Geneva Meet-Up Thread. Anyone for wine and chocolate by the lake?

MmeLindt · 09/06/2009 13:25

Thought that we could use a seperate thread to save us hijacking TML's thread with our Geneva chat.

Who is interested?

Assuming some of us still have young kids, we could meet during the day for glass of wine coffee somewhere child friendly, or a picnic? Botanical Gardens? Parc de Eaux Vives? Or nearer Nyon area. Depends where you all are.

Or do you want to get out sans enfants in the evenings?

Hello- popping in quickly to say a very public THANKS to MmeLindt for giving me the official MN welcome to Geneva today it was lovely.

I'll come with dd2 (21 months) if that's ok?

MmeLindt · 29/01/2010 18:21

Of course it is ok to bring DD2.

I was just wishing that my DC were so well behaved. She is a darling.

Well, dd is having trouble coping with her workload & I'm trying not to freak out & drag her bodily from the school. I'm proud of her but this is not the life a 9 yr old child should be leading. She has no time to play. Just work, work, work. I don't know what to do.

The other problem is to do with a member of my dh's family. It's very sad.

I'd like to see you guys, meet up for a chat & a laugh. I've put on so much weight stressing about this, you probably won't even recognize me (lol) but that's how it goes, eh?

Evenings are really hard for me because of dd's homework. This has got to change! But for now, I can only meet up during the day. Next week looks good... anybody free?

strudelface · 31/01/2010 09:01

Sorry to hear you are not having the greatest of times Cariboo.

What about this Friday lunchtime - well 11.30-ish as suggested by MmeLindt a few posts up? If it's not suggest another time - I don't have much on this next week - so looking for diversions....

MmeLindt · 01/02/2010 10:21

Ok, lets go for 11.30am on Friday

Where?

OP posts:
strudelface · 01/02/2010 11:34

In town is easy for everyone to get to - I guess.

MmeLindt · 01/02/2010 11:55

Shall we just pick a restaurant out of a hat or do you know anywhere?

www.genevalunch.ch/RESTAURANTS-GENEVE-BARS/index.php/Details/SPAGHETTI-FACTORY.html What about this place? I went with a friend just before Xmas - it was great. Not exactly diet food but there are salads

MmeLindt · 01/02/2010 12:37

Sounds good to me. Stuff the diet for the day

OP posts:
Niftyblue · 01/02/2010 13:48

I can make it then
Is that the one near the old town?

TheMysticMasseuse · 01/02/2010 14:42

That's fine for me too. Dd2 and I will join you for about 45 minutes- will they be doing lunch that early though? i don't mind if they don't serve food but will they be open?

strudelface · 01/02/2010 17:04

Grrr my internet went down and you were all on - my bathrooms are now clean though

That place looks good - do we need to book Cariboo?

cariboo · 01/02/2010 23:55

Good idea to book - how many of us will there be (all?! coooool!) & what time on Friday?

MmeLindt · 02/02/2010 07:12

11.30am - we can have coffee with MysticM if they are not serving food

Or if they don't open till 12 we could meet for a drink in Globus first so that she can meet you all. Then book the table for 12.30.

Would that be ok with everyone?

OP posts:
Niftyblue · 02/02/2010 08:22

I can make that

TheMysticMasseuse · 02/02/2010 09:20

thanks Cariboo, what time is the table booked for?

MmeLindt · 03/02/2010 12:51

Hope you are not all totally freaked out at the sirens. Just rhe yearly test.

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 03/02/2010 13:24

yes what ARE these sirens? I was wondering whether we were meant to be heading to the nuclear bunker

Or whether it was an alarm because.... the sun is shining???

cariboo · 03/02/2010 14:42

Table booked for 11:30

strudelface · 03/02/2010 15:51

MM - they are the annual test - some are normal sirens and some are flood alert sirens and if you here them you are meant to tell all your neighbours and listen to the advice on the radio. Unless it is the flood alert sirens and then you are meant to RUN....

Cariboo - thanks for booking

See you all on Friday.

MmeLindt · 03/02/2010 16:13

LOL at them being the alarm for the sun shining

See you all Friday at 11:30
