I saw that thread, and had to step away from the 'puter in order to not spit out fighting words at the thread starter.

Oh goodness, just seen other thread, Cali. How odd. Sorry

My feelings re St Patrick's day are the same as CF's - if you are Irish then, of course, you should celebrate. If you have no Irish Heritage and have never been there then there is no reason why you shouldn't celebrate it but please don't pretend you are Irish because you are NOT. Grrr.

I spent the afternoon filling plastic eggs with cool gifts for our egg hunt at the weekend. And my friend had been to the local bakery and bought boxes of cakes so I ate far too much

kickassangel · 18/03/2009 00:36

i told dd to say 'top of the morning' to everyone, but got a very reply from her!
she's done irish things all day at school & about bedtime, suddenly decided she liked it. i kinda like the 'themed' approach sometimes, but just wish the yanks realised ti's ONLY them who do this & the rest of us are far too uptight sophisticated for such childishness!

kickassangel · 18/03/2009 00:45

just seen the 'cali' thread!!
i am always highly amused when people get put out by minor things on mn. don't they get it's NOT real life. how sensitive must they be in rl, if little things on mn make them upset!!
for all you lot know, i could be a bunch of crazed monkies having to type for several hours a day to earn my bananas. when i don't agree with people here, i just shrug & walk away.
ho hum, caliFRAU, rise above & don't bother, i think the general consensus is that rl must be getting to cali, and let her sort herself out.

dooneygirl · 18/03/2009 01:33

You mean you all aren't a bunch of crazed monkeys typing for your bananas?

SuperBunny · 18/03/2009 01:57

Well, I am. But you know that.

Right, have had an offer for cello - she wants to mail me a bankers check so needs my address and name etc and then will send it ups overnight and send someone to pick up when it is cashed. Does that sound ok?

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 18/03/2009 03:15

Actually, you're the only one I know for sure that isn't.

Don't know about the cello. I know when I e-bayed all that stuff, it took checks 3-7 days to clear the bank, but if you cash it, I don't know how they could get the money from you if it bounced.

kickassangel · 18/03/2009 03:20

that sounds a fairly normal proceedure.

make sure the CHEQUE has cleared before you arrange pick up, is all. our bank a/c shows money going in, but not yet available, then puts it up as avaialbe, don't know if yours does the same.

SuperBunny · 18/03/2009 03:37

ok - thanks for advice. Have never done this before!

alipiggie · 18/03/2009 04:02

CF don't know what I've missed, but hope you're okay. SB sounds a perfect solution to me.

Busy, busy here as normal, but heading to bed right now. Take care everyone.

jabberwocky · 18/03/2009 18:28

I have made a valiant effort to catch up but still have a few posts unread. FWIW, I'm with kickass's dh on waiting until 2011 to fix the passport.

So big that I didn't get to meet up with dooney. Dh was sick the entire time we were in Portland, ds2 was ill and running fever for the first two days we were there, ds1 was completely overwhelmed by the change in routine (he's rather Asperger-y, you know) and then he (ds1) started running fever on the plane home. Both boys are home today and evidently feeling better from the mayhem in the playroom

So the conference was good but exhausting and the idea of it being a little holiday kind of went out the window. We got in at 1:00 am Tuesday, I snatched a bit of sleep and then had to go into work yesterday. Dh very nicely let me sleep in today after I was up half the night with the boys...

kickassangel · 18/03/2009 21:54

jabber, that sounds exhausting!

glad you're all home & well.

dh is currently all over the place, in st loius tonight, and back late tomorrow night.
i suspect the weekend will be kinda quiet but there's a big lego thing on nearby that i thought i might take dd to. how nerdy am i?

dooneygirl · 18/03/2009 23:39

Sorry we didn't meet. DH was really funny about it. He was horribly disappointed. (Not saying that to make you feel bad at all, he's gotten over it. In fact he was over it the minute he got back online with all the other Hobbits.) I think he loves SB so much, he wants to meet any and all MNers. I feel sorry for your DH, how miserable being sick the whole time. But I'm glad that we weren't around fevers and such any more than we had to be, given our propensity to head to the ER when they happen.

You'll have to tell me more about Arkansas sometimes. I have to admit it is probably next to last on the list of states that we haven't visited yet in terms of how much I want to go there.

Kickass, I don't think it is nerdy at all. I'd call it being a good mother.

anorak · 18/03/2009 23:56

Hello, I'm in Boston again - on my own this time. Califrau, Superbunny and dooneygirl, if only one of you could have come and stayed with me, it would have been a hoot!

I had dinner ON MY OWN at the cheers replica bar, shopped ON MY OWN and came back to the hotel ON MY OWN with my smuggled bottle of wine (non drinking hotel )

And it's only 8pm...

The night is young...

And I am OLD and have a clinic appointment tomorrow...dressing-gown beckoning...

SuperBunny · 18/03/2009 23:57

Oh Jabber, what a nightmare. Hope the boys get better v quickly.

Kickass, I love Lego

Dooney, what is last on your list? How is Mr Dooney? We haven't had any news about him recently.

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 18/03/2009 23:59

I AM a hoot. It takes one drink to get me really tipsy, but not smashed, and I'm a very happy drunk. Give me more warning next time (if there is a next time), and you never know what could happen.

I seriously cannot wrap my head around the concept of non drinking hotel. Did Boston get moved to Utah and nobody told me?

SuperBunny · 19/03/2009 00:02

Oh Anorak, I wish I was there

Wine and hotel room and good company sounds good to me.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 19/03/2009 00:29

anorak, I could sure do with some wine and girl time. This ongoing illness with the boys and dh is exhausting. I think he is probably into another round of post-viral syndrome. He is very prone to that being a polio survivor.

Tell Mr. Dooney I am very disappointed too. I was looking forward to meeting him just as much as you, dooney. He sounds like such a lovely man

anorak · 19/03/2009 01:48

Thanks for the messages, girls. Jabberwocky, you would have been welcome.

Yes, a non-drinking hotel is an oddity in Boston, but it's a nice hotel in a really good location with a great internet connection, so I put up with having to hide the bottle of wine in my bag.

You guys will just have to sort out a trip to Bermuda instead, won't you?

IchBinNichtEinKaninchen · 19/03/2009 02:14

Now you're talking, Anorak

Hope appointment goes well - is it just a check up?

alipiggie · 19/03/2009 02:17

Well wish I was there too. I am in bed, fighting off a cold in the company of two small boys, a cat and a hot toddy. So life's not too bad here either.
