Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Congratulations Kew!! And nah to the namechange, its who you are now Grin

sfxmum · 18/01/2012 09:44

No name change Kew to confusing can't quite cope with too much of that? How are things progressing at the other end?

tilly what is up? All ok?

Busy time trying to fit in exercise, course work which is much more intensive now, job search and dh getting in the way Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/01/2012 10:07

Hello!

Just been out for cups of tea. Now to work. Meanwhile will try not to throw out all the kids toys that get in the way... Suppress your inner minimalist.

tillyfernackerpants · 18/01/2012 12:58

Sfx, everything fine, am busy teaching which is great but the amount of preparation needed beforehand doesn't seemed to have lessened. And both boys keep waking up lots in the night for some reason or other.

Looking forward to the night out anyway!

vbus · 18/01/2012 16:07

Kew - congrats, v. exciting news Smile

Tiilly - nice to see you both earlier, DS2 loved the footy kept talking about it on way home!

Sfx - good luck with all the plate spinning, can't be easy. check your email Smile

Copper - here they've just teamed up with Hugh to do this on tv, hope they fare better next week

Hello!

Kew - when are you moving?

Just got sucked into reading the Gove-extend-school-hours thread. Hmm When would one have time to go visit friends or sit in a cafe or go shopping or watch Deadly 60 then? They haven't thought this one out, have they? Grin

sfxmum · 19/01/2012 22:13

Gove makes me feel ill, blardy signed Bibles by him why? give the Bible if you must but signed by Gove?! eejit

want to go to bed to avoid studying any more, tired now.
hope everyone is well

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 07:30

Good morning!

Kids doing last minute homework. DS1 has written a 4-page story. Hmm Poor teacher, having to read through that.

Gove is an idiot. It scares me that someone should make policies based on personal experience or anecdotal evidence. Man also cannot seem to tell between "despite" and "because of". He should get some education. So tedious. Thought for the day: many people are tedious. some are more tedious than others, and some strive to make other people's lives tedious.

Now shall try to cheer up. Grin

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 12:27

I must repeat to myself, do not go to coffee mornings, do not got to coffee mornings

anyway must study, cold out

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 12:30

sfx - is it because you get inundated with sensible ideas that allay your fears at coffee mornings? Grin

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 12:42

Christ I am not built fore that kind of thing, I get that my poor child misses out on stuff because am so odd but I cannot bear it at all.
There is a drinks evening next week which I am not attending enough of this, daughter will have to put up with outcast status, I just have to stop feeling guilty about it

Kewcumber · 20/01/2012 19:26

I doubt that your child misses out because you don;t so coffee mornings! I don't think DS gains because I do!

Anyway you put on a good facade if you don't like them, its not easy to spot.

I don;t do drinks evenings - coffee and cake an hour is one thing a whole evening out is quite another and not one I would use up scarce babysitting favours on.

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 19:43

KewC you weren't there for the initial convo on secondary schools I struggle a lot with that

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 21:01

I agree with Kew re: child missing out.

Do know what you mean though. Some people get together and try to scare themselves. In the absence of creative ghost stories they make up less creative things like secondary schools. Ignore.

Free tips:

1.Never worry about things until you have to.

2.When it's time to worry just do something about it rather than forming some ad hoc committee going round in circles scaring yourself.

Grin
sfxmum · 20/01/2012 21:07

that wasn't the reason, no scare stories just blatant hypocrisy

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 21:07

cake was good and so was the coffee

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 21:34

Behind all that lies fear. Wink

Next time go eat cake with ear plugs.

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 22:02

anyway dd and dh will go on a mission to find me birthday presents tomorrow morning, he is also taking her to music class which leaves me free to do my longer run this week, hopefully easy 6 miles and then some study

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 22:03

Bit fed up - lots of things at work this year seems to be a conspiracy against part-timers. Angry

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 22:17

so you are not taking this career development thing seriously enough?

I need a job I need an interview and paperwork sorted quickly I hope by the end of the month to have something on the way

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 22:21

Not too bothered about "career development". Quite like just plodding along. "Consolidating", as they say. I do my job. Quite well. I just don't want to do more, and I certainly don't want to do what I don't want to do, IYKWIM.

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2012 22:23

I want to play my piano, read my books, cook stuff, learn to play go. I don't want to work work work work work. Is that so strange?

sfxmum · 20/01/2012 22:29

no that is fine Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/01/2012 20:55

Hello!

CNY eve dinner done. Grin But compulsion to cook not quite sated. Want to do pineapple tarts. We always have this for CNY. May skive off some point next week to do it.

DS2 has new tooth pushing out wobbly tooth that hasn't fallen off - just noticed. What to do? Dentist appointment, I suppose.
