Geneva Meet-Up Thread. Anyone for wine and chocolate by the lake?

MmeLindt · 09/06/2009 13:25

Thought that we could use a seperate thread to save us hijacking TML's thread with our Geneva chat.

Who is interested?

Assuming some of us still have young kids, we could meet during the day for glass of wine coffee somewhere child friendly, or a picnic? Botanical Gardens? Parc de Eaux Vives? Or nearer Nyon area. Depends where you all are.

Or do you want to get out sans enfants in the evenings?

May I join you? I'm not a mummy myself but I am currently an idle wife and looking to make the most out of a few months in Geneva!

strudelface · 03/12/2009 11:45

Lawyer.... of course you can join us

Ok so let's say Monday at 11-ish at the Rive Starbucks.

Nifty and MmeL are you free too?

Niftyblue · 03/12/2009 13:07

I can do Monday
cariboo what about the Chavanne centre it near you?

Or somewhere in Nyon

I really don`t mind but if its in Geneva I would have to leave about 1.30/45 as I need to collect the little cherubs up from school

cariboo · 03/12/2009 16:50

Oh Nifty, next monday morning at Chavannes won't work for me as will be at doc's appt in Geneva until 10:45-11. Unless we do early lunch? What about the rest of you lot? Cadmum, what about you? You can't meet until after the 12th, right?

MmeLindt · 03/12/2009 17:04

I can do Monday but not until later as my French lesson has been moved. I don't finish my lesson until 12 then have a half hour drive into town.

Unless I can contact my teacher and do the lesson in town, saving her the drive out here. Will give it a go.

Niftyblue · 03/12/2009 19:07

Cadmum · 04/12/2009 11:24

I tried to post something earlier this week but it is not here...

I might be able to make Monday work for a coffee. After the 12th would be better for me but I am not overly fussed.

strudelface I still don't know a thing about possible move date which seems ridiculous since we were supposed to be off in January.

cariboo Single-motherhood stint here as well until my parents arrive on the 11th and then dh is not back until the 19th. ARGH! I need a Manny...

strudelface · 04/12/2009 13:11

MmeLindt - there is a lady here who needs advice about swiss schools - can you help? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/living_overseas/871642-Moving-to-Geneva-lots-of-questions

cariboo · 04/12/2009 16:05

soooooo? Monday, Chavannes Centre as of 11-ish?

strudelface · 04/12/2009 16:25

Niftyblue · 04/12/2009 20:38

cariboo sorry I meant who

I have the wine open

MmeLindt · 04/12/2009 20:42

I have French lesson in town until 11.30am. Am still negotiating where we are meeting. I can pop out to Chavannes afterwards, but probably wont get there till about 12.

cariboo · 06/12/2009 17:56

That's great if you don't mind, MmeL! I'll be sitting in one of the brown armchairs as you walk in the shopping centre from the main entrance - in between H&M and the Manor caff. I'll have a stuffed animal on my lap - that way you can't miss me!

Niftyblue · 06/12/2009 18:08

So what time then?

strudelface · 06/12/2009 18:12

I'll be there between 11.30 and 12 then - any paticular animal I should look for Cariboo?

MmeLindt · 06/12/2009 19:58

I have managed to change my lesson to 10am near Plainpalais so will head out at 11.30am, should be there by 12.

I have Strudel's mobile number so will give you a phone when I get there.

Now what've I got myself into? Oh, I'll bring Leek! He's a plastic dog's toy who was adopted by a silly friend & me one summer's day after a boozy lunch. He looks like a pervert, with a great big white grin, a massive nose and wide-open eyes. He's sort of ugly/cute and I love him to bits. I'll be there latest at 11:30.

Cadmum · 07/12/2009 12:30

I missed all of the actual planning and had no idea that it was today. I hope you all met up and managed to have a nice lunch. Maybe next time?

MmeLindt · 07/12/2009 17:08

Cadmum
That is a shame, would have been great to meet you too.

Nifty is still getting over the shock of having a Welsh dildo waved at her

Strudel, how is your DD? It always happens on a day when you have plans, eh?

Shall we go for an evening meet next time? After the New Year? Unless Strudel fancies a quick meetup beforehand?

OP posts:
strudelface · 07/12/2009 17:47

Am still sulking I couldn't come - DD2 is now absolutely fine - I got some Xmas cards written and some wrapping done whilst she vegged in front of the TV - so not a wasted day.

Would love a quick meet-up - if at all poss before 17th - otherwise let's arrange an evening in the New Year.

I want to meet this mad woman who walks around with leeks in her pocket...

MmeLindt · 07/12/2009 18:35

Such a shame that you could not make it, Strudel.

I can do any evening really, let me know when.

OP posts:
cariboo · 07/12/2009 20:43

Welsh dildo, indeed!

Hilarious meetup, notably with Nifty. Laughing hysterically within seconds of meeting her. Mme Lindt good fun also.

Wonderful women, both. Can't wait to meet up again, with all of you next time, I hope.
