Steppie - Xmas Grin think you just described how everyone is feeling. yes I did watch Apprentice, Mr Baggs was highly amusing for all the wrong reasons and was surprised who got to final

sfx - will check out misfits

Anyway must dash and get ready for evening guests

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/12/2010 20:35

Bit bored. No inspiration for dinner. Want to go out out out.

And will all my colleagues stop sending me work emails now please. I've had enough and want to hibernate now.

sfxmum · 16/12/2010 21:37

are you still bore lordcopper?

I have resigned myself to just not being able to do anything just for myself for a while, dd being ill left me with a long list of stuff to fit in whenever possible

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/12/2010 22:07

I've even been out today to see an exhibition. But I want MORE outings! And I really need to stop work now. But a couple more things to do ... Sad

In fact had jerusalem artichoke and potato and chorizo fritters, with harissa and greek yogurt dip, for tea. Actually quite nice.

Kora · 16/12/2010 23:23

Hi everyone. Relief at end of terms, and hopefully some time off from usual routine be it school or work or other stuff is palpable. Copper, well done on getting out and about. I went in from maternity leave to work lunch yesterday and felt like little old lady from St Mary Mead as I saw Boris bikes and Shard building for real rather than "on telly". But home seemed so peaceful and solid when I got back. Ah, the grass is always greener. Sfx, hope DD remains on the mend and feels better for xmas (for all your sakes!). Westwing, enjoy your dresses, sounds great plan and reminds me that I've only bought things in small or teeny tiny (for DDs) for quite a while. Maybe Santa will bring something. By the way, does anyone recommend any good new books to read over Xmas when DDs might have some supervision other than me some of the time? I've looked down booker nominee list and all seems a bit offputting (eg Room looks good but no, not for now). Otherwise boxset of Misfits it will have to be!

sfxmum · 17/12/2010 09:08

one more day at home noooooooo Xmas Grin

anyway Hi Kora, grown up time, lovely!
I can't stand the idea of reading The Room to be honest, my next might be the latest Mitford memoir, always good value and fluffy at the same time
my Christmas request list includes that, the new William Gibson some social policy book by Bauman a Saramago, still have a few from last year that I did not quite get around to reading

lordcopper yeah to outing

we have Panto tomorrow, unfortunately Brian Blessed no longer in the cast

tillyfernackerpants · 17/12/2010 10:46

ds1 off school again, though its the last day & only half a day at that so don't think he'll miss much! Am hoping he's over this before xmas though. We're off to my parents tomorrow so at least I'll be able to get a rest Xmas Grin

Apprentice v amusing, especially Stuart. Did think Stella would be in the final but not Chris!

I need to find something to entertain the ds's with whilst I get packed up. They've had far too much tv the last couple of days Xmas Blush

Nice to see friends last night. Off to DH office family party soon, don't think I can face any more mince pies, might have OD'd on them already Hmm meant to be visiting BIl tom but we'll see how the snow is as they live down lots of country lanes

SFX you could always cheat and lace a hot chocolate with alcohol like moi Wink

...anyway surely it must be wine'o'clock somewhere in the world...

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/12/2010 21:48

Hello!

vbus - the Canaletto thing at the National Gallery. Quite fun.

Been to coffee, been to lunch, been to work. Asleep now ...

vbus · 18/12/2010 10:11

Copper - how was exhibition? I like some of his pics

Sfx - never too early to start the education Xmas Grin How is the poor poppet?

Dusty - like your style Xmas Wink

Tilly - have a good trip

Decided not to go to BIL's, snow is pretty deep there and no point in risking driving in it. Pity would've been nice for kids to meet up. Also gave football a miss today, DS1 still quite tired especially after office party yesterday. So have a day of nothing planned, nice, how rare is that!

sfxmum · 18/12/2010 11:14

dusty you have the right idea Wink

vbus she seems much brighter thanks, asking not to go to panto but we will bribe her somehow
enjoy the quiet day

lordcopper that sounds charming

so pretty and white out, dh just returned covered in snow with brunch

Kewcumber · 18/12/2010 11:32

ooh blimey look at the snow Shock off to see nieces new flat in clapham today. Thankfully sister is driving in her four wheel drive.

odetothewestwing · 18/12/2010 15:14

Booooo to the snow as we have had to cancel the babysitter! Will have to take it in turns to attend our neighbour's Christmas party tonight lol!

Dusty - mmmm yum! Wish I had bought Bailey's yesterday and not forgotten!

SFX, hope you enjoy the panto, who is in it this year?

odetothewestwing · 18/12/2010 15:16

Oh hark at my punctuation! How very embarrassing Blush

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/12/2010 16:25

vbus - exhibition was nice, quite small, 6 rooms. Some surprising pictures of his nephews and competitors which are more canaletto then canaletto. Interesting and enjoyable.

Meant to be going to Christmas drinks at friends but had to turn back - roads all not gritted. Cars stuck and couldn't get over bridges. Had to stop and help push other cars so we could get home.

Might have to have my own Christmas drinks now.
