Geneva Meet-Up Thread. Anyone for wine and chocolate by the lake?

MmeLindt · 09/06/2009 13:25

Thought that we could use a seperate thread to save us hijacking TML's thread with our Geneva chat.

Who is interested?

Assuming some of us still have young kids, we could meet during the day for glass of wine coffee somewhere child friendly, or a picnic? Botanical Gardens? Parc de Eaux Vives? Or nearer Nyon area. Depends where you all are.

Or do you want to get out sans enfants in the evenings?

Are we meeting tomorrow? If so, where? thx

MmeLindt · 10/09/2009 15:50

Is L'Adress good for you all? At 12.30? The address is
32, rue du 31 Décembre in Eaux-Vives.

Plat de jour tomorrow is

Vendredi

Samossa de dorade aux graines de moutarde et citron confit

~

Entrecôte parisienne grillée, serpolet, pomme miète

Sounds delish. 18chf without starter, 23chf with starter. Does that sound ok for you? Or you can choose from the lunch menu.

You can park in the underground car park Villereuse at Carrefour de Villereuse 2 (just under the Natural History museum) or at Rive.

Who is all coming?

MmeLindt
Strudelface
Cariboo
Niftyblue

Is that right? Anyone else?

sounds wonderful - I'm starved! :-) what time? is 12:30 - 1pm okay?

cariboo · 10/09/2009 16:41

oh, duh, you did mention 12:30 MmeLindt!

strudelface · 10/09/2009 17:02

Yep I'll be there.

MmeLindt · 10/09/2009 17:11

cool

have sent an email reserving a table, not that I think that we will need to but just to be on the safe side, with all the ponting going on

Have been to the hairdresser today, especially for you lot.

OP posts:
cariboo · 10/09/2009 17:16

how do we "spot the MNer"? lol

MmeLindt · 10/09/2009 17:21

Well, I will be easy to spot as I will have to bring the dog with me, if noone objects to her. I have an appointment in town at 9am and that is too long to leave her alone.

So look for a newly styled woman with a small white dog. That'll be me.

Or we could all come clutching something that reveals your MN name.

I will wave a bar of choc. Strudel will have to wave an apple strudel.

Cariboo can wave a NZ flag (had to google Cariboo, for some reason I thought it was an animal similar to a moose)

Niftyblue... hmm. You will have to get creative.

OP posts:
cariboo · 10/09/2009 17:25

NZ??!! No way! Am from British Columbia, Canada!

cariboo · 10/09/2009 17:28

Any other Canucks? Cadmum? Haven't heard from her for awhile.

cariboo · 10/09/2009 17:33

feeling nervous! shy, even!

Niftyblue · 10/09/2009 20:42

SO
I can`t make it tomorrow

I am starting to think I am jinxed when it come to MN meet ups
Said yes three times then had to cancel
aarrrrggghhhh
I was looking forward to put faces to names
DD was sent home for school today with a hacking cough
Teacher said maybe she needs a couple of days to get over it

CAN I PLEASE PLEASE COME ON THE next one
can we do it at night so whatever happens Dh is here to sort it out :SO I can come

MmeLindt I can be creative

I am going to sulk all night now

MmeLindt · 10/09/2009 21:34

Niftyblue
What a shame. I don't suppose you want to bring the patient with you? Is she really ill or is it just a cough?

Cariboo
I googled "Cariboo" and it came up with lots of info about New Zealand. Sorry, I take it all back. Bring your Canadian flag then, or a bottle of maple syrup.

OP posts:
cariboo · 10/09/2009 22:47

oh niftyblue, am as bad as youuuuuu! was wondering how to handle this as dh cannot (between you, me & gatepost, WILL NOT) b-sit dd tomorrow since he starts his new job on Monday & has so much to do; can't possibly take care of dd all morning & most of afternoon, blah, blah, blah.

IT'S NOT BLOODY FAIR! I was so looking forward to this meeting.

Please forgive me my selfish dh. A perfect time is any time when dh is safely back at work, kids safely tucked into school and no early pick-up from school so I can get gently plastered. Except wednesday or monday (some restos close on Mon). Or I can make you lunch at my house? Am good cook and like wine.

Seriously, I'm fully aware of how dreadful/not done it is to have to cancel at last mo but have no choice here. So sorry!

MmeLindt · 11/09/2009 05:28

Cariboo
oh, what a bummer. Why don't you bring DD with you?I can bring the dog home if she is nervous of dogs. How old is she again?

MmeLindt · 11/09/2009 08:57

Strudelface
Are you coming today? I hope I am not sitting alone with Daphne at the restaurant. I have my phone with me so will check later. I think I have your email address. Must go, or I will be late for my appointment

OP posts:
strudelface · 11/09/2009 09:35

Cariboo and Nifty - what bad luck - let's try again soon - in the next couple of weeks.

MmeLindt - I'm still coming - have texted you and emailed you Ah ha - just got your text - see you soon

MmeLindt · 11/09/2009 10:20

LOL, Strudelface, I forgot I had your mobile number.

Am currently in Starbucks synching my new iPhone. Not enough time to go home so I though I would do it in town before I go to meet Strudelface. Hope it works, otherwise I am not contactable all day. How did we manage before we had mobiles?

OP posts:
cariboo · 12/09/2009 11:29

Counting the hours til dh back at work. He's driving us all crazy.

MmeGoblindt · 07/10/2009 08:09

How are you all doing? Shall we try for an evening this time?

strudelface · 09/10/2009 10:51

Hello ML - you beat me to it - I keep meaning to resurrect this thread.

I am up for a night out/or lunch/coffee...

cariboo · 12/10/2009 12:42

me too!

strudelface · 13/10/2009 13:28

Good stuff Cariboo. Am busy next couple of weeks - going to Uk to visit in-laws for half-term. So what about something week beginning 26th?

Or do you have different half-terms to me?

MmeGoblindt · 16/10/2009 08:18

That is good for me, I am off to Dublin this afternoon for the weekend (leaving Granny and Grandad looking after the DC)

scariboo · 17/10/2009 15:10

Have a good time, Mmegoblint. Our neighbors have just packed up & flown off to Madeira for a week. Sigh! Would love to have the warmth of the sun again... bloody bise!!
