Geneva Meet-Up Thread. Anyone for wine and chocolate by the lake?

MmeLindt · 09/06/2009 13:25

Thought that we could use a seperate thread to save us hijacking TML's thread with our Geneva chat.

Who is interested?

Assuming some of us still have young kids, we could meet during the day for glass of wine coffee somewhere child friendly, or a picnic? Botanical Gardens? Parc de Eaux Vives? Or nearer Nyon area. Depends where you all are.

Or do you want to get out sans enfants in the evenings?

MmeLindt · 16/11/2009 10:45

cariboo · 16/11/2009 11:54

8pm? Ooo, that's LATE for little old ladies like me! lol Seriously, where exactly is this place?

Niftyblue · 16/11/2009 12:16

Do you want a lift Cariboo?
Meeting at Ferney at 7.15
or could meet you here
or whatever

On the red bull already !!!!
to make sure I get past 9.00 tonight

cariboo · 16/11/2009 17:35

Ferney isn't much of a help to me as am next to Divonne but if you can tell me the name of the restaurant, I can get there (I think!)

MmeLindt · 16/11/2009 18:00

Sorry, Cariboo, just seen this. We are meeting at Chez ma cousine in the old town. The big square at the top of the old town, where the cafes are, and a fountain. As you are coming up the hill on the right hand side, a yellow restaurant.

Email me for my handy no: mmelindt at me dot com

MmeLindt · 16/11/2009 18:01

Gah, mobile no not handy. That is German. Strudel will know what I mean.

Niftyblue · 17/11/2009 08:15

Thanks for last night

strudel just to let ya know
I used cleanser last night not a KANDOO

strudelface · 17/11/2009 11:29

I should think so - drinking hot chocolate shouldn't affect your cleansing abilities

Anyway - let's arrange another night out soon before everyone rushes away for Christmas.

Also merciless plug for all Genevois mners:

Winter Market at the LGB campus of the ecolint this sat and sun - come and buy my handmade christmas cards

MmeLindt · 17/11/2009 14:42

Aaaaaaaaaaaah, this weekend? Not last weekend? I was wandering around the campus looking for it. Bum.

Yes, it was an interseting and fun evening.

Let me warn you though, keep away from any fruit that Strudel offers you.

OP posts:
Niftyblue · 17/11/2009 15:52

cariboo · 18/11/2009 10:30

What can I say except I "chickened out"?

By the time I'd googled Chez Ma Cousine (and yes, I know EXACTLY where it is, been round there a thousand times!), dh was home & the kids were pleading, "don't go, Mama!" & I was tired & it was very dark & a long drive to Place Bourg-de-Four so I said to myself "stuff it! I'll go next time".

Sorry

strudelface · 18/11/2009 11:44

Awww cariboo - never mind.

Would a daytime meet suit you better? MmeLindt suggested we could go to Jim's for Fish and Chips one lunchtime - which I am REALLY up for.

cariboo · 24/11/2009 13:32

Things have been a tough recently, tbh. This is never a good time of year for me. I never noticed November when at school or at work - it was always Jan/Feb that seemed to drag on & on - but now it's November. I hate to see everything dying (keen gardener!) & the days are so short & gloomy...

Niftyblue · 24/11/2009 19:14

cariboo whats up ?

cariboo · 24/11/2009 22:03

you seriously do NOT want to know! if I got started, I'd be drop-kicked off MN for being a twonker (see swearing thread).

cariboo · 27/11/2009 13:01

something before Xmas?? a coffee at least? pleeaase!

Cadmum · 28/11/2009 09:21

Hello all,

I have added this threads I am watching so that I might be able to keep up...

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time Cariboo. My November was improved by a trip to Barcelona but otherwise a nightmare. I just found out on Wednesday that dh is off to Copenhagen for 3 weeks starting Monday which leaves me on my own to prepare for Christmas including the arrival of my parents on the 11th.

We were all supposed to be off to London for dh's graduation on the 17th but he is now gone until the 19th so that has been cancelled.

I would love to meet for coffee once my parents are here to take care of the monkeys so after the 12th if possible.

Niftyblue · 30/11/2009 08:47

I can do coffee
I am here till the 17th
Then back to the damp of the North Of England for 2 weeks

cariboo · 30/11/2009 13:21

Anything! dh is away for 2 weeks & I would love some extra mummy company & support! Have to be during the day, though. Next summer, I'll have a bbq for all of us - promise!

strudelface · 30/11/2009 17:10

I can do any day except Weds and Thurs for coffee/lunch before the 17th which is when my parents arrive.

Waves at Cadmum on thread - how are you move plans progressing?

MmeLindt · 01/12/2009 12:00

Cariboo
We will send Nifty and Strudel to fetch you next time so you can't chicken out

I am good for daytime meetings. Tuesdays not so good cause the DC are home for lunch but can arrange playdates if need be.

Feeling extremely bad-tempered tonight. Dh away on extended business trip & after 4 days into a 2-week solo parent stint, am ready to book next flight to Fiji. Or wherever. I am ready to throw something!

strudelface · 02/12/2009 20:15

Cariboo - I'll join you on that flight - it is a full moon tonight - that is my excuse for feeling cross.

Instead - shall we arrange a coffee date - what about next week?

cariboo · 03/12/2009 09:02

Oh my! So that's it! I used to think the full moon business was tosh until I noticed how my mood changed with a full moon - this has only been in the last couple of years. Am I turning into a were-mummy?

Yes, well, la nuit porte conseil & am feeling a little less um, grouchy this morning! Coffee, yes. Where? When? I can do Monday (after 10am doctor's appt in Geneva - around 11?), or Thurs or, at a push, even Fri. There's Starbuck's of course or Auer or... I don't know, wherever you like.
