OP posts:
sfxmum · 10/12/2010 16:24

see that is just the sort of man I do not fancy at all, although I seem to have a type usually the freaks and geeks, not much competition there and generally don't seem to age badlyGrin

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/12/2010 16:47

Hello!

Don't know anything about x-factor. Or boy george. But I do know about constant eating. We've run out of cake Shock so there is a double coffee expresso cake in the oven now. Hopefully the kids won't like it.

Cake, rraaar! Xmas Grin

I'm already not allowed to give DS1 a kiss in the playground these days.

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 16:53

Xmas Grin sfx
oh yes, our chezza's a reet good talker, pet.

cliche as it is, they do grow up so fast. i do miss them being newborns and little (as love that stage) but i think it's exciting (and "challenging") as they get older, although you always grieve the stage left behind.

and, although they rail against it, the older they get, the more they need you.

is annoying humbling, though, when your (too) emotionally intelligent 11-year-old son gives an accurate assessment of your emotional state Xmas Grin

and can't wait to have teenagers littering up the place with their gangly limbs and lofty declarations..
am honing my embarrassing mum persona in readiness

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 16:55

oh no lord copper, that's early rejection Xmas Grin
mine make me kiss them about two roads away from school..
except ds1 of course who now walks to school by himself....sob .

vbus · 10/12/2010 18:16

Steppie- Aww, Ds1 is growing up fast. I remember when I was 11 I was allowed to get the bus to Eccles on a saturday with my friend, ooh the excitement Xmas Grin It is sad they don't have the same freedom

Ds1 told me yesterday 'I love you mummy, your my favourite mummy in the whole world'Xmas Grin He's still under the weather and napped for nearly 2hrs this afternoon

Don't get the Boy george thing. Afraid I've never watched x-factor either. I only watch about 2 programmes a week and struggle to keep up with them

Concur re:eating more, I can't resist food atm, even the kids leftovers get shoved in Xmas Grin

vbus · 10/12/2010 19:08

Steppie- forgot to say snacks were delicious, thanks so much Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

sfxmum · 10/12/2010 20:16

we won a few things in assorted raffles at school fair I am tired now want child in bedXmas Wink

steppie yes the bitter sweet experience of children growing up, btw what is up with secondary?

vbus your kids are cute and funny

lorcopper keep meaning to try that cake maybe will bake it to take to MIL, I usually bake something for the first night when we arrive

will be catching up with some telly tonight,dd has 'recital' in the morning but her mate seems to be coming down with something nasty, hope she is ok performing alone

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/12/2010 20:44

sfx - cake is nice. Very strong coffee taste. It's the ground coffee that gives the defining taste. I nearly dropped it when turning it out so it's all in pieces now. But luckily one can still eat it. Xmas Wink

sfxmum · 10/12/2010 22:45

lordcopper that only means you can't offer it to posh visitors, oh the shame!
Grin

can't wait for gig at weekend must book stuff for Jan&Feb
just hope the guy got his voice back he cancelled his thur gig

dustythedolphin · 11/12/2010 12:44

Steppy a cunning trick for embarassing teenagers is to take a photo of them on the potty when they are toddlers, which you can then threaten to blackmail them with-- treasure throughout their teens Xmas Wink

..well that's what my older sister did with me anyway Xmas Blush

Name dropping moment - Boy George camt to my 18th birthday party Xmas Wink

Have politely and diplomatically told scarey boss woman a few home truths about the job/employer/culture of the organisation and illicited support from my colleages so they said the same things and backed me up Xmas Wink

To her credit she is trying to resolve some of the concerns we have raised and has also said I can work from home sometimes as I was moaning about having no work life balance Xmas Smile

odetothewestwing · 11/12/2010 19:15

Mmm SFX, envious at all these gigs - great stuff!!

How is everyone else? Steppie, am lol at your gaffe, that's just the sort of thing I would do although probably worse!

Dusty - good on ya standing up to boss woman - that's the way forward.

