Oh no SB you must be feeling awful.

SuperBunny · 16/03/2009 02:20

I only spoke to him a few days ago and he was doing so well. He was 19. They are from overseas so they are having to get his body repatriated. It's just awful - the mum is being so brave but is obviously devastated and no-one can do or say anything to make it better

OP posts:
anorak · 16/03/2009 02:25

No, I should imagine there isn't anything much you can say to a mother who's lost their child that will make them feel better

dooneygirl · 16/03/2009 02:55

I'm so sorry, SB.

I'd love to come to Boston. But I'd have to drag 2 small people with me. And experience has shown time and again that even one of them in a king bed with 2 people is too much.

kickassangel · 16/03/2009 03:00

sb, how awful. hope you're ok? must be so sad. even at 19, he's still her little boy.

dooneygirl · 16/03/2009 04:07

I lost Caitlin. I went in to check on her in her room, and she was gone. I looked all over the house and couldn't find her until I heard snoring coming from my bed, where she had pulled the covers over her head and was happily sleeping on daddy's pillow. I know she couldn't have left the house, but still was panicked.

Thanks. I'm ok. Just feeling useless. But I have my baby and that is all that matters. Going to work each week makes me count my blessings.

Losing children would be very scary. Am glad caitlin was safe and sound.

dd once got 'lost' under the covers, but it only took about 5 mins to find her.
the cat, however, once got upstairs, crept out the bathroom window, and sat on the roof, prob laughing to herself, as dh & i ran round the house & garden, calling for her, like idiots, for half hour. we were about to give up, when she came back in. it was when we'd just got her & she wasn't meant to be going out, so we thought she'd really gone.
both dd & the cat have hidden in cupbaords numerous times & caused confusion

dooneygirl · 16/03/2009 22:46

Usually she's so noisy that we hear her leaving her room the minute her feet hit the floor. And she opens the door loudly, too. We're quite unnerved that she's discovered stealth mode. Usually she goes and sleeps on the floor, not under our mounds of decorative pillows and blankets.

kickassangel · 16/03/2009 23:14

our house here is 'sort of' open plan, ther's big arches into each room, rather than narrow doorways, so dd can move from place to place undetected. the number of times i've turned around & she's disappeared!
there's a kind of figure 8 between her play room, kitchen, lounge & front door, with stairs in the middle. we often go round & round

SuperBunny · 17/03/2009 02:24

Ah, this is where living in a tiny studio is a good thing. We only have 1 room really, so nowhere to hide! I knew there had to be positive side to it.

OMG, I forgot to say, Dinner can ride a bike! A real, 2 wheel pedal bike without training wheels. Woohoo!

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 17/03/2009 02:32

How could you forget that?

SuperBunny · 17/03/2009 02:46

If you are on my FB, I have put a video up. I won't keep it there but please have a look! And excuse my squealing (and the pink bike)!

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 17/03/2009 02:48

alipiggie · 17/03/2009 03:31

What a total star SB. SittingBull - HI. Or has she gone again . So this giving blood thing, if you're cleared through blood test i.e for Green Card does that mean they still refuse it . That's sad. Had a lovely weekend here with sunshine and outside activities - cycling, car cleaning and trip to the Zoo. Woohoo was great fun. Work going well too (for now). Ex is in trouble again and Slumdog Millionaire is the best movie ever.

kickassangel · 17/03/2009 12:51

gosh, dd can't ride without stabilisers yet, and the removal men lost the bolts to stick them back on. her bike's a bit big & she can only just reach the floor, so we didn't dare take them off last summer.
yep, lovely weather here atm (had a bbbq last night), but thunderstorms due for next 2 days & dh having to fly to st lois, poor guy

SuperBunny · 17/03/2009 13:22

I do think having a smaller bike is key, Kickass. A big bike is harder to balance on.

Gorgeous here too - going to be 70 today, hurrah! St Louis is meant to bve lovely. I have friends there but can't face th 5 hr drive to visit them.

What's Ex done now, Ali?

Where is SB?

SuperBunny · 17/03/2009 17:09

Argh, if one more person says 'Top of the Morning' to me in a crappy fake Irish accent, I may be forced to punch them. I have been interrogated for not wearing green and my saying, 'but I'm not Irish' seems unacceptable.

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 17/03/2009 19:15

I thought of you when I was helping at Colin's school, as his teacher was telling everyone happy St. Patty's day, which she got with an Irish accent, I think, but continued on into some sort of Irish/cockney hybrid. I had to stifle a giggle, because I was imagining you standing there and rolling your eyes.

well, i forced dd into her ireland rugby top for school, as dh is irish & loves rugby, so it seemed appropriate.
am going to the pub later to drink green beer!

cali, what thread? i can't believe it? did you have a mn argument? i wouldn't worry about it, none of us on here are really real you know. it's all just make believe anyway!! step away from the thread very quickly.

beautiful sunny day here, i have just remembered how much i love america in the sunshine, the space to just go places without being stuck in traffic, and letting the kids run round the park. hurrah!
