Geneva Meet-Up Thread. Anyone for wine and chocolate by the lake?

Thought that we could use a seperate thread to save us hijacking TML's thread with our Geneva chat.

Who is interested?

Assuming some of us still have young kids, we could meet during the day for glass of wine coffee somewhere child friendly, or a picnic? Botanical Gardens? Parc de Eaux Vives? Or nearer Nyon area. Depends where you all are.

Or do you want to get out sans enfants in the evenings?

I promise to watch this space more closely as my dps arrive on Friday so I should be able to do a meet-up effortlessly from them.

I could use some company that would make me laugh!

MmeLindt · 08/12/2009 14:06

Cadmum
If you want to email me, I will give you a shout if and when we arrange something.

Any takers for a meet before Christmas?

TheMysticMasseuse · 08/12/2009 16:06

hello everyone, remember me? it seems like ages ago that I started moping about my move to Geneva, and now it's finally happening.

DH already there, dds and I are arriving on the 3rd January, so bookmarking my place for a 2010 meetup...

strudelface · 08/12/2009 16:40

Hello TMM - we will have to have a special welcoming meetup for you - did you get accomodation sorted?

Hello TMM,
I drove through Chene Bourg recently and thought of you. It is such a pretty area.

Yes, we will have to organise a meet mid January. Once the schools go back.

I can't do next Monday as I have two lessons that day.

Evenings? Any evening really. Boring nightlife that I have.

strudelface · 08/12/2009 17:20

What about Monday/Tuesday evening then?

MmeLindt · 08/12/2009 17:36

Monday would be good for me, DH has a meeting on Tuesday so might be late home.

Could you imagine if it hadnt been me and she got the wrong person LOL I tried explaining it to h but he didnt get it
He looked at me as if I have had my head in the snow tooooooo long

Enjoyed yesterday

cariboo · 09/12/2009 08:39

No one "gets" poor old Leekie, unfortunately. Except for my dc

Oh well.

strudelface · 09/12/2009 12:34

Cariboo/cadmum - are either of you free to go out on Monday evening?

(The bringing of toy vegetables is optional)

cariboo · 09/12/2009 13:08

strudel, I wish - I'd love to meet you & cadmum, too but knowing from past experience how busy this time of year is, I can't commit to anything before Jan.

why? what are you proposing?

strudelface · 09/12/2009 14:40

Cariboo - just a quick pre-Christmas meet - nothing sinister

We'll deffo meet in Jan then when everyone is back to 'normal'

Niftyblue · 09/12/2009 16:27

What is "normal"
Can`t remember that far back

have a good time
Drink loads and be merry

strudelface · 09/12/2009 16:50

'normal' was a time when you didn't meet women in shopping centres with plastic leeks in their pocket whilst talking on the 'phone to a woman named strudel who in return called you Nifty

Niftyblue · 09/12/2009 17:28

LOL
Cheers for explaining Strudel

MmeLindt · 09/12/2009 20:55

at you lot.

strudelface · 10/12/2009 09:02

lol at soup

just spurted coffee everywhere....

MmeLindt · 10/12/2009 09:05

It is Escalade this weekend, maybe we could make Mere Royaume soup.

By the way, just got a great tip for a Santa's Grotto between Geneva and Annecy.

here is the link to Santa Claus house in France. It's only 20 mins from Geneva. We were there this Sunday, already a lot of children at 10h AM, so better to be there around 9h00 (opening) during the week-end or try the week slot.

A very nice, pleasant and funny place for Children: Not expensive at all (? 6.70 adult and between ? 2-? 5.- for children)

See the Video 2... very nice!

The GPS address: +46° 4' 27.81", +6° 5' 7.80"

Very easy to find. It can be done/visited in less than one hour!

strudelface · 10/12/2009 09:11

ML which Escalade thingys are worth going to? This is the info I've picked up:

From DD2 are we going to see the big bangs on Saturday mummy? What's this do you know - canons I guess

And then is there a parade on Sunday afternoon?

MmeLindt · 10/12/2009 09:20

ooooooooh, you HAVE to go into town at the weekend. Marching bands, soldier, folk dressed up, cannons up in the old town (overlooking the Parc de Bastion). I think they are doing the ski slope again, bound to be lots of fun. Head for the old town.

And you have to go through the secret passage that is only opened once a year.
