hmm DH suggested the Marquis de Sade. Grin

sfxmum · 23/02/2012 21:29

copper Grin can't the kids go as some character?

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2012 21:39

It's not a dressing up thing. You have to design a t-shirt.

One year they had to write their own book. That's a brilliant idea.

sfxmum · 24/02/2012 08:28

but it is the children who have to do it no? wouldn't any old drawing do? Mad people

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2012 09:14

Well, I'm certainly not going to design anything. In fact the kids have already designed their shirts on a piece of paper. And luckily we have spare pe shirts. And friend is coming round this afternoon with fabric pens and her DC so we'll just all do one session altogether. Efficiency is our middle name.

I would like to NOT receive any letter from anybody demanding anything else from me for at least 3 months. But that seems unlikely ...

Also got a letter about sex education. They consulted everybody (pupils, teachers, governors) about the content but not the parents. Hmm Not that I give a damn. Teach them anything. >

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2012 09:15

Will stop thinking now. Otherwise might have to kick somebody.

Kewcumber · 24/02/2012 10:42

So finally exchanged - have somewhere to live - Yay! Moving on March 15th so dinner at mine next night out - though come prepared to cosy up to the trains - am thinking of renaming the house "The Signal Box"

Vbus - can you text me our mutual friends number (or send her mine)

Kewcumber · 24/02/2012 10:43

Have gone wild and replaced my old laptop with a new one (blowing proceeds of house already!) - mind you its a refurb so still an accountant at heart.

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2012 12:29

Well done Kew! Smile

vbus · 24/02/2012 14:05

Kewc - congratulations! Will text no. now before I forget again Blush

Sfx - hope you're feeling better. I hate missing exercise too

Copper - Grin good luck for art project. I'm sure we have something like that coming up Hmm

I have DS1 at home again, he is getting better but thought he might as well have a few days proper rest otherwise these things never fully go away. Nice to be at home and spend time with him doing stuff but now I'm getting bored!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/02/2012 15:39

Excellent news KewC apt name

copper ours will be studying reproduction later in the year so expect some sort of sex education will be involved
I heard that the Sex Ed at school is done via a dvd that the teacher shows then she answers some questions but not all some she sends home, frankly I think this is a very bad idea indeed, not that they should not be taught but rather that it should not be done by their teachers

vbus shame about ds1 hope the weekend helps with recovery
I am fine apart from dazed from lack of sleep due to coughing fits, first dd's for weeks now mine, blardy PIA

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/02/2012 09:42

Good morning!

Plan: haircut.
Execution: uncertain.

We have done our t-shirts. Did have to make DS2 black out potentially offensive terms. Shock Shock But we did leave in the poo. (A depiction, note, not actual poo. That's way too modern-art for us. And smelly.)

Re: sex education or strange things they teach them in school (eg: "if you've got a computer you've got Microsoft Word") I tend to take the "that's what some people think" approach. Never take school too seriously. It's an institution. We are individuals. It's nice to find out what everyone thinks but one has to make one's own decisions about what to think. That's how I survived school and it's the best way as far as I'm concerned. Grin

A bit too serious for Saturday morning. We've had our belated pancakes. Now contemplating lunch. Grin

sfxmum · 25/02/2012 10:17

here mostly coughing all night and my sides and chest hurt not much coughing now, taking girl out and about to assorted activities
then plan on just crashing

good luck with haircut copper
