sfx - you can have our back garden, and possible spill-over at green next door or park at the end of road. Wink But why not in a park? (If it doesn't rain.) Or snakes and ladders? Or wacky warehouse. Or some such ...

sfxmum · 18/05/2011 21:04

with 2 weeks notice? plus all the school friends are local I expect parents will not be keen to go far

and thanks for Garden offer, I really don't like parties, would be happy taking 3/4 girls out somewhere but prep venue etc plus family get together it is all too much

Thereby lies the cunning, you see. Have party in our back garden, no one will want to come to the sticks, so we can sit around and eat and drink like normal. See? Grin

sfxmum · 18/05/2011 21:16

I like it I like it Grin

And I won't even charge you if you bring nice portugese egg tarts.

sfxmum · 18/05/2011 21:33

for a child's party NOOOO the would not appreciate it

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2011 07:44

Not for them, of course. Wink

Breakfast done. Rhapsody in Blue on. Kids playing mad chess. Now to make sandwiches. Eventually...

vbus · 19/05/2011 13:17

'mad chess' - is this like normal chess but played by kids?

Sfx - sympathies have to organise party in no time Shock. What about doing a picnic at Kew? Most poeple I guess have membership and in any case maybe some won't be around if it's half term week....

Ds1 is really tired today. He had a friend over after school yesterday but the mum didn't turn up til 6.45pm to collect him, eek. I quickly bundled both boys into bed after they left

sfxmum · 19/05/2011 14:41

hello

so much harder to revise when the sun is shining

vbus still found nothing I asked if she wanted a few of her friends to go to a restaurant with a cake but she is not keen, the problem with Kew is that most parents would leave the children and I don't handling a bunch of them in an open space, dh does not really know all of them
but it might end up being that

I should have booked something let her complain them watch her enjoy it on the day

copper can't play chess, mad or otherwise

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/05/2011 14:41

vbus Shock at late pick up, did she warn you?

OP posts:
vbus · 19/05/2011 14:47

Totally understand not wanting to look after load of kids in public space. Too late to book something at sports centre?

The mum said she couldn't get to mine until 6pm which would've been fine but for some reason she turned up really late, timekeeping not her strong point Hmm

I love chess but hardly ever play these days, I'm keen for DS1 to learn

Almost time to go

sfxmum · 19/05/2011 15:06

I found a venue but it is for the 11th 4.30-6 I hope she goes for it, along with special day with mum&dad plus a home party when my family come over should make her happy (?)
it is dance party with dance instructors etc

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2011 20:49

Hello!

Mad chess: one of the variations on: "chess bowling" - roll ball at chessmen lined up, or have one side which are the baddies Hmm, or hang magnetic chess pieces upside down on suspended board, or have chess pieces climbing up music stand while giggling madly Hmm. ETC.

vbus - am also keen that DC should move on from mad chess to proper chess. Though did you see the episode of Outnumbered where Ben played chess? Made me laugh.

sfx -glad birthday sorted. I agree - do not have large group of kids in open space without parents! Do people actually ask you whether you want them to stay or whether they can get you to look after their kids or do they just drop and run!?

Am starting to get a bit tired of people assuming boys will be thugs and will gang up to bully girls. Angry

sfxmum · 19/05/2011 21:04

got a better venue and date, it is a relief

OP posts:
vbus · 19/05/2011 22:31

Copper - mad chess does sound truly mad Grin never watched outnumbered. I just think DS1 would like it, might start him on it over the summer hols and see if he's interested

Sfx - glad party all sorted, panic over, you can get back to your studies now Wink

Neighbour came over tonight to keep me company, really nice to have a catch up

Guess what....?????

I have 2 more freebie cinema tickets to see X-men 31st May 6.30pm Kingston, anyone want to come with me? Smile 1st come 1st served

sfxmum · 19/05/2011 22:40

X-men James mcvoy, michael fassbender, would love it just not sure I can yet.
Vbus take it not crazy one?

Copper outnumbered can be very funny don't thinking I watched the chess one, love the wedding and the episodes with the aunt

OP posts:
vbus · 19/05/2011 22:47

"blecks"?

SFX you can 'ave 'er back now - did you see that when she disembarked she was dressed as Aer Lingus Cabin Crew? Wink

Weather hear mediocre

Sometimes parents behavior at school gates is morte befitting of a school playground Hmm

That books looks fascinating, must investigate

I recently read Rosemary Luptons "Sisters" and loved it

dustythedolphin · 20/05/2011 00:01

sfxmum · 20/05/2011 10:58

Quarter of way through exam marking... Getting achy head and shoulders. (Not quite shampoo advert ... Grin)

vbus · 20/05/2011 13:07

Hello Dusty Smile

Sfx - which tickets did you want? Still no luck for Kooks, can't believe how much they're going for Hmm
Deffo not crazy one, the days of inviting her round are long goneGrin

Copper - good luck with your marking

Didn't sleep v. well last night, kept hearing the foxes schreeching and rummaging through the rubbish, then had weird train dream, DS2 woke up at some point too. Early night tonight I think

sfxmum · 20/05/2011 13:23

vbus Bon Iver 24/10
sleep was an issue here but not as bad, dd has a cold and loud sniffles keep me awake then she got up at crack of dawn (6.30) and got into our bed kept chatting and puling my eyelids up, on the upside she also kept telling me how beautiful I amHmm Grin

copper good luck I hear marking is tedious

proud of self regarding party managed to book and get invites today, the school one are in school bags already, also means I have not yet revised at all today, best get offline then