Tilly - happy birthday to ds2! Hope you had a great celebration. And also, vbus to ds 1!

Went shopping today, got most of the christmas shopping nailed including a dress for me, yayyyy! In typical me fashion it is of course grey and not very revealing, am such a plain jane really but it did make me feel good. Although is slinky jersey so will require some well upholstered underwear!

sfxmum · 11/12/2010 20:23

you know westwing what I really miss is drifting about and happening on some club where so new bright young thing is performing
but alas it all has to to be planned these days

and btw you are no plain Jane, says she who bought 2 grey dress tops the other dayHmm accessories accessories accessories Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/12/2010 20:52

sfx - would you like to happen across my BIL and his band? I think they are quite good, but I don't know the first thing about this young-people-music business. Xmas Grin

westwing - I went out shopping, determined to buy bright pink or green, and came back with a grey cardi. Xmas Hmm That's why I need to go shopping again. But definitely no slinky anything for me. Don't think any contour-controlling upholstery works on triple muffin top. Xmas Grin

But I will not be able to resist again buying Lego if I see any...

sfxmum · 11/12/2010 21:32

dusty is that some sort of 360 supervision feedback, or whatever the speak is these days or some old fashioned mutiny? Grin still I hope things improve

lordcopper what kind of music do they play?
I am a bit particular

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/12/2010 21:40

sfx - don't know what type it is, but have sent you a link to their website.

stevieknicks · 12/12/2010 10:27

Hi all - hijacking to say I am moving from north london to St Margarets in the new year and in search of like minded people for chat, company and sanity!
Pretty jittery about whether we are doing the right thing but seems a lovely place to live. Best for our DCs but we will miss the buzz of here.
So can I join your gang?!

Kewcumber · 12/12/2010 10:59

whether you can join our gang depends on many things - if you pass the initial questionnaire, then we will forward you the details of the secret initiation ceremony (usually in M&S cafe in Kew)

sfxmum · 12/12/2010 11:01

Grin Hi Stevie

stevieknicks · 12/12/2010 12:01

Fire away Kewcumber, once it is not about housework or James Blunt I should be ok

stepfordwife · 12/12/2010 12:03

welcome stevie Smile
yes, dh used to live in north london and when were (finally) buyimng had to make choice between there and here.
miss the buzz too sometimes but this is a fab area.

well, so much to do and so little inclination. suggestions on a postcard please....

about to troop out to buy (yet) another set of lights for the christmas tree as can't find others.

did my bit on the stalls at school fair yesterday including the very yummy international food stall - let's just say contributed to profits!

westwing - gladd you're gaffe-prone, too! makes me laugh..you don't feel bad about how you've behaved, just bad it was witnessed!
ditto shouting at kids only to realise window is wide open...

glad you liked the snacks, vbus

sfx - re secondary schools. have a niggling feeling i prefer our second choice but ds1 preferred the number one choice

Kewcumber · 12/12/2010 12:08

steppie - you used to buzz? Shock

Fallen at the first hurdle stevie - all the questions are about James Blunt.

stepfordwife · 12/12/2010 12:27

..oh dear stevie..you're going to fall at the first question then based on james blunt in a pinny..
shame..

stepfordwife · 12/12/2010 12:28

oh yes, dear kew i did..
now i just creak...
Grin

stepfordwife · 12/12/2010 12:34

and does it make me a really bad mother to say MY KIDS ARE REALLY GETTING ON MY SODDING NERVES TODAY!*
(well the two of them that are here at moment...)
that's better
As you were..

*No doubt i'll lose it with them, say something very un-motherly and be witnessed by my MIL....

sfxmum · 12/12/2010 12:57

dh just left for his rowing thing full of a cold after having gone running this morning in shortsHmm
he better not cancel tonight, I want to go out and it is getting late to find a replacement

steppie his parting shot was 'I shall leave you two to argue, you have been bickering all morning'
