thought I would start a new one

hello people

a bit of a morning dilemma, we have tickets for tonight and now dd is saying she does not want the arranged babysitters, the reasons for it seem to be 'they are not you mummy' and 'they are too loud'Hmm
it is not like I would enjoy show knowing she will not be happy
she said similar last time in the morning and was fine about it come evening and was trying to get me to agree to sleep over
I am just not sure

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 13/05/2011 10:01

sfx - we don't go out much but the few times we did there were protests of "we'd rather have so-and-so to babysit" and depending on who they demanded the response would be "so-and-so is busy too" or "next time we'll get so-and-so" or "in fact we are going out with so-and-so". Usually they accept the reasons, with promise that we'll look in when we come back (Hmm as if we won't!?) But don't know what your DD would buy ...

sfxmum · 13/05/2011 10:09

Copper thanks, yes I know, I just hate the negotiation I know she is safe, well cared for although in a different way than we would do it.
I feel better when it is one of my sister or niece they have a particular fun kind of rapport
sunny day looking much better than expected off to hairdressers later

in laws were funny, I think they miss seeing dd, and were trying to work a way of including a meet up before Christmas, they both think it is not enough just twice a year

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 13/05/2011 10:38

Twice a year probably not enough, if you like the people. Smile Some of my ILs have disappeared - newer and nearer toy to play with now.

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/05/2011 18:45

Four boys and one girl in the house for the afternoon! Shock All happily fed sausages and ice lollies. Now only 2 boys left and they are tidying up while I MN. Smile

sfxmum · 14/05/2011 00:37

the girl who did not want the babysitting is having a sleepover at babysitters placeShock
well she usually goes there until bedtime but asked me to stay overnight I am slightly in shock and feel weird

about Kew I don't think I will manage to go there this weekend unless I decide to go by myself ,dd has her riding which takes up the afternoon

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 14/05/2011 13:22

Been to football this morning. DS2 lasted 5 minutes. Grin

Toad-in-the-hole in the oven, from yesterday's leftover sausages.

sfxmum · 14/05/2011 16:19

we went to Richmond Green for the fair, felt like a village, but the weather wasn't helping
we are all tired now just watching telly and reading, early dinner and bed I think

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 14/05/2011 16:57

Everyone gone to a party. Home alone! What to do?

sfxmum · 14/05/2011 18:01

copper enjoy my child free time is tomorrow and I shall go running and hopefully sit in silence afterwards

forgot to add celeb spotting from yesterday Gillian Anderson was sitting in front of as and I could hear several people saying 'look thee is Scully, poor woman Grin

OP posts:
vbus · 14/05/2011 19:29

Sfx - LOL, she have that tag forever! How was the talk?

Copper -hope you enjoyed free time

Dh took boys to football before flight in afternoon. I took boys for haircuts and library. Going to chill and watch a film now. Party was good fun last night but didn't get in til 1.30am Shock

Might still go to Kew tomorrow, will just see how we feel in the morning

sfxmum · 15/05/2011 15:53

hello, lovely quiet day for me

vbus did they enjoy the football? I asked dd if she wanted to go she firmly said no, but I guess we might sometime, both Brentford and QPR have community programmes with cheaper tickets.
regarding the talk, sadly we did not go, dd was exhausted from the very exciting sleep over, I was told she fell asleep well after 9 and was awake shortly after 6amShock do after music and a twirl around the fair she was beat

anyway with all the awesome gig excitement I nearly forgot my my early trauma, let me share

so I took my local bus to Richmond, few stops down a bunch of kids try to get in, bus driver said no (all justifiable) he was firm and civil, kids swearing and shouting awful abuse
as bus was pulling away from stop we hear a couple of pops and 2 big windows shatter, it took a couple more stops for the driver to notice, passenger (3of us) told him.

he stopped the bus, called control, they asked how he and the passengers were, asked for descriptions of kids, told him to stay there until police arrive.
we left the bus commiserating with poor driver

we chat and a less than a minute later another bus arrives at stop, we get in, one of the women with me noticed the kids inside, and told them she recognised them and that the police would soon deal with them

