vbus · 24/01/2011 13:06

Hello

Hope everyone had a nice wkend.

We would like to camping but the tent we want seems to be now sold out everywhere and new model not released til March & more expensive Hmm

Copper - where are you going camping?

Sfx - maybe she has seen the ice skating at Hampton court ads? Grin

Night out at prohibition place was excellent, maybe one up from squat lite, felt like being in some old lady's living room Grin

sfxmum · 24/01/2011 13:25

Kewcumber · 24/01/2011 14:43

Camping? April! Shock

wanders off to book psychiatrists appt for copper.

Yes book somewhere with inside entertainment, places with beds and hot water indoors are particualrly good in April.

Our school is having a camp in teh school field in May which is as early as I will ever camp.

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/01/2011 15:03

OK perhaps not April then. [bgrin] We are going end of May with friends.

Kew - no casting asparagus on my sanity.

vbus - night out sounds a bit surreal.

Just back from work and off out again. So tired. DS1 woke up at 3am being scared ...

sfxmum · 24/01/2011 15:09

that library thread is doing my head in, apparently I have 'suckled at the bloated teat of the state' [bhmm]

as you were

tillyfernackerpants · 24/01/2011 18:24

sfx, sounds interesting [bhmm], I'm on a different library thread which is just everyone listing their local closures etc

OP posts:
vbus · 24/01/2011 20:59

Copper - place was surreal but lots of fun

Will check out lib thread at some point

Sfx/Copper - need some polenta for biscuit recipe as have friends over at wkend, which polenta to buy? Are different brands the same consistency/cooking time? Never bought the stuff before, TIA [bsmile]

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 11:34

vbus for coating I am cheap and use instant sometimes the one from the south American or Portuguese shops can't recall name but says Farinha de Milho (PAN I think)for fancy stuff I go to the Italian Deli but sorry not much help as I can't recall name

watched this little programme last night about about Catholic priests in the Outer Hebrides, must remember to watch the rest, was charmed

since we talking Scottish is some Burns

[bgrin]

vbus · 25/01/2011 13:18

Sfx - thanks I just ordered some stuff off Ocado, hoping it will be ok. Lovely voice [bsmile]

Tilly - nice to see you both earlier, hope DS1 has a lovely birthday!

DS1 enjoyed cinema night at school yesterday, he is tired today so early bed tonight I think

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2011 14:19

Hello!

Re polenta - I had a packet of instant that I really really hate the taste of, but the posh-looking packet that DH got from Waitrose is nice. Not instant though. Makes a nice lemon cake too.

Grey and dismal day.

vbus · 25/01/2011 14:22

Copper - I got this will be ok for biscuits? Just to add some crunch really

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2011 14:24

vbus - don't know. Probably fine. What can go wrong? Smile

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 14:28

vbus that is the high end of instant me thinksGrin
btw got tickets for March hurrah

dh tried yesterday to get theatre tickets for my birthdayHmmhe is an optimistic soul

I am getting soft in my old age, last week I was having difficulty with course materials because it was specifically about child development and mental health services,
this week the material is something I have personally read many times over about people I knew, accounts of people institutionalised since childhood/ teens in the old asylum type places for the 'mentally retarded' , but it is still getting to me.

want dd back home asap might try to get friends over too

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 14:34

copper regarding what you said on dining tread
at last coffee morning a mum said she would be taking her kids to the royal wedding, to town I presume she does not have invite, I said I would do not such thing as I am a Republican

they were also discussing who should be King next, I said Charles should be entertaining, none of this went down well oops

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2011 14:39

Taking kids to Royal Wedding? Shock What sort of example is that?

vbus · 25/01/2011 14:48

LOL Copper - we're trying to escape Royal Wedding if we can! Still got to sort out hols Hmm

Right better go and get child, toodle pips

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 14:53

I know I know I shall never fit in

'here daughter let us go and see the girl getting married becoming a princess'

Kewcumber · 25/01/2011 14:56

"they were also discussing who should be King next" umm, they do understand that it doesn;t work like that? Its not a democratic monarchy - it will be Charles next unless he pops his clogs first.

I am neither Royalist nor Republican but Apatheticarian.

stepfordwife · 25/01/2011 15:26

sounds like a good coffee morning, sfx and kew!

...royalist or anti-royalist views aside,
prince william seems a decent person...
anyhow, will be watching for a butchers at the frock (kate's not his..)
but then again i'm shallow like that Xmas Grin

hope all well
it's that time again, dreaded tax return. sigh.
hence me on MN.

had a whirlwind trip to ireland for my uncle's funeral. luckily, due to logistics and time constraints, missed the two-day wake in house and people gawping at him in his coffin and just went to the crematorium...eyebrows raised and tutting from some rellies as cremation still (relatively) rare in ireland.

lots of mad cousins i haven't seen for donkeys years rolled out of woodwork. apparently i am the spitting image of my mum/dad/great aunty/grandmother/who all look nothing like each other by the way and i haven't changed a bit since i was a baby [bhmm]

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2011 20:51

No no no. Not William, not Kate. Not any of that lot. There is a choice for individual - they can abdicate.

What's a butchers at the frock? [bconfused]

Sorry to hear about uncle, steppie.

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 20:58

oh I like frocks too, during awards season I buy trashy mags and looks at gossip sited for the frocks [bgrin]

steppie I don't think there is a crematorium back at the island, not while I was there at any rate
oh the wakes lordy gossip central when all the busybodies can come into the house and have a good nosey
I am starting to think this is a Catholic thing rather than just Irish/ Portuguese

sfxmum · 25/01/2011 21:00

I think the objection was with Camilla being queen, things that I don't think about

this government is blessed, Royal wedding. Olympics some Jubilee or other wave the flag and be happy

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/01/2011 21:05

Objecting to Camilla being queen when much more objectionable person is king? Confused I will never understand. Phew!
