Hadn't realised we were so close to filling up the last thread, hope you all find it!!

OP posts:

How was the play, SFX? I didn't get to see dd's due to all the illness - dh went along and I was at home with the sick boy. Looks like I now have a sick dd and so the enforced lock-in continues! Maybe I will emerge by Christmas lol!

How is everyone?

Am so bored here that our tree is up wayyyy too early, it was just something to do plus it looks pretty.

sfxmum · 09/12/2010 07:47

hi westwing sorry you are still in enforced confinement you have my sympathies, our tree went up one week earlier than usual too also to keep dd busy.I haven't seen the play yet it will be my turn on Friday but dh says it is much better than last years

somehow after the most active day I have had in ages and with dd finally not being woken up, and waking me up with her cough I somehow managed to only sleep for 3.5hrsShock

still will be going to gym after drop off

Kewcumber · 09/12/2010 09:19

sfx, my mum said that Mary and Joseph were nearly having a pounch up over baby jesus and the gifts... and so starts 2000 years of religious turmoil!

sfxmum · 09/12/2010 09:30

a domestic in Bethlehem the Tories will have a field day with this broken society thing

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/12/2010 09:41

Grin at dysfunctional Bethlehem family.

I feel a bit dysfunctional myself. Had enough of bloody school runs. All politicians should do at least three months of relentless school runs /packed lunches/assemblies/cake sales/snow closures/feed children after school/supervise homework etc before they dare make any policies. A bit like the Thai-style be-a-monk-for-a-while thing. If everyone does that there will be no time or energy left to start wars.

vbus · 09/12/2010 10:04

Hi

Copper - Didn't Micheal Portillo do that a few yrs back? Hilarious viewing and he did at least experience what 'real life' was like.

Westing - sorry to hear Ds still ill and next DD, hugs to you all.

Sfx - Glad DD is better. good luck for study and good effort for going to gym on such little sleep!

Kora - enjoy your time off I'm sure it will go quickly

KC - sympathies re: DS, does sound like he's terribly tired/overstimulated. My friend is a nursery teacher and she says the time of year when kids start going crazy with anticpation of Xmas round, all the parties, new stuff at school etc.

We're at home today as DS1 not so good. he's had a cough and was sick because of it this morning so I though best he stay at home. TBH a day at home will do him wonders I'm sure as he's massively tired too. GP's had to leave unexpectedly early this morning. Nice visit but thankfully it was short!

My DC never had babyccinos or watched Home Alone - what are we missing? Xmas Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/12/2010 12:59

vbus - michael portillo is a has-been politician. And it doesn't count to look after other people's children. They are just not going to wind you up as much as your own, and all those conflicting emotions that really wear you out are just not going to be there.

Been to Brentcross shopping centre to satisfy a little bit of my shopping urge. Now must WORK WORK WORK.

sfxmum · 09/12/2010 13:30

managed gym and coffee with friends then picked dd up from school as half of them started puking and she already has a cough so not taking chances.
tomorrow will take her for the play then bring her back home again, maybe back in the evening for fair

so glad I managed a couple of workouts and shopping

dustythedolphin · 09/12/2010 15:49

Copper I agree but feel that we should add "a week's worth of de-lousing children"

That should sort out the politicians and eradicate nits at the same time

SFX and well done :)

Had a terrifying skid last night on the motorway, when car went out of control on some black ice yesterday and had to drive the last five miles in 1st gear, due to slippery mountain roads,so have been shirking from home today :)

When is it the holidays? I'm a bit sick of acting out this overtired-childen-overtired-mother scene everyday.

sfxmum · 09/12/2010 18:23

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 12:44

oohh sfx, what was deleted message?? (or hint of?)

hope all well and gearing up for christmas
i so agree, lordcopper, school is ruining my life [hgrin)

with three of them at the same school, it's a full-time job (not) keeping up with expectations.
do they think we've got nothing else to do?
bah humbug!

MIL here from Oz on her annual three-month stay. (polishes halo)
actually she's lovely and i'm not territorial on the home front, but is hard at times having someone in the house all the time.
so wearing having to be nice all the time, dontcha know? [hgrin]

mind you, think she just over-heard a row between myself and dh, triggered by his grumbles about showing me how to do something on the computer he's apparently shown me a zillion times before..(and his point is?!) culminating in me telling him to f* off (not my finest moment..like the kids, i'm over-tired and over-excited [hwink]
luckily, she's quite deaf...

kora - hello and have we met?!
did we have coffee at my next door neighbour s's house to talk about my kids' school??

hokey-dokes, back to work....

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 12:45

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Wink, i should have said...Xmas Grin

sfxmum · 10/12/2010 12:49

steppie I am a wikileaks agent and it is all a conspiracy to shut me up Xmas Hmm
(I might have accidentally blurted out names)

oh no being nice all the time is wearing and not good for your health

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 12:51

ah, i see
yes, so it's a positive thing to unleash my inner old cow on dh..... Xmas Grin

vbus · 10/12/2010 14:05

Hello all

Sfx Xmas Wink

Steppie - hello! Hope MIl enjoys her visit, fingers crossed she didn't over hear Xmas Grin

Copper - hope you get some time to yourself in the holidays to recharge your batteries

Dusty - skid sounds scary, hope you're taking it easy

Tilly - lovely to see you earlier, hope DS2 has a great day. DS2 made me laugh in the car afterwards he kept saying 'cake, rraaar' Xmas Grin Better than when DS1 got in the car and started singing along to a random song on the radio 'do it like a brother, sugar, sugar, sugar' Xmas Shock Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 15:31

hello vbus!
meant to ask - did you make the bhel puri?

and dusty - yes that must have been very scary, you poor thing.

am the only one who can't stop eating at the moment? must be the cold weather.
as i was prodding my (double) muffin top while watching that rather touching programme with boy george last night, i thought:
a) oh dear, i'm the fattest i've been for years
b) ach who cares? it keeps me warm in this weather Xmas Grin

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 15:32

..am i the only one amongst you erudite lot who's excited about x-factor final this weekend?

matt to win

sfxmum · 10/12/2010 15:37

steppie must put you in touch with my friend upstairs I think she has a fan club for that man, whoever he is, she is constantly torturing me with what she calls musicXmas Hmm

dd has been eating the chocolate baubles from the tree, her excuse is she does not like the ones from her calender, I argue they are both Montezuma no way can they be bad

stepfordwife · 10/12/2010 16:09

..oh i don't think he's a (particularly) good singer, sfx, i just fancy him Xmas Grin

and, no, no, no of course it's not about the music..it's the drama, goss and if cheryl or dannii have got the best frocks..Xmas Wink

disclaimer: i have got a brain. honest, guv.

ooohh big news: have started letting ds1 walk to school by himself and he had a little solo shopping trip into sheen last week.
he was 11 in october and dh has been long nagging encouraging me to pull in the apron strings slightly.

makes me sad as i had so much more freedom when i was his age, but it's a sign of the paranoid times we live in, i guess.
mind you, by 12 i was going to the pub - no way will he be doing that! (ds2, however, is a different story...)

sfxmum · 10/12/2010 16:22

steppie GrinX-F thing I just don't get at all, Cheryl is just a dolly, can she talk?

commiseration and congratulations on the growing child

was just thinking this morning that I must start focusing on stuff to keep me interested and maybe even interesting when my child stops thinking I am the best ever
they do grow up ever so quickly
