sfx, so far half term good fun. Nice & relaxing without having to dash off in the morning!!

Hope you get your boiler sorted. I am just praying ours will hold out until we can afford to replace it. We had someone round to quote for a new one, its so old they didn't actually know its make!! He reckoned its probably one of the first back boilers to be ever made Confused

Anyway, think the weather tomorrow is going to be awful, any other thoughts for meet up? I'm happy to host at mine. Our car battery is dead so can't really go anywhere further than a bus/train ride away!

sfxmum · 26/10/2010 12:58

we have been waking up at around 9.30am great resting time
re boiler we have now switched off the water as it is leaking so badly I can't understand they don't seem to know what is wrong it is infuriating

Sfx - that must be so infuraiting. We had problem with boiler in last house, it was the 3rd co. who we called that finally figured out problem. Seems to me boilers are quite technical and each make has it's own nuances, not all plumbers have indepth knowledge of all boiler makes. Can you call boiler co. direct and ask for help?

Nice to see some of you at Sat night, it was good fun Smile

Tilly - thanks for offering to host, may have to play it by ear tom, Ds2 having some shocking nights and is massively overtired (as am I). Will see how tonight goes.

Been to Whitton gym today with 2 friends, we had the place too ourselves and all kids had a blast on the inflatables

Kewcumber · 26/10/2010 15:43

me too last time I went out properly for a night out was probably 5 months ago (at least Shock)

Think it was pretty obvious that I need to get a job before I start getting too involved in school politics and to have some grown ups to speak to more regularly!

sfxmum · 26/10/2010 18:44

today I managed to sit on bike make wheels spin a few times with my feet on pedals and not fall off while the thing travelled a few yards
I am pleased with my modest achievementGrin

vbus we got the plumber to call the maker and ask a few questions as we felt it wasn't going anywhere they will come Thursday with a new part Hmm not sure about any of this

tilly thanks for offer not sure how this will pan out tomorrow we have been having some late nights followed by late mornings, not very convenient for normal social engagements with children

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/10/2010 19:06

Hello!

Had friends round. Very nice day. But exhausted now. DS2 too have been waking up in the night/early mornings and then I can't go back to sleep. But anyway can't make tomorrow...

sfx - we did eventually call the boiler maker who sent an engineer who fixed the problem. Generic plumber doesn't seem to work.

tillyfernackerpants · 26/10/2010 20:24

sfx/vbus, no worries re tomorrow. Just not sure weather is going to be good enough for Kew, so text me in the morning if you do fancy coming over

vbus · 26/10/2010 21:26

will do, may just come for an hr, thanks

Kewcumber · 26/10/2010 21:36

sfx - are you doing a course on bike or just self teaching? Someone I know leanrt on a course which was apparently very good - I plan to try in teh spring when the weather is better {fair weatherbiker emoticon]

sfxmum · 26/10/2010 21:43

I ma self teaching, I know the council runs courses which are free and very popular am giving until the new year to learn then hopefully do a more advanced one to go in traffic

of course if I can't hack it, will do the basic one first

dustythedolphin · 26/10/2010 22:15

SFX well done for getting on yer bike! You will love it when you get going, you can terrorise all those pesky runners on the Kew towpath Grin

Hope boiler gets sorted!

Glad everyone had a fab night out!

We were supposed to exchange contracts on Friday but it still hasn't happened! Apparentlt ppl at bottom of chain are awaiting a fax from their lender, which is a bit odd as we were told they are cash buyers [hhmm]

SushiMummy · 27/10/2010 07:40

Good morning all.

sfx - hope you get the boiler sorted soon. Our new combi boiler has been working fine thanks to your recommendation! DH thinks the plumbers you recommended were really good (and they undercharged usGrin).

sfxmum · 27/10/2010 11:44

dustyGrin you tease! how are you getting on? can't believe it has been nearly a year

sushi glad it worked for you, they have been fine for us until now, I really believe it is the luck of the draw, not keen on current one does not inspire confidence, I put it down first to personal dislike due to his patronising attitude but I think first instinct was right
I tried for them to send someone else but they seem to want one person to finish job

we had another late night late morning I am actually catching on sleep beside clocks going back so dd will be fine

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 27/10/2010 21:05

hope everyone's having a lovely week

vbus, lovely to see you & the boys later. Can't believe it brightened up after all, though it did mean we could at least go to the park this afternoon

dustythedolphin · 28/10/2010 09:36

Howdy

SFX is your boiler fixed? Our central heating has just broken as well, though the good thing is I get to shirk work from hometoday Wink to get it sorted

We exchanged on the Kew house sale yesterday (phew)

Hope your weather is better than ours here the last couple of days, which can only be described as "disgusting"

vbus · 28/10/2010 10:13

Dusty - well done on exchange, v. exciting!

Tilly - thanks for having us lovely to see you too & DC, all boys seemed to enjoy themselves Smile We also ended up at playground in afternoon, Ds1 was just in t-shirt it was so warm. hope it continues

Sfx - well done on bike progress!

Off to hairdressers (for boys not me) & library this morning

sfxmum · 28/10/2010 10:15

hello

dusty enjoy the shirking and and hope heating, and congrats on completion

here we have the plumber over, first words out

  • this will be a challenge I am a bit nervous
  • that does not inspire confidence
  • no mate not that confident myself but I will not be defeated by this boiler Hmm

yesterday we just walked over to the playground early afternoon and by a struck of luck we met one of dd's class mates with his little sis, great to be able to let them play and have a nice chat with the mum

hope day is going well, certainly the weather has improved

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 28/10/2010 10:51

sfx - nothing like a defiant boilerman! Grin

sfxmum · 28/10/2010 10:54

this does not look good, it sort f started working again after being hit with a hammer < Shock > some of the initial problems persisting, he says they will go Hmm much money already spent particularly today

maybe time to call it quits and call someone else

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 28/10/2010 14:36

[hshock] at your plumber!! Maybe get a second opinion..

tillyfernackerpants · 28/10/2010 15:01

sfx, sorry but lol at hitting boiler with hammer, wasn't aware that was a valid solution to ongoing problems!!

Dusty, congrats on completion! How's the house buying going on your end??

Have had a lovely morning in Marlow today with dh's sisters. Both ds's had a great time with their cousins.

sfxmum · 28/10/2010 17:16

so I am not the only one finding his methods odd?
he is back tomorrow I think I will need to leave as I have wanted to give them up a few visits back and am dying to tell him what I think

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 28/10/2010 19:02

Hello!

Exhausted.

Pumpkin sitting in hallway. Are carving pumpkins no good for eating or will the flesh go nicely in a pumpkin pie?

Get new plumber, I think. We eventually went for boiler manufacturer's plumber - though to be fair it was a chip (computer, not potato) that went wrong and they just replaced it. In that case there was really no other plumber who could solve the problem.

vbus · 28/10/2010 19:43

Sfx - the guy sounds a bit nuts, defo tell him what you think (you are paying for him after all!) and call boiler co for solution

Copper - no idea, also have pumpkin to be carved but what to do with innards?

Made triple choc cookies yesterday which are yum. I thought I'd made too many but there don't seem to be many left today, oops