  • response I don't care they cant touch me

bus does not move 2 policemen on bikes come along block exits, well I was late I told them I was leaving and left along with one other person from earlier bus, we told them it was one of them but could not say which
as I was doing that a police car and a van come speeding up to it

the thing is I am sure none of them were older than 12/13 tops, none thought it was a big deal, none afraid of getting into trouble
almost enough to start getting a Daily Mail subscription

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 15/05/2011 18:49

sfx - SadAngry about young kids behaving like that. I don't care about a bit of swearing etc - after all we are all human - but knowing when to stop is key. Poor kids. Hope something is done. It's sometimes scary when you see 5yo thuggish behaviour and think if you don't do something now we are all in trouble. Hold off Daily Mail subscription though. Saturday Guardian has better recipes. Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/05/2011 19:32

As practice-run for camping cooked rice and made tea on trangia. Grin Then spent ages trying to pack it up again!

sfxmum · 15/05/2011 19:41

simpler than the Rubik's cube Grin

I am sorry for them but I get miffed when they make life unpleasant for others, it is not the first time something nasty happened on the bus, it is low level annoyance but still spoils the moment

see the Observer has Gwyneth Paltrow recipes Hmm

dd sorted out dinner today or at least pizza toppings to dh's base yum
next she must learn how to poach eggs

OP posts:
vbus · 15/05/2011 20:25

Sfx - that is awful about kids behaviour Shock Angry Not pleasant for those around.
Glad sleepover went well
More promotions for Gwynnie's book Hmm As if you couldn't get enough of her on Glee!

Copper - LOL at doing practice run! Remind me when are where are you going?

Kew was good but surprised it wasn't busier. Felt really bad I shouted at DS1 at bedtime Sad

sfxmum · 15/05/2011 21:18

vbus we all do it at some point, dd sometimes says 'don't be shouty' Blush

Kew looked busy but not too busy from the outside, I guess the unreliable weather with the strong wind put people off

I now have 4 weeks until my exam and with the half term in the middle, I am not confident about this

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 15/05/2011 22:04

Some fuel left in burner so will try scrambled eggs tomorrow. Essential stuff only.

Saw Paltrow on Graham Norton show. Enough already. Noted that nobody ate much of that paella.

vbus - we are going to posh campsite, or hopefully posh anyway. Grin Re: lunch we found a place nearby selling roti canai but place was booked by wedding party. So we went to sri lankan place instead and had paratha.

DS1 has instructions to say "I don't like it when you shout" when I shout.

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/05/2011 16:59

Hello!

When is it going to rain? This is not good.

Update on Woodcraft Folk - Hanwell meetings full. So there. We'll never know what it's like now unless someone checks out the South Ealing branch.

sfxmum · 16/05/2011 17:23

true it is funny odd weather, hopefully it will improve for half term

copper how were the eggs?

had the pleasure of spending money at the dentist this morning I am sure I was drooling when I met KewC 2 frontal fillings made it difficult to eat for quite some time

OP posts:
vbus · 16/05/2011 20:28

So Woodcraft remains a mystery

Copper - Campsite looks good fun and filled with activities, please report back if any good

Sfx - feeling any better now?

Think I was shouty as I was down on something else, took it out on poor DS1 who seems to have forgotton all about it now Blush. Ds2 seems to have mastered the scooter! He's been doing it for a while in the garden etc but today he scooted quite a long way. He was pretty knackered by the time he got to bed though

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/05/2011 20:37

sfx - haven't done eggs yet. Busy today. Might try tomorrow.

Yes, woodcraft shall remain shrouded in mystery.

sfxmum · 16/05/2011 20:48

vbus all better thanks Smile
dd asked me to put braids in her hair then decided she would not wear a helmet because it would hide her hair

copper finally managed to have a look at camping place it looks nice

must run tomorrow it is nice to feel the fitness returning but I am slower, probably because I am carrying quite a few extra lbs

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 17/05/2011 09:40

Garlic chives omelette. Yum!

dustythedolphin · 17/05/2011 10:46

Hi how is everyone, have I Missed any major news? Is anyone PG, moving, doing anything new?

Is it dry there in London?

Copper - we need a volunteer to go to the south Ealing WLF and sample it don't we? Wink
