thought I would start a new one

stepfordwife · 04/05/2011 14:12

would do, vbus, but editor on my back who seems to require the work she's commissioned. Shockspeak of deadlines and such-like. Shock Shock
doesn't seem to be taking my contacts and possible case studies disappearing into black hole problem seriously. how very dare she? Grin

stepfordwife · 04/05/2011 14:14

how many easter eggs everyone still got in the house, then?
think i did my usual altruistic service of riddig the house of temptation...

sfxmum · 04/05/2011 14:15

vbus have seen and replied thanks

frock watching I am sure the princesses outfits were encouraged by their mother out of spite and to keep being relevant in coming to their defence
Posh was just annoyed she was pregnant at that major occasion and she could not be thinner than the bride

princess Michael had the hugest hat, making her not very important with the 'try hard'Grin

suhsi thanks for link that looks better than the May festival at Richmond Green, hurry there if you are a Last of the Summer Wine fan though

steppie my mother died n the 29th of February in 84, a very long time ago, but the lack of an anniversary day is odd, although she was buried the following day and that somehow marks it. and you are right it is part of you and your narrative as it were

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/05/2011 14:19

steppie menat to add I will catch up with exile but am frantically tryig to watch the rest of the Crimson and white before it expires iplayer is great but ought to give me more time, very inconsiderate
and I still have a wee bit of reading to do before starting to write the essay due next tuesday

Hello!

My phone has been refusing to admit to having a camera. But I find I don't miss it much. These new phones are so big. They'll never fit in the nice little pocket my muji bag has.

Had long day. Tired. Nothing on telly.

Tilly - where are you? I'm reading Nero Wolfe stories. They are great! Have you read them? Do you like them?

vbus · 04/05/2011 21:08

Sfx - you used to be able to download off iplayer then you had 30days to watch instead of 7days. Check if you can still do that

I read 'One day' on holiday, thought it was quite good

I am really tired too, might go to bed soon and have an early night

BTW did anyone apply for Olympic tickets?

sfxmum · 04/05/2011 21:57

hello

vbus managed to catch the last episode thanks, still have Fringe to watch tonight, as far as I am concerned the best sci fi on telly at the moment still not a patch on BSG but hey not bad either

we applied for tickets, dh used his link for equestrian events mostly I think, I tried but it would not let me as my Visa was expiring shortly, then I forgot about it when I got the new one and then it got too busy on the last day and I could not be botheredGrin still hope we get tickets for something

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/05/2011 22:00

btw One Day is a movie now here
I like the blogger but sounds very chic lit to me and someone spoiled the ending

OP posts:
vbus · 05/05/2011 12:43

I heard they were making a film about it. Pity about ending spoiler, absolutely fine for holiday reading though

We applied v. last minute for a few events. Not hopeful we'll get any tickets as going for wkend events and low price category but thinking there'll be a next round of ballots for those undersubscribed events

Not heard of Fringe

Looking forward to outing tonight!

vbus · 05/05/2011 12:44

Forgot to say I've cast my vote this morning!

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/05/2011 17:57

Voted ages ago - postal vote.

No olympic stuff for us. Won't watch it free, definitely won't pay extra for it! Oh God, when is it? Must get lots of DVDs in.

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/05/2011 18:00

vbus - where are you going? Envy

tillyfernackerpants · 05/05/2011 20:43

Copper, I haven't tried Nero Wolfe but will do so. Did you like the Daisy Dalrymple?

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/05/2011 20:59

I've got another Daisy Dalrymple book from the library, to be read after Nero Wolfe. I like them, thought sometimes the mannerism can get on your nerves. Still, they are very nice to read and are quite relaxing.

tillyfernackerpants · 05/05/2011 21:23

Its the language in them that make me laugh, but they are relaxing definitely. Btw, have read Warhorse (Michael Morpugo), really enjoyed it & would recommend (even though technically its a children's book!)

tillyfernackerpants · 06/05/2011 09:47

morning, seems the weather is picking up a bit.

Am going to this today www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/10500/rhubarb-and-custard-cake, makes a change to crumble!

tillyfernackerpants · 06/05/2011 09:48

Don't know what happened there, try again

cake

sfxmum · 06/05/2011 10:04

I will be baking dh's birthday cake -all chocolate no nonsense- said he
am trying to get an essay plan together, plus completing the wk7 of my running plan
so the PTA had to be let go, hope nothing too exciting happens there

dh will be doing his first half marathon on Sunday, and the forecast is hailShock

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/05/2011 13:45

Hello!

Shopping trip with kids this afternoon.

Just heard Michael Gove on radio. Words fail me.

vbus · 06/05/2011 13:46

Tilly - cake looks nice, let me know how it turns out. Might make it once our rhubarb stocks have grown

Copper - My bro gave me free cinema tickets to see Hanna.
Thanks Sfx for accompanying me, film was pretty good Smile Good luck to Dh for run, hope his ankle holds up even in the hail Hmm

Copying Steppie and have booked hotel for tomorrow night without kids, I repeat going WITHOUT KIDS!!! DH had some vouchers to use up plus we thought it woud be nice treat before he disappears to US. Can't wait Grin

sfxmum · 06/05/2011 14:05

vbus stop gloating about dirty weekend [grin Envy

copper what has he said now? missed the 1o'clock news went running instead
he does have a face that invites slapping, the poor sod, but he does come up with a lot of nonsense almost as bad as Andrew Landsley who I believe to be downright eveil

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 06/05/2011 14:10

sfx - the usual. Accusing BBC of digging up dissenting lib dems before election results are known to do down the coalition. Patronising, rude, interrupting, smug for no discernible reason, stupidly thinking he can pull the wool over people's eyes. There has been something lacking in the upbringing and education of the education secretary. And that is to put it mildly.

And breathe. Never listen to the news if you value your health.

sfxmum · 06/05/2011 14:24

vbus thanks dh will battle through it I am sure Grin he is on full on mid-life crisis it seems
''rage rage and so on'' not sure if I had mine a few years back or maybe it is about to hit Hmm

copper politicians are not to be taken seriously, I am glad the BNP got a good trashing again and the LibDems are paying a heavy price, coalition does not mean bend over

anyway for my course I was reading some papers on the market approach to health and social care of the 80's early 90's and the following business plan approach, it is hard to believe no one seems interested in understanding what the consequences were/ are and how to plan for the future
it makes for depressing reading best not get sick and or need any sort of social care or live too long beyond retirement, unless you are loaded

OP posts:
vbus · 06/05/2011 14:44

I did watch some of the news but missed MGove, LibDems certainly lost of lot of voters confidence

Sfx - sorry to gloat but have to as it's the 1st time we'll be going away solo in 5yrs!

Ah nearly pick up time, and as usual never quite to manage to get everything done that I plan to during nap time, c'est la vie

sfxmum · 06/05/2011 14:58

oh no please gloat away I know how you feel it is just envyGrin have a fab time
