Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Good morning!

Brought Chinese sweets (ie sweets wrapped in red paper with Chinese writing on) to school to be distributed. We seem to be the only Chinese people in school. Hmm

Work now, I suppose, rather than speculating on what to bake/cook next...

sfxmum · 23/01/2012 10:54

hello all, feeling the pressure now of all the stuff going on, blardly joblessness , blardly CRBs that are too twisted and not very helpful

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2012 11:18

Vent away SFX. Then make lists. Remember?

I need to make some lists. (DS1 was given a memo box for his birthday. Grin I shall be using it.)

tillyfernackerpants · 23/01/2012 12:01

I like lists, they give me a sense of order. Unfortunately, I seem to spend more time adding to the lists than I do actually trying to tick things off Grin

sfxmum · 23/01/2012 12:09

oh yes the love of lists runs deep in this family, dd has a diary and assorted notebooks for her assorted interests
need to update Linked in profile and sent CV to a couple of agencies, trouble is deciding what grade to apply for, I am sort of happy just doing entry level work or some short term lower management on but not sure I can be arsed with the extra responsibility, extra money not withstanding

choices choices might talk to mate who runs an agency although I would rather not work for him, feels like some sort of nepotism

sfxmum · 23/01/2012 12:10

I have noticed also that the lingo has changed, trust health and social care and their love of labels

vbus · 23/01/2012 12:56

Hello all
Hope everyone had a nice wkend

Sfx- this is what I'm dreading when I eventually return back to work, I think I will feel so out of the loop after being out of work for so long. Good luck though with all your applications

Copper - enjoy the feast and celebrations!

Tilly - too true Grin still lists are a good motivator

Had IL's over at wkend whcihw as good, funny to think the next time we see them they'll have moved back to the Uk for good. We enjoyed their shorter visit although I was still exhausted by the time they left last night

vbus · 23/01/2012 12:57

oops sorry for typos, too much rushing around Blush

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2012 13:04

sfx - I'd say nepotism is a good stepping stone. Grin >

sfxmum · 23/01/2012 16:14

it may come to that Copper and he owes me a few favours

vbus did not realise that was happening, is that the end of French holidays?

vbus · 23/01/2012 18:20

Sfx - as long as you get your foot in the door...go for it! Yes, sadly it means no more holiday home in France, but it also does mean we will now have 'genuine' holiday destinations rather than just going away to stay at theirs

Morning all!
Perfect weather to stay at home as DD1 had some ear pain yesterday...
Talking about job search - i found couple interesting offers, went to an interview and decided not work Grin I just cant imagine that i have to leave 7 in the morning and come back 7 at night...Unfortunately there is no part time positions for what i am into. I hope, i will be back to studies in September :)
Then we might go back to Denmark next summer...
But best of a luck Sfx, just put yourself in a positive thinking and soon the dark cloud will go away :)

sfxmum · 24/01/2012 10:37

thanks island will aim for the cheery everyday Grin
-and everyone who knows me goes Hmm
hope dd1 is ok soon, that is a recurring problems isn't it?

vbus thanks for company yesterday, enjoyed it a lot although I nearly fell asleep once I sat down, but soon perked up, I am looking at the soundtrack gorgeous music

vbus · 24/01/2012 10:53

Sfx - thanks for the outing Smile, I am still thinking about the film, very haunting. Agreed, music was great too

Island - hope your dd1 feels better soon. I've been thinking about work lately too, I'm not planning on going back just yet as DS2 still young but I'm starting to pysche myself up and start thinking about potential roles Hmm The thought of being out of the house all day is not appealing to me either but ideally hope to get something part time then Dh could take on a less demanding job and we might actually see a bit more of him

hello!
hope you're all well
sorry haven't been on much but it's this bloody life business, innit.
oh yes, the tyranny of the ever-expanding to-do(n't) list.
sometimes i write a retrospective list of what i've already done just so i can ticks things off. Sad.
Right, never going to get tax return ticked off list at this rate, eh?!
kew - nice to see you. no need to hang out at my next door neighbour's in te hope of seeing me Wink Grin
look forward to seeing you all on 4th.
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 24/01/2012 12:16

what fillum, sfz and vbus? saw the artist last week. v.good.

stepfordwife · 24/01/2012 12:17

oops sfx

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/01/2012 16:29

"sometimes i write a retrospective list of what i've already done just so i can ticks things off. Sad."

I do that sometimes too. Blush Just to assure myself I have achieved something.

stepfordwife · 24/01/2012 16:36

ah see, copper, deranged great minds think alike Grin

stepfordwife · 25/01/2012 16:37

Bleedin' 'eck....you see this is why I seldom post these days..I've killed the thread Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2012 17:17

No you haven't!

Baked tapioca coconut cookies. Might freeze some to bring on 4/2. Going to bake pineapple tarts tomorrow. Now mackerel and chips and swede-and-carrot-mash for tea.

Kora · 25/01/2012 19:36

Wave to everyone!! Hope you're all well! Cooking sounds lovely Copper. Good luck with job-hunting Sfx and Vbus and anyone else contemplating return to it...

Speaking of which, I've just been back at work for a week after extended hols, and realised must sleep more. Takes me too long to unwind after work and putting dds to bed, stay up TV/reading too long. But paying for it feeling exhausted all the time! Hmmm, cocoa and slippers are to be my fate maybe. Thank goodness for our night out soon!

What do people think of the oscars list? There were a few movies I hadn't really heard of! The descendants? Losing touch. Where are those slippers again Grin

vbus · 25/01/2012 19:48

Kora - LOL, hope you enjoyed your time off work. I've come to the conclusion I'm permanently tired, just have varying degrees of it Grin The Descendants trailer was on the other night at cinema, I have to say I would like to watch it but didn't realise it was such a high profile film til I saw it was nominatedHmm

Steppie - glad you can make it on 4th will be fab to see you after sooooo long. We watched Shame (obviously not for the eye candy)

Copper - more goodies to look fwd to, yum. I made yogurt cake at wkend, it was a big hit, will defo make that again, so easy

Had such a hectic but good few days, think I'll treat myself to some Wine soon

OP posts:
sfxmum · 25/01/2012 21:05

Kora this is what I think of the Oscar nominations really, it is all pretty random safe and worst of all revisionist like in The Help, George Clooney is deeply annoying very rarely do I watch his films these days, he can be good but frankly it is just George

Glad you got some rest and i hope you feel better in the coming years, but I think the girls getting older helps a bit

VBus yoghurt cake sound yummy as do Coppers treats

regarding work I found a job I would love to do and for which I am qualified but it is full time and includes a commute to Spelthorne or Guilford and I am not sure that would be workable. It would depend on the money but in my field I would be lucky to get 21-23k for a heavy week with a big case load. dh on the other hand when there is work it makes a big difference and there is dd to consider
anyway ranting now

BBC visit today was quite nice the children were playing it cool saying they were too grown up for CBeebies but when they went into the set they glowed and starting playing Sid and Andy Grin

and vbus still thinking of the film, and was most surprised by Carey Mulligan not Keira pouting Knightley

sfxmum · 25/01/2012 21:24

vbus have you seen the email from CampB? Morris Dancers Grin
