sfx, hope dd was well enough to go to panto.
was it good? shame brian blessed not in it.
we're going on thursday and, for a change, going to the matinee.
a very good idea. usually we go the evening one after a big, fat pizza and even bigger, fatter glass of vino and i invariably nod off at the panto Xmas Blush Xmas Grin

what a shame you had to head back from your friend's do, lordcopper. dh had to help push an RAC van out of our road!

traipsing about shopping today like a mad woman. next year i WILL be uber-organised (yeah, right)

keep warm all, toodlepip

stepfordwife · 18/12/2010 17:01

yesterday we had loads of stuff to get done. so that'll be dh hanging outside waitrose in richmond between 11am-4pm Xmas Shock yesterday for AA to tow car to garage and us both managing to lock ourselves out of the house for most of the day...

we are grown-ups honest Xmas Grin

please tell me you're all as useless as us....you can lie...

stepfordwife · 18/12/2010 17:06

...and another thing...
the kids won't help me fulfill my Waltons-esque fantasy by helping me make decorations....

just as well i've got my box-set of the real thing (now on series 3) to console me
altogether now...
dd do do dooo doo dooooo do do
goodnight john-boy

sorry, i will leave the building now
i'm rambling Xmas Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/12/2010 18:52

sfxmum · 18/12/2010 19:20

hi people Hi see the festive bottles are out Xmas Grin

we managed to get to the panto and Anita Dobson was excellent much better than Jane Asher last year, very good fun villain

we are now all tired and I fed up

It is my aunt's 80th birthday party tomorrow, somehow I have to make it to Harlesden with a 3 tier cake, one child, some presents, no trains working to willesden junctionHmmall in the snow

stepfordwife · 19/12/2010 13:27

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/12/2010 17:20

Hello!

Haven't ventured out all day!

Have been having sneezing marathon. Sad

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/12/2010 18:41

Have just finished Tess of the d'Urberville. Spent substantial parts of the novel going "you bastard" ... Am surprised such relentless misery is allowed. Shock

Now for a more cheerful book. But what?

sfxmum · 19/12/2010 19:41

lordcopper The woman in white Grin

dh's rowing was cancelled, he came with us, it was a marathon on delayed and cancelled trains both ways, but 80 yr old was happy and it was nice to see the family

plan tomorrow is cook to freeze and rest

Misfits Christmas special tonight, one of them is killing Jesus, it is all very seasonalXmas Grin

sfxmum · 19/12/2010 19:42

steppie I thought she was very good, well judged performance, I know it was only panto but she held it all together and dd loved her

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/12/2010 21:56

sfx- woman in white pretty grim as well, isn't it? I've got Henry James, but quite fancy a Graham Greene (on a gloomy books spree). Which one do you or anyone recommend?

Work tomorrow. Sad

sfxmum · 19/12/2010 22:52

lordcopper maybe Our man in Havana or Travels with my aunt, for less of the troubled soul business

sfxmum · 19/12/2010 22:53

dd was hit with earache since she was about to go to bed queue hrs of unsettled screaming, all quiet now but not looking like a quiet night ahead
I suppose 2 weeks of cold and coughs brought friends with

tillyfernackerpants · 20/12/2010 10:19

Hi all,

sfx, glad you all enjoyed the panto. We're off tomorrow! How's dd today? Ds1 was complaining of earache last night as well. Am going to take him to drs today just to get it checked.

Copper, which book did you settle on in the end? Have just finished MA's Year of the Flood which I loved.

We're now in the North after a marathon journey. We left Sat at around 12, finally got to my parents 1pm on Sun Xmas Shock. M25 closed as we just got onto it, ended up coming off & travelling through Bucks country roads to spend Sat night at my in-laws. 7 hrs to travel 40 miles, it was not a good day Xmas Grin

Lazy day after taking car in for service this morning. Baked three loaves of bread. Desire to bake more stuff in conflict with laziness.

sfxmum · 21/12/2010 16:48

I miss running but too icy to even try, don't really fancy an injury

I am bored but dd occupied playing with friend

dh was disappointed that his train to work was running but they decided on a revised timetable, train run 4 mins early, his text informing me of this was full of swearing, I don't think he is happy with the train company
