hello folks chat away

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/10/2010 17:43

dusty sounds promising

vbus I certainly hope we can still go out on the 23rd it is in my diary so it is officialGrin

now seriously annoyed with plumber folk, they came around to check an issue with the boiler, charged me for it, then said it could be 2 problems, probably both but might be just one, hard to tellHmm
well to fix one the part costs £170 the other £10 plus half hr rate of £40 but they never fix anything within half hr anyway

BUT

although I have been the one dealing with them they emailed the estimate to dh and called him for a decision Hmm he passed me the phone, almost on principle am inclined to ignore them and go with someone else
but I guess that means paying for another diagnostic visit

23rd on our diary too.

Any idea where yet? Fancy sichuan food. Grin But not sure it's everyone's cup of tea. And not sure where to find around here ... And whereabouts are we going? Richmond area?

sfx - not good about plumber. Hope something gets sorted soon.

vbus · 01/10/2010 18:09

Sfx - that doesn't sound the best, hope you get it sorted and find someone who knows what they're doing

Copper - don't mind where we go, by then I think I'll just be desperate for a night out Grin Do you have somewhere in mind?

Thomas obsession is well and truly kicking in, thankfully we still have all the stuff from DS1

tillyfernackerpants · 01/10/2010 19:06

vbus, funnily enough ds2 is getting pretty obsessed with trains, ds1 was never really bothered!!

sfx, hope you get it sorted. I know one of the dads at school is a plumber, not sure if he works with a company or not but can ask on Mon if you like? He might have some advice anyway!

Ds1 has been v tearful today, he didn't want to go to school, then he didn't want to go to his friend's house after school, he just wanted to stay home Sad. When we did get back, he went upstairs & put his pjs on Smile

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/10/2010 19:08

Have now managed to double-book myself for the 23rd (d'oh) but should just make me keener for the next one...

sfxmum · 01/10/2010 19:15

tilly re ds1 hope he is well, they get really run-down by the end of the week especially with new timetables
re plumber yes please although we might decide this weekend whihc way to go, currently no heating but we don't really need it atm just planning ahead

on one hand we know how much it will cost on the other it is quite a bit of cash

and we can't seem to get rid of nits, they go and they come back they go and they come back

re dinner out just somewhere not too hard to get to please, don't mid what we eat

OP posts:
vbus · 01/10/2010 19:18

Professor - that is too bad

Tilly - DS1 quite tearful at bedtimes for past few days, he's just so tired esp with full on GP stimulation on top of school/activities, another fairly quiet wkend for us I think!

I have M&S meal deal thing, after cooking/baking/entertaining all week I feel like doing nothing tonight, just waiting for Dh to come home so I can chuck it all in the oven Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 01/10/2010 21:44

sfx/vbus, yep, definitely tiredness, just only kicked in this week though. Plus he commented on having to go to school every day, I said 'yep, for about another 18 yrs', 'but that's too long mummy, I'll be as old as you & daddy then' Grin

sfx, will speak to dad on Mon & let you know what he says

Re dinner out, easy to get to & cheap-ish please Smile

Kewcumber · 01/10/2010 23:53

well I'm not really "doing" food too well yet so it matters little to me what we eat as I won;t be actually eating much of it! And can't drink anything with bubbles and don't on the whple drink alcohol (by choice) so that'll be bread and water for me then please Grin

In fact don't think I've eaten out in public since stomach op so should be interesting!

Kewcumber · 01/10/2010 23:54

but thinking about it I could stretch to a starter and some fruit juice

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/10/2010 10:06

Hello!

Night out was a success. Went to Iranian place. Might be just the thing for you Kew - unlicensed and bread to die for.

(Un)fortunately pub across the road so feeling a bit slow this morning, not helped by bloody kids waking up and making a racket at 6.30am.

Now to figure out what to do with impulse-bought raspberry canes ...

dustythedolphin · 02/10/2010 23:15

Tilly sounds as though he is exhausted. When DD started school she went to bed at 5.30pm each night for the whole of the first term until Christmas!!!! Literally came home, ate then went to bed...I think its a big adjustment for them (too much work)

SFX think I would boycott the plumbers on principle Hmm

tillyfernackerpants · 03/10/2010 12:43

dusty, he is tired, but he won't go to bed any earlier. And we now have homework for him too Hmm

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend despite the weather

vbus · 03/10/2010 20:06

Tilly - LOL at DS1 comment! We have started with the homework too Hmm

Sfx - glad riding went well

Dusty- hoep house is pregressing well now that you've digested survey

Will have a think about venues, is Wagamama's too boring for a suggestion?

Kewcumber · 03/10/2010 20:41

no homework here until Jan. Wagamamas OK as anything for me.

dustythedolphin · 03/10/2010 21:07

Tilly we had sunshine and showers all day and the most amazing rainbow earlier here :)
The Dcs asked if there is money at the end of the rainbow and I explained, with a perfectly straight face, that there is a leprechaun at the end with a crock of gold Wink

V thanks for asking - survey not too bad after all, there are a few little jobs that need doing but house structure is sounds. i just need to carefully try and negotiate for the vendor to maybe go halves on cost of the works, as some are fairly urgent, but let's see. If he doesn't I wouldn't pull out, but just brace myself for a few costs when we move in but not too much hopefully

Next door neighbour here is going to cost the jobs for us

sfxmum · 04/10/2010 14:46

hello all

wagamama fine by me it has optionsSmile

nearly school run time bets on rain making an appearance

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 04/10/2010 15:46

no rain on my school run, thankfully. Got drenched enough on Sat night!

Wagamama's fine for me

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/10/2010 16:21

Hello!

Wagamama's fine for me too! Shall we settle on that then?

Homework time!

sfxmum · 04/10/2010 16:23

no rain but massive meltdown on way home Shock nearly forgotten what one of those looked and felt like

right Wagamama 8pm on 23rd?

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 04/10/2010 17:31

sfx, sounds good

tillyfernackerpants · 04/10/2010 17:32

Night out that is, not the meltdown Blush

vbus · 04/10/2010 18:08

It's a date Grin

Too bad on meltdown, hope DD feeling better now. DS1 hasn't had any meltdowns as such but is oh so tired. Don't know how he'll be in Jan when he starts doing full days Hmm

Dusty - good luck with negotiations, hope they work out in your favour

Busy day with builder round in morning for quotes, followed by playdate for Ds1 in morning and friend came over in afternoon, she has 3wks left before baby due. Banana and choc muffins were a triumph

UptoapointLordCopper · 04/10/2010 20:16

Hello!

DS2 is already doing full days. He's very tired but this manifests itself as extra-monstrosity and random crying. DS1 has meltdowns towards the end of term, but nothing too drastic. I feel like meltdown myself, to be honest ...

Nothing to report. All very dull here. Though there is a nice banana caramel cake sitting on the worktop in the kitchen. Smile

tillyfernackerpants · 04/10/2010 20:33

Seems everyone is struggling getting used to new routines!

I don't have a cake in the kitchen, but do have a glass of wine. Not sure if I'd prefer the cake tbh Grin
