Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Excellent idea.

tillyfernackerpants · 07/01/2012 19:21

Hi all, just popping in quickly in between spring cleaning. Early I know but our clutter has clutter Grin

Kew, good luck with the house hunting! Have put my name down for the night out

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/01/2012 19:30

Hello!

I have been taking out bags and bags of stuff to donate/throw away/recycle too... Must be the time of the year...

islandhaze · 07/01/2012 19:49

Hello all!
Came here to wish everybody good, calm and healthy New Year!

Last three weeks was an absolute chaos, as some of our friends from Denmark and USA decided to make a surprise for us, and came all together to celebrate Christmas and NY...last party left two days ago, and i am very happy to have just 4 of us home. Love my friends, feel honored that they came...but i hope next time they dont come all at once :)

I would love to come to the big Bday party, if everyone is invited Blush

sfxmum · 07/01/2012 20:47

it is not a party island just an excuse to go out and mock the old girls Grin

I need to clean up and throw out too
and please let dh get a job soon otherwise I might throttle him, the grumpy git, in the nicest possible way of course

sfxmum · 07/01/2012 20:48

and off course it would be nice if I get a job soonish too

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/01/2012 13:06

Hello!

Will look at Big Birthday Party thread later... going out for coffee-and-cake at friends'. Smile

vbus · 08/01/2012 20:29

Hello

Copper - hope you enjoyed outing & cake

island - always lovely to have vistors but I do think it's quite nice when they leave Grin although the house then feels too quiet

Sfx - good luck with jobs, hopefully new year might bring some new prospects

Tilly - been decluttering too, where does it all come from Hmm?

Had a lovely wkend, nice to see friends, done lots of baking and I feel like I am starting to properly relax now. V. proud of DS1. I've been waiting for him to ask to take off his stabilisers off his bike, and he did do just before xmas. So yesterday we took them off and he was able to ride on his own, he seemed to pick it up quicker than I thought Smile Bit more practice and he'll probably feel more confident on the streets

off to check out party thread....

Good morning!

Panicking slightly - DS1 and his friend's birthday this week, present for friend not bought, present for DS1 not wrapped, no cupcake tins, no cupcakes, no list. And lots of work.

Now to make lists.

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 08:51

Steady on copper list will get it sorted what did you do to your cupcake tins? Did I tell you I got the new Dan Lepard for Christmas? As far as I can see it had a few recipes he has published before in his column as well as loads of advice on baking

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 08:52

Meant to say vbus the bike skills they do pick up quick and then scare the hell out if us on a regular basis, many a hard workout I have had chasing after her Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/01/2012 10:06

On Job #1 now.

sfx - Have always borrowed cupcake tins for mass baking but I think I should buy some this time. Will do a trip to Tesco or some such place. Do you recommend that Dan Lepard book? I probably have most of the recipes in my folder of newspaper-cuttings-of-potentially-interesting-recipes.

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 10:35

copper to be fair to the book I only had a quick browse so hard to say just yet, lots of talk on particular baking, bread/pastry/cakes etc
have been busy with study and home stuff but will look more carefully.

and get thee to the party thread, also Indy said she would like to join us at some point so will text her too

vbus · 09/01/2012 13:35

Copper- good luck with your mission. Tesco will be fine, if you think you'll use tins a lot worth paying a bit more for them more likely to last. Silicone stuff is brill.

Sfx - will be nice to see Indy. Agreed, this is where I get my daily exercise, me chasing them bombing around on their scooters Grin

I'm loving having an oven again. Baked homemade cheese and ham rolls yesterday, just had last one with soup for lunch, yum. Will make sesame rolls next wkend

Went to get prescription but stupidly agreed to see nurse - then have to wait two days to collect prescription. WTF is this all about? > Angry

Bought cake tin from pound shop to assuage rage.

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 16:22

so you just want to take the drugs and run Grin

sore tummy today running out the window needed to stay close to home for most of the day, yuck, blardy starving

have been studying and it really feels like proper module now, loads of reading and stuff. also in between doing tidy up going through drawers and so on with the help of Murakami, there was a free audio book in the Guardian this Saturday and I got 1Q84 fabulous so far

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/01/2012 17:20

sfx - I've got the books, but not started yet.

It seems ridiculous to make two trips for one prescription. What is wrong with these people? Apart from gross incompetence?

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 22:52

got in touch with Indy she might come along too

Camb79 · 10/01/2012 04:32

Hi everyone,

We are going to be moving to Richmond in late February and would love to meet up with other mothers of little kids. We have a seven month old, and are really looking forward to the move.

Already checked out the coffee and cakes at the Richmond hill bakery when we were flathunting and was pretty smitten - I love cafes so Richmond seems a pretty good place to be! Any favourites?

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/01/2012 07:48

I have just booked something to be delivered to Logdon. I am officially an idiot.

Hello Camb79! I don't live in Richmond but apart from Starbucks all cafes are my favourite. Grin

sfxmum · 10/01/2012 10:25

copper where is Logdon? Grin

Camb hi, I am very fond of Danieli good coffee exceptional ice cream but very tiny place. Richmond is full of coffee shops just a matter of finding what suits you.

Camb79 · 10/01/2012 12:46

Also meant to say, I'm very intrigued by all the Murakami chat - is the new book good? I liked the wind up bird chronicle but I've not been able to get into the rest, so I stayed away from the new one. I'm reading Jeffrey Eugenides' new one right now.

Thanks for the hello's SFX and LordCooper. What's the Teabox like?

What do you all do with your little ones apart from the park?

sfxmum · 10/01/2012 13:02

Camb I got the Eugenides for Christmas, looking forward to reading it too.

I have never actually been to the Teabox, I am in Kew, my dd is 6 and half (very important that bit) when she was pre school we went to a few classes and baby/ toddler groups, one at the Rugby ground, pools in the park and the best part of those years were spent at Kew Gardens, come rain or come sun, blessed sanity preserving Kew Menbership

sfxmum · 10/01/2012 13:03

Murakami so far intriguing, only chapter 8, but am hooked, have read a few of his, loved his book on running very enjoyable

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/01/2012 14:40

I really like the wind-up bird chronicle. Don't understand a single bit of it, but really really like it. Grin Also like South of the Border, West of the Sun - what a great title! - and Norwegian Wood. And the other weird ones too, but less easy to distinguish one from the other... Will start on the latest one when I finish my current obsession.

Bought another two bun tins from Tesco. Now I can bake 48 cupcakes at a go. Grin
