Hello

Just popping in and saw thread already full up! The craziness of November is well and truly under way. Sorry I'm behind on your news, hope everyone is well.

The scarf video, I thought she was going to hang herself for the final tie Grin

Still undecided about floor, have got loads of samples ordered. I want a fresh, modern look whereas Dh wants more clinical, utlitarian (sp?) look, need to find something that we both like Hmm

Seemed to have packed everything apart from toothpaste. Too efficient. Worried there is something crucial I've missed ...

sfxmum · 08/12/2011 15:26

your list woman your list
Grin have a safe journey

I am stick here have baked cookies for tomorrows fair, might bake a cake but can't be arsed really, I hate being indoors all day unless I am ill.

dd dropped off and picked up by friend

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/12/2011 15:53

But what if something is missing from the list!? Confused

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/12/2011 16:19

Had to get out of the way while window salesman told DH about what you could do with the window when you wife is cooking. Angry Grin

sfxmum · 08/12/2011 16:27

copper you downtrodden housewife!

tillyferTINSELpants · 08/12/2011 16:46

Copper, where are you off too??

Sfx, glad things seem to be resolved with dd's friend

Vbus, thanks for coming today, hoped ds2 enjoyed himself

Am exhausted after ds2's birthday party today, even though it was surprisingly civilised for a group of 3-4 year olds. Am being lazy & giving the dses the rest of the party food for tea Blush

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/12/2011 17:00

tilly - to see family.

I hate casually sexist people. In fact I hate sexist people, whether they do it casually or not. I am "equal opportunity".

vbus · 08/12/2011 18:21

Hello

Copper - have a fab trip! I always say as long as you have passport, money, tickets, and keys you 'll be fine. I'm sure you can buy/do without anything you've forgotten

Tilly - thanks for a lovely afternoon, very civilised, DS2 enjoyed it and was singing 'Twinkle twinkle chocolate stars' all the way home Grin

Sfx - hope friendship is back to 'normal' now, tricky situation. Just go with your gut instinct on whether or not to interfere

Kora - great film isn't it?!

Another bonkers week chez moi, will be so pleased when DH back from trip tomorrow. Have IL's visiting too along with Christmas fair, my 1st engagement in treasurer capacity

Copper re differences between girls and boys. DS looked at the girls in the playground at drop off last week and said to me in a very puzzled voice "why do girls scream?"

He got me there, no idea - and they were.

Kewcumber · 08/12/2011 20:28

hey vbus what was the decision on the kitchen floor (grey utilitarian vs wood/laminate)?

Kewcumber · 09/12/2011 20:36

christmas fair tonight (wheres the [lies down on floor in darkened room] emoticon when you need it?)

Feet hurt and haven't stopped all day (for two days) - I liked working better it was more relaxing.

On teh upside my cakes sold quickly - good old chocolate cupcakes and new concoction ginger cake with honey buttercream. Will make it again it was nice.

sfxmum · 09/12/2011 21:10

it was fun, not that I saw any of it, was stuck behind a stall all evening and I sold the winning ticket Grin

Wine x3

sfxmum · 09/12/2011 21:11

Kewcumber · 09/12/2011 23:20

Kewcumber · 09/12/2011 23:20

sfxmum · 09/12/2011 23:24

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/12/2011 14:22

Hello! Checking in from half way across the world. Xmas Smile After shocker of 8-hour flight delay, things have been going OK (so far). Nice food, warm sea, and already bought about 30 books. More book-buying tomorrow, hopefully. Xmas Grin Hope everyone is well!

sfxmum · 12/12/2011 15:49

hello copper you are already sounding relaxed Xmas Wink

here cold and everyone seems to have a cold or a cough at the very least, cheers

Kewcumber · 14/12/2011 10:37

nativity play this morning (blub)

sfxmum · 14/12/2011 11:23

It was lovely Smile now visiting auntie for her birthday. Christmas starts here

Kora · 16/12/2011 11:28

Wave to Copper on her hols! Hope you're having a great time.

This time last Fri was feeling awful with mysterious stomach bug (long boring story) compounded by restrained panic at very busy week ahead, but I'm nearly at end of it... I just need to survive next few hours then it's weekend!

Went to DD1's nativity play this morning. Love her school, the teachers wrote a really sweet play involving everyone and the children had a great time. Not much actual schoolwork going on yet, but I keep repeating the mantra, "she's only four!" to myself. It's all good. Tonight we're starting Paddington as bedtime story, can't wait (it was my book as a kid and still has my name inside it!). DD1 is always amazed that I was once a little girl...

Hmm, back to work. Counting down the hours to weekend. Then one more week, then HOLIDAY!!! Ahem, regaining composure...

sfxmum · 16/12/2011 13:37

hello

it was dh's turn to watch the nativity today, good job too as it is my turn to have a nasty cold, can't hear properly

spending time studying and sorting out a CV, have never really had one of those Hmm

Kora they will learn it is interesting how different it is from my day but I am old, still they learn. obviously not the same as a private school but you know as state school go it is not bad

Kewcumber · 16/12/2011 13:44

Kora you will look back at the end of this year and be amazed how much she has learnt. It will ramp up after Jan anyway as she will be in school full time and there is more time but don;t be in too big a hurry - in most countries she would still be in kindergarten - as well you know - so get a grip woman!

Kora · 16/12/2011 15:10

I know, I know, I've calmed down honest Xmas Grin. I think I'm going to end up applauding their method as DD1's started writing stuff of her own accord at home, when she's drawing etc, and she's really curious about words in books when we're reading. The best thing is that because the school's emphasis is on fun and meaning, she's interested in following the flow of a story so she's started to guess the next word by mixing what the first sound is plus the context - which is great, as she's enjoying reading for it's own sake not as a chore, as it should be. So, although it's all very different from my Peter and Jane days, I'm becoming a convert! Xmas Smile Thank goodness for DD2's sake that I should have got all the fretting out of my system by then...

Kora · 16/12/2011 16:51

p.s. Get well soon sfx! Hope you can put your feet up at some point.
