Hadn't realised we were so close to filling up the last thread, hope you all find it!!

It's like a HV I encountered ages ago who said to give DS1 low salt low fat cheese. She wouldn't say where one could find such a beast when queried though. Grin We are not so keen on brown bread here, but I mix some wholemeal flour with my white loaves. I have a pumpkin loaf (white) in the freezer. Not sure how that would go down with the crowd yet.
DS1 had wholemeal bread but bacon inside. Is that healthy?

Mackerel and herring roe all eaten in 10 minutes (DS2 keen, DS1 not keen, on roe, but at least they know how to spell it now Wink). We had Chinese "dragon whiskers" noodles. Cue "Are they really?" Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/01/2011 18:14

Oops forgot about nightout thread.

DS1 kept licking his slice of lemon too. Mad.

sfxmum · 20/01/2011 22:11

very amused by the Labour back stabbing drama of the day, so bitchy

Grin
sfxmum · 20/01/2011 22:13

like the lemon freakyness

tillyfernackerpants · 20/01/2011 22:17

sfx, must've missed that one!!

Lol at lemons & real dragon whisker noodles Smile

Had to have a word today with a playworker at one of the groups we go to. She's lovely, very sweet to the children & ds2 adores her. Unfortunately, she finds it hard to resist his insistence on snacks. Today she gave him 2 packets of crisps & a small packet of biscuits Shock. To top it off, the biscuits came after I'd spoken to her about the crisps Confused. Unsurprisingly, ds2 didn't eat much lunch today!

LOL Tilly, it wasn't that cake lady from Toy library was it?

Copper - Grin at dragons whiskers

vbus · 20/01/2011 22:21

sfx - saw the breaking news but missed the bitchiness, miaoww

tillyfernackerpants · 20/01/2011 22:21

sfxmum · 20/01/2011 22:31

tilly no wonder kids like it there cake biscuit crisps toys = heaven

well the gossip is that Alan Johnson is going on account of an affair with a civil servant at Westminster, that had apparently been kept out of the press until Ed Balls people 'encouraged it out' so AJ goes EB gets the job

  • what is the line about enemies close and friends closer?

I expect the tabloids will be enjoying this

vbus · 20/01/2011 22:34

Oh how interesting, I heard news on radio around 6pm saying he'd resigned for private family reasons. This is a slightly juicier version of events!

sfxmum · 20/01/2011 22:42

all the blogs and twitter are really like the village busybodies whispering about, it is rife with wild speculation

one more day of school I am ready for the weekend

UptoapointLordCopper · 21/01/2011 10:07

Hello!

Only saw the news at 10 last night. Why have they got rid of Gordon Brown, thinking he looked less than human, and chosen a new leader who looks like something from the Muppets? We had a trawl through Google image and concluded that it's Bert. You might disagree with the exact character, but it's definitely something from the Muppet show. (Contributing to the shallow end of the debate. Grin)

sfxmum · 21/01/2011 10:56

choosing the Leader for looks is not really a good idea but seems to be the thing
I think all of them look odd and stuffy

UptoapointLordCopper · 21/01/2011 12:09

Since they never do what they say anyway you might as well choose them for looks. Hmm

Fancy choosing Alan Johnson for shadow chancellor in the first place. HmmHmm

sfxmum · 21/01/2011 12:39

I see Blair is back doing his 'you can't handle the truth' speech

Johnson was/is funny
Richard Armitage for prime minister with maybe Colin Firth for Chancellor

tillyfernackerpants · 22/01/2011 11:31

lol sfx

Managed to get to the park for all of 20 mins this morning before it rained!

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 22/01/2011 11:58

We are doing experiment with sprouting potato to see if the shoots will grow towards light. Hmm Kids are taking bets on whether potatoes are "clever". Grin

sfxmum · 22/01/2011 13:24

tilly nice to see you and the big little boy, he is so sweet, loved the hug and hand holding

copper you should talk to my friend she is an agronomist did her thesis on organic farming of potatoes and particularly effective ways of avoid blight, what she does not know about potatoes is not worth knowing Grin and they smell when they rot

have been to music class with dd we should go out swimming later, cold cold out

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/01/2011 19:26

sfx - we are only going to see if potato shoots grow towards light. So we have a small box with a hole at one end and potato at the other, and made some sort of obstacle course in between. Hopefully shoot will go round obstacles to get to light. That will be a triumph, since the last experiment of trying to see if roots grow towards moisture ended in plant dying of drought. Blush

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2011 19:41

So who wants to go camping end of April? Smile Give me motivation to buy stuff!

sfxmum · 23/01/2011 20:22

end of April in the South of France? jolly good ideaGrin

went out today for a little jog did 6 very slow miles, seems everyone in west London was doing the same, the run up to the Marathon is always like this

dd went riding, she can now get on and off the pony and turn left and right, stop and start,I expect it is helpful
she is very excited because one of the mares is expecting, I think she thinks she might see the birth if she goes there often enough

had a very nice weekend but I am very grumpy, is it the menopause? Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2011 20:29

sfx - UK, not france. Grin Doubt if little car can to south of france with the load for camping.

So minisfx knows left and right? Impressive. We are forever mixing up left and right, me included...

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2011 20:30

I was grumpy too, only getting better now kids are in bed, so I suspect children, rather than menopause.

sfxmum · 23/01/2011 20:39

If you go camping in April pick a place with plenty of indoor entertainment nearby, you never know but it might rain

minisfx hasn't quite managed how to get the pony to slow down, she was slightly alarmed that the lively beast wanted to trot quite a lot, she asked if we could go and see horsy sports an the Olympics
she was also slightly put out that the Winter Games were not in London, not sure where she has seen the slopes
